They say when you compare the amount of time that kids spend listening to radio or watching tv to how much time you really get to spend with them, you figure out who's raising your children.

Having taught school for years...I hear this loud and clear. Someone always wants to blame the teachers, blame the goverment, blame the schools...when will parents begin to blame themselves for being so unavailable?

I'm personally in favor of homeschooling.

Don't mean to offend anyone who doesn't like secular music-so no offense intended!

I read an article about this a while back where they had asked rock stars what they thought. They all said that rock and roll was the devil's music. One said "and it always has been".

i wonder who these rock stars are ??

Ok...I've got a bunch of stuff to say 'bout this, so I hope y'all don't mind if I take up a lot of space.

First of all--please don't get offended anyone. I'm not out to offend anyone, i"m just sharing my experience--and I'm not trying to hurt anyone, or make them think I don't like them.

Now, I'm the first one to admit--I LOOOVE screaming and yelling in my music. I understand--that might not be everyone's cup-o'-tea. but personally--that's my favorite type...like the wiccan said--Basically people scream unintelligibly at the top of their lungs while hitting drums as fast and hard as they can with an electric guitar with the distortion cranked up also being played loud.

However..I don't go for the unintelligibly part---generally i like to be able to know what they're saying--or at least see that they have some lyrics for it. And I listen to Christian stuff with that.

What really bothers me, is when supposed Christians rag on other christian music and say it's not godly enough. There is nothing wrong with drums--nothing wrong with electric guitars--and nothing wrong with screaming--and when you combine the three in large quantity--that doesn't make it sinful or even "less godly". YOu can praise God with loud music, and shouting, and I don't think people's godliness should be measured by what music they listen to.

I also hate it when people blame the music that people listen to for the reasons that they do things. Music does not make you go out and kill someone, it does not force you to abuse people, and it sure doesn't make you go out and massacre Christians. Same thing goes for the whole gun-control issue and stuff like that. The world is always looking to blame someone else for its problems--and now it's started on the manufacturing companies. People need to learn to take responsibility for their actions--and before they start blaming music industries, or artists, they need to look to themselves. Those kids who caused Columbine made the choice to go out and kill people--they made the choice to take matters into their own hands, and deal with their problems in a very immature and deadly manner. And if you really want someone to blame other than the kids, look to those parents. kids whose parents don't love them are going to do anything they can to get the attention that they so badly long for--even if it means killing themselves or others. If parents would take time for the blessings that God has given them, and make an effort to raise them properly, and spend time with them,a nd love them, and care for them, there would be a lot less teen violence, a lot less teen pregnancy, and a lot less suicide in this country. The family should start to be lauded and honored, instead of ridiculed and dragged through the mud.

*steps off my soapbox*

that said and done, I agree with a lot of you on what you said. especially cats meow--homeschooling rocks the house, and binds those involved in it, in a fascinating and amazing way.

I agree with MOST of what Freakin_rager03 said. I like drums, electric guitars, and more of a heavy sound than most "Christians" think is Godly.

Music doesn't make anyone do anything. I LOVE music, but I don't like ANY music with bad lyrics to it. I mean really bad lyrics, like some Heavy/Death Metal, or Rap music has. Because we shouldn't condone bad things that are said, or lyrics that put bad ideas into people's heads. (even at that though, people don't HAVE to do things that they hear about)

Music is a wonderful thing we can use to worship God with. It all depends on where your heart is. You can sing the most slow, Christian Hymn, with only a piano, or a capella or something that alot of Christians deem Holy, but if you are singing it and your heart isn't affected, or you don't believe what you are saying..its no more pleasing to God. It's the intent with which we are serving and worshipping God.

i think its silly how record companies are going after download sites because they think its the reason record sales are down like 30% or so, did the recors execs ever stop for a sec and think 99.9% of the artist (i use that term loosely) reak they sample others music not writing there own and want outrageous cash for the minimum of talent, one good song for a 20 dollar CD is too much

i have no problem with down load sites maybe it will wake the record industry up

I live on music guys.....................Christian music though.......................normally worship music. It's not that I depend on it to worship with. It is a very strong part of who I am. Singing releases stress for me a lot of the time. If I didn't have music in about 25% of my day I'd probably go insane (I'm close enough as it is). It keeps me focused on God throughout my day and actually keeps me in a mood of prayer and worship.

I would like to make a plug for the parents. I and very many christian parents are losing our kids to the influences of society. We and many like us run a Godly home, no violent video games, no violent movies, no violent music allowed here. Kids are not allowed to run and do what ever they please. And we are feeling quite overwhelmed with the pull society at large is having on our teens. We take them to church and pray before all meals, we as in the parents talk openly of God and his expectations all the time. We spend all of our time outside of work with the kids and don't leave them to their own resources. They are not allowed to just rome around on the internet. WE are finding around the house violent and sexual drawings the kids are doing. We hear them on the phone when they think we are not listening and their language is full of vulgarities and smut. When hiking or camping or any family function they spend most of it complaining about how stupid it all is. We over hear them talking and it's always about who is doing who in school. Even though here in the home we spend our time with them, we do everything in our power to stand between them and the influences of the world at large the world is still winning. We pray and pray and pray and we feel helpless and overwhelmed at times. First you hear your not paying enough attention then you get the other end of it where you are on top of them too much. You have to let them experience things and find their own way. Heres the real deal, they don't at this point in their lives want to be like us, they think we are a drag and boring. They want to be like all the other kids who do all the things they are not allowed to do. They are completely intrigued with all the sex, violence and perversions the world has to offer.

As far as the music goes, it's not a question of whether or not it is pleasing to us, but is it pleasing to the Lord. If it's not it's junk plain and simple. If it has one word in it that goes against Gods word it's junk. This is not difficult to discern. As far as the kids go you can't blame it on one single entity it's our society in general. Our society and way of life here in the states has become completely depraved and filled with the most vile things imaginable and the country at large has embrased this illness.

Ok rant over

In Yeshua's love

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
