Repentance is a matter of turning away from sin, and from the life of sin. Believing into the work of the cross of Christ is also an act of turning away from sin. A sinner can believe into Christ and have their sins washed away. That's the initial need of a sinner aside from having the life of God. remember that in the Old Testament a sacrifice had to be offered before their sins were covered. Also there were the two aspects of the Passover: The application of the blood and the eating of the lamb. The blood had to be applied before the passover lamb was eaten.

AmenGod-man,

It takes an act of God for us to even see the fact that we are sinners in need of repentance.

The very act of salvation is initiated by God (Jesus and the cross) then He reaches to us and gives us the very faith for salvation all this before we have even thought about repentance, although they kinda come as one big package.

By grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves it is a gift of God

it also says that it is the kindness of God that leads one to repentance Romans 2:4

If you look at the whole plan of the act of salvation, it us zero, God everything.

2 Tim 2:5 tells us that God grants repentance, this is a mystery of why He chooses us, but I am grateful He did and I give Him the glory, even in my salvation, God gets all the glory, even my very act of repentance.

Its really a beautiful thing to grasp, as God unfolds this to me, of which it is an every day deal until we meet Him face to face.

Love the insight of the sacrifice being offered, before the sins were covered.

In Jesus

Kevin

then brother i guess we could throw this scripture out.

if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Jesus set us examples of this in the Lord's prayer

and on the cross.

and like that scripture says...if we confess our sins ,he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins

confess means lord i am a sinner ...

And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

Luk 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

Luk 11:3 Give us day by day our daily bread.

Luk 11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

if we cant take the Lord's word , whose word can we take?

God bless....Until the shout that takes us out, evang. dare

Yes, but my point was that the confession unto salvation is not the same as confessing one's sins. Also, that this confession need not be made as a prerequisite to being regenerated.

I think the confession referred to in this verse is an ongoing process as believers, not a one time confession unto salvation.

Yes. One of the best comments I ever heard said about this verse is "Keep a short account with God." Believers should daily confess their sins before God. Something I have the most trouble learning, unfortunately.

so u are saying a sinner doesnt have to confess his sins to be forgiven....please give me that scripture.

if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness....if we confess our sins.

why wouldnt a sinner confess his sins if he is sorrowful? why would he wait until later ? if he is truly sorrowful he will ask..

I tell you nay except ye repent ye shall all like wise perish...

repenting is more than turning from sin..God's word says confess your sins.....

and amen we had better turn from them..

For Godly sorrow worketh >>>.to repentance to>>>>salvation

now when a sinner realizes they are a sinner, and they are moved with Godly sorrow..the first thing they will say is lord forgive me of my sins i am a sinner.....

and we are taught by the lord to ask forgiveness of our sins....he even prayed on the cross to forgive those who had put him there ...why?because they were sinners and sinners need to confess their sins to God..period.

if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from allllllllllll unrighteouesness.

i tell you nay except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish.

And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

Exd 32:32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

Exd 32:33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book

Psa 25:18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

Luk 11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Luk 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

Luk 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

Luk 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Luk 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified [rather] than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Job 13:23 How many [are] mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin

well as for this servant, i tell them they need to confess their sins to God. He is the only one who has the power to forgive...

i will not tell a sinner he does not need to confess his sins....that contradicts the word of God.....and i will not stand before God guilty of that ...i will not.

GOD BLESS and continue on as you wish in this....ive given u the word and thats all i can do....we all have a choice to beleive it or not.....

have a wonderful safe and blessed weekend everyone......

if i dont see u all again ill meet u on the other side of sweet jordan and if the lord should return before monday i will ll meet you in the air.......Until the shout that will surely take us out......evangelist dare

In case nobody saw it............here's Jesus' Gospel message:

I go back to what Jesus preached.

Mark 1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Mark 6:7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

6:12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

(Oh, did I mention that was Jesus's message?) :il:

In His Love,

Suzanne

Repentance simply means to turn away from something. It is an outward act or an inward decision to turn away from a former deed or manner of living.

John the baptist preached repentance, and those that he baptised confessed their sins (Matt 3:6). But we cannot rightly assume that these had been regenerated yet, because Christ had not yet been crucified. Interestingly, John the Baptist had a faction of followers all his own (Mark 2:18; Matt. 11:2; 14:12; Luke 11:1; John 1:35; 3:25). It could be argued that they followed John and were satisfied with their repentance and confession, but did not follow Jesus who could bring them eternal life.

I'm not saying that repentance and confession are not necessary parts of becoming a believer. I am only saying that there are no other prerequisites to being regenerated. All one must do is believe with the heart and confess with the mouth Jesus as Lord.

I'd like to inject something in here. This was a skit one of my Biblical professors at college presented to the class. It really made me think.

********************************************************

He told the class that he was playing the part of Jesus, and that he had just finished a teaching. Then he said something like, "If you need to come forward for prayer or counseling, I have here up front 12 very well trained disciples whom you can speak with, who will pray with you...."

*********************************************************

Kind-of puts a different twist to the way things tend to be done these days.

************************************************************

But there was a part two. One of the students whom he had given a part to (with script) came rushing up front.

"Master! Master! I need to speak with you!"

The teacher, as Jesus, responded, "Yes, how may I help you?"

"I have an urgent question I need to ask you."

Somehow in the opening dialog, they indicate that this is "the rich young ruler." He, of course asks what he needs to do to receive eternal life.

Jesus then draws out for him the plan of salvation, with the old, "There's a gap of sin separating you from the Father. I have come to build a bridge over that gap so that you may cross and access the Father...."

"You mean I can get saved and still be a rich young ruler?"

Jesus"Sure! We can even use your testimony on how you became saved to reach others with my message...."

************************************************************

 :x:

Makes one wonder what kind of Gospel we are preaching, I think.

Again, I am not criticizing anyone's method of preaching the Gospel. However the Gospel is being preached I glorify God that it is done - I think I read that somewhere.

Brother Timothy used to quote someone with "Preach the Gospel. When necessary, use words."

I DO BELIEVE THAT THE LORD JESUS SAID IT ALL HERE.....

WHO ARE WE TO ARGUE WITH HIM.....

MARK 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
