Thank-you for sharing your testimony, Treasured! :24:

I have RA, Sjogren's, and other problems - it encourages me to hear reports like this.

(Cute kitty, BTW - what's his/her name?)

Don't worry - I agree the accumulation of wealth Hinn has done is not godly. I suspect, though, if Hinn was all bad that the Lord would have taken him down by now. It may be that there was a job the Lord has for Hinn, and that maybe Hinn is being faithful in thhat job - even if other areas of his life are not.

But I agree that it is hard to know who to beleive.

What I have learned is that we should judge fruit, not the people. We all make mistakes.

Instead of focusing on "who" to believe, perhaps we need to focus on "what" to believe. Because anyone can give a teaching that is spot on perfect, and then give a teaching that is way off course.

See?

I don't mean to be harsh with you nebula but frankly you show more charity towards a snake like Benny Hinn than you do some posters on this board with whom you have disagreements. This lukewarm attitude towards Hinn is dangerous. Anything that gives him any credibility is dangerous. I have watched this man a lot in order to offer an informed opinion. I have never heard the gospel of the forgiveness of sins preached by him ever. His entire schtick is just a self glorifying drama and completely phony. If he could do just one tenth of what he claims he can do he should go to every hospital in the country and perform real healings instead of the phony ones he does on television each day on stage.

Very sad that you think he should not be criticized at the highest level. To excuse what he does by saying "everyone makes mistakes" is absurd.

WOW!!!

I thought I had found a wonderful websight of Christians of all faiths accepting others of different denominations and united on the lifting up the LORD as well as one another, but after reading these posts I am begining to wonder.

Nebula, Bless You !!! You aren't TEARING DOWN!!!

You know if one won't believe how can they receive??? .......That isn't only for salvation ....but also healings and other blessings that the Lord is willing to pour out.

I posted my testimony on my healing of my body. I have medical documentation as well. I have a changed heart....sorry no documentation!

I was: raised Catholic, then was Jehovah's Witness for 13 years, saved in a Baptist church and attended for 7 years, was filled with the Holy Spirit at home (and alone)... so no longer accepted at that church, and now attend a all-denominational church. But to sum it up "I am trying to be a Christian (Christ-like....don't think ANY of us have achieved that yet)" and I BELONG to CHRIST not some denomination, and after 13 years of allowing others to control my thinking on my spiritual life I will not allow that to happen again. Nor will I tear down when I can build up..('any stumble one of these it be better to have a millstone tied around his neck and thrown into the sea).

What I know: The God of the Bible, the God I prayed to when I asked Jesus into my heart, is the SAME God that I have continued to pray to since that time. So when I asked Him for His Holy Spirit to fill me, It wasn't the devil...You see 'What father, when his child asks for a fish will give him a snake or for bread give him a rock'..."How much more will your Father in heaven give His children".

"... and I BELONG to CHRIST not some denomination ... ."

The above comment destroys any credibility you are trying to achieve. Denomination bashing and implying those who worship within denominations do not belong to Christ is not Christ-like. Even if one healing occurred during the course of a Hinn sideshow (and I have seen none that are truly documented), it would not excuse the 99.9999% that are complete hoaxes that he conducts.

Well, I must admit I'm not too clued up about Benny Hinn, since I live in England, but some of the reports I HAVE heard have caused me to at least be very cautious.

Cautious? Hinn's ministry has no more to do with the Christian faith than that of a snake oil salesman.

I'm very glad to be having the support of the members of this forum, it seems, regarding this. But why are the pastors, and associate pastors of my church succumbing to this, what I call deceptive nonsense? This is an issue which has deeply divided my church in recent years. Ok, I don't agree with the catholic and C of E style of church, which is staid, stagnant, etc, and do agree with freedom of worship, but where to draw the line? I despair, I really do.

Listen, in my opinion, the enemy in these days is more deceptive than we EVER gave him credit for. I know that Jesus is Lord of all. We must stand together to find a common ground for believing and speaking what we believe.

..."if it were possible, even the very elect would be deceived."

Respectfully disagree since you appear to be open to compromise to the truth of God's Word. I cannot stand together and find common ground with those who are in such error. People like Hinn use the term Jesus but it is not the Jesus of the Bible. His Jesus is nothing more than a genie from a bottle. Your pastors and associate pastors are deceived if they believe these things. At some point you must make a decision to either leave or risk making shipwreck of your own faith by staying.

sw

Not correct, St.Worm.

I am very wary at all times regarding these things. It's just that sometimes I seem to be in the minority here regarding these things. I left the church in question, a pentecostal, but am feeling very lonely and needy in recent months for fellowship of true Christians. Who is a true Christian nowadays?

None of the televangelists...that's for sure. I include Billy Graham.

no "fellowship" exists...start being a friend to the alien, to the dspossessed, to the widow, the orphan...Do you want as your inheriatnce the lost? Why go to try and find the found?

Go seek the lost...find true fellowship that way.

I dissagree with you on Billy Graham. In all the years this man has been preaching you have never heard anyting but good about him. His ministery does so much good for a lot of people. His wife Ruth Graham raised five childern almost alone while he was out on the road. No Billy Graham is fine by me. However I will agree with the rest of them. W.V Grant, Dollar, Hinn, Chalres Tilton, and Oh yes let's not forget Mike Murdock. When I see him my stomach tightens. I believe that there will be a lot of souls in Heaven because of Dr. Grahams odeidence and I respect him and his family so much.

As a result of the doubts expressed in this topic regarding the validity of Benny Hinn's claim to be acting under the anointing of God, I decided to do a bit of research on line for myself.

Below is an interesting page I found.

Now, I'm not saying totally that I am against Benny Hinn, it's just that things like this make you think. I'm very reluctant to speak against him outright, since so many people, including people I know, are still in favour of most of what he does, which makes is confusing, to say the least.

I'd say that, for myself, I am about 90% 'suspicious' and about 10 % 'open minded'. That is why I started this thread, because I wan't to have as much information and opinion as possible, before reaching a firm conclusion.

Thanks for all your comments, folks. Keep them coming;

Wow sw...I did not read that in her post...

I read this mind set...she serves the Lord...

Jos 5:13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?

Jos 5:14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

perhaps she will return and respond herself and let us know her intentions in the post...

About Benny Hinn..I do not know anything about him particularity except he is a Christian speaker and believes in healing..

How he lives that out I do not know...

that is it..

Does anyone have a link where it proclaims he is not a Christian and I am not talking about the "bash him because he does not believe the same way I do" sites...I need a credible site...

I would like to see where it is shown he is not a Christian...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
