And do you clean your whole house everywhere before the passover week? And do you have to clean every object in the house ? That could take a long time!!!

that is where the tradition of "Spring cleaning" comes from.

Angels, in many Jewish homes EVERYTHING is cleaned. I know a family that started cleaning over three weeks before Passover. They first went through all the rooms they didnt' use as much and then after they were scoured and cleaned, the room was off limits until after Pesach.

I mean, they cleaned every corner, and shampooed their carpets. They actually lost weight during Passover preparation with all the furniture they would have move around and clean under (they had large two story house.)

They also have, as many Jewish homes do, a set of dishes only for Passover and can only be used during the week of unleavend bread. They have three sets of cooking utensils: One set for dairy, one set for meat and one set for Passover. Did I mention they have a HUGE kitchen? Their house was built to accomodate all of this (except the rigors of Pesach cleaning <_< )

They clean every corner and nook. They open their books and shake them out in case they had been eating bread while reading and crumbs were still trapped in them. It was an amazing thing. I mean that house was CLEAN come Passover!!! I, a very anal, picky neat freak, and these people make me look like a slob.

It is a huge job. Passover is the most expsensive Jewish holiday, and it is the most laborious to prepare for if you do it right.

In addition to all this the serious people go as far as looking around the house with a candle, and scrape places out with a feather!!

If it isn't hard enough, this spring cleaning comes at a time when there are lots of sand storms and you can imagine what goes on during that period!!

It was the same this year. I couldn't drive the car without wiping all that dust off the windscreen and today, after the passover is over, it poured and cleaned everything. Late, but did a good job.

(Late edition) By the way. Beer is also concedered Hametz as it's made of wheat or one of those "forbidden"s

Vickilynn,

If the Lord sets you free you are free indeed, why do you think God wants you to keep that law ,do you never eat pizza?

;)

Shalom Angels.

Oh, the L-rd HAS set me free! Set me free from sin and death and much more! But not from His Torah!

Jesus says if I love Him, I will keep His commandments. And I love Him.

Jesus says He did not come to abolish the Law, and I believe Him! He set me free from the penalty of the Law.

BTW, Jesus never ate pork. :noidea:

And yes, I do eat pizza. In fact, I make it at home, often. But, I don't eat pepperoni or any type of pork on it. Why? Because G-d says not to. I would rather obey Him than eat something not given for food.

My dear, it sounds to me like you're living under a lot of condemnation and the heavy yokes of rules and regulations. You are not defiled by what you eat, but what comes out of your mouth. Where does it say that Jesus never ate pork? Jesus came to set us free from the chains of the law and we are under His grace when born again. Eating pork and meat will definately NOT cause a wedge between you and God - so go ahead and enjoy food the way it was intended.

Matthew 15:10-11: "Jesus called the crowd to Him and said, Listen and understand. What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean'."

Verse 17 - 18: "Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean'."

Jesus was referring to the Jewish regulations concerning food and drink. It is what you say and think that makes you unclean - not by eating nonkosher food. Nothing should be a barrier to proclaiming the gospel of Christ.

Whom the Son sets free, is free indeed.

Shalom!

:noidea:

The fact that Yeshua came to set us free from the chains of the law doesn't mean we can now stop honoring our parents. That we can now kill, hate our neighbors, steal or stop keeping the Shabbat.

Am I under condemnation or heavy yolk because I don't kill people ?!

I would say that it depends very much where I am coming from when I follow these laws which to my mind means.... If Vickilynn is observing these laws because God said so, that is precisly the place God and Yeshua want us to be. Not a prisoner of the law but free to abide by it, by our free choice and our submition to God's will.

Blessings <_<

Anyone, Jewish or Gentile is free to observe or not observe the dietary commandments. We can run into some serious problems when we start imposing these things on fellow believers. Those who don't observe these rules should respect the convictions of those who do, and vice-versa.

I agree an believe me I'm not out to judge anybody!! :taped:

You know I believe that God actually deals with each one of us in a different way and convict us of different things in our lives , I read a really interested pamplet ones where it says that God allows somethings for some people and not for other people in their lives, if we live close to God He let us know........

Challah bread is a egg based bread that is braided and eaten on the Sabbath. Most Jewish people make at least two loaves for the Sabbath. It is traditionally eaten with the Friday night meal and represents the double portion of manna that fell on the day before the Sabbath. We often use a decorative Challah cover as well which represents the dew that preserved the manna until it could be picked from the ground.

I will look for this recipe and and try to make it in my breadmachine, I love the meaning behind this tradition and as a born again believer that can apply the manna to Jesus who came to save us. :emot-questioned:

Thanks:)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
