I am talking through my own experiences on the religion of Islam. American Muslims tend to say that real Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance. Now this confuses me because America tends to be the only place this type of Islam exists. Prevalent in the Middle East is what we in America have come to know as radical Islam. So I'm wondering which is the real Islam?

Well after traveling to the Middle East, I can't help but believe the people who have practiced the same traditions for centuries and live in the birth place of this religion. I found that American Muslims believe in a liberl version of the true Muslim faith. It is kind of like Christians who hire homosexual clergy, promote abortion, practice premarital sex, and just do everything thats contradictory to the Bible and still claim to be Christians. One of my acquaintances in the Middle East told me that American Muslims were seen my the other Muslim communities around the world as the worst types of Muslims. After learning about the Koran and the religion itself, I found that American Muslims are very unreliable to speak about Islam to. It is a completely different religion to them. I know Muslims frequent this forum so I want to hear from you. What can you say to this?

uvn477,

I will never be silent about the blasphemy that is the Koran and Islam.

Any "religion" that claims:

Monotheistic (5:73; 112:1-4), denies the Trinity (5:73).

Jesus is not God, (5:17, 75)

Jesus was not Crucified, (4:157).

Jesus did not rise from the dead.

Jesus was not the Son of God ( 9:30)

The Holy Spirit is the angel Gabriel (2:97; 16:102).

Honestly in my opinion it has no place being mentioned here on a site that is designed to glorify Christ. I could care less what "version" of Islam these people practice. It should be made clear that they are NOT in any way in harmony with Christianity and very much against what He stands for.

UNV, you bring up a valid point. Many American Muslims are extremely liberal in their beliefs (liberal to other Muslims around the world). However, there is a growing trend in the US amongst younger Muslims to start listening to clerics from the Middle East. The irony is that, the older a person is in Islam, the more likely he is to be less radical. In the US, we are having a problem. For instance, in my hometown the local mosque for years has been extremely liberal, so liberal as to have Christian and Jewish leaders come in and have discussions about religion. However, they have recently been getting students in there on university visas who are from the middle east and are beginning to radicalize some of the youth there. Ten years ago you rarely saw a woman walk around covered, maybe with something covering her head. Now, there are more and more women walking around fully covered. More and more men are growing their beards out. The fact is, American muslims may be tame now, but within twenty years they will be extremely radical.

In all respect to you

Not you are anyone can just pretend they are not there, otherwise how will we reach out to them? And i noticed in another thread you mentioned not ever allowing that Book-(The Koran) into your house. Now, I have one in my house for studying purposes only, it might as well be a text-book so i know better how to efficiently debunk Islam. You seem to be a little afraid of this book, while we should take precaution to it we cannot pretend it doesn't exist, it does so we should know what it says so we can show Muslims their error.

In all Respect,

Joel

I agree with you that this site is designed to glorify our Lord and savior. However, I also believe it to be a place of discussion, debate, and gaining a better understanding of the Bible. You can't live life pretending Christianity is the only religion out there. There are thousands which we must know about. How would you combat something like Islam when you know nothing about it. Ironically when Muslims engage in debates with Christians, they don't use the Koran, they use the Bible. You have to know the enemy to fight the enemy.

Now let's discuss who the enemy is. Many Christians think the enemy is the Muslim. Yet the Muslim is only a victim of the true enemy which is the religion of Islam. This applies to all who deny Christ or follow other gods.

I can see that you are a very faithful servant. However you can't defend Christ when you're not using the right weapons. Please take these words at heart and open your mind to what is out there.

This site is about glorifying Christ. I don't think the OP has an intention of not doing so with this thread. Clearly we live in a world where we are exposed to many different religions and cults. Is it wrong to understand our neighbors?

We do not allow the koran to be posted here. We do not allow the actual teaching of Islam here. That is not being done in this thread. The subject matter is controversial, and therefore will be watched, but so far, the thread is fine. :emot-hug:

Excellent point, uvn! :emot-hug: Islam is, after all, pretty much just another Christian heresy leading people astray from the Truth. And because it purports to give its adherents "power", it is attractive to the youth and those members of society who feel oppressed and weak.

I agree. We need to understand what we are up against if we are to effectively evangelize Muslims. Until you can view them with compassion, as you say---victims---we truly are fighting the wrong enemy. Very true, uvn, very insightful.

Peace,

Fiosh

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
