Stay with the KJV. It is correct word for word.

The NIV has missing verses, missing words... important words that will change the original meaning and doctrine as do a number of other versions. It is not a word for word translation. The words are longer, harder to memorize and based on the 8th grade reading level.

The KJV is at the 5th grade reading level, easy to memorize, and uses short precise wording.

It is true that not all bibles are based on a correct text, but an updated text from the 1880s. The Masoretic text and Textus Receptus is what the KJV is from. The NIV is not.

God built in a certain structure in the KJV that is destroyed by the new versions. A structure to the bible that helps you understand it.

Amen" LawyerforGod" In fact the other versions come from the oldest copy of the Alexandrian text. In the book of Acts(6:9) Stephen was disputing with this group.

Care to back that up with a reputable source?

The Jewish New Testament (by JPS) - becuase it is an awesome translation that emphasis our Judeo-Christian faith and addresses some of the anti-Semitism found in many Western translations. I heartily recommend it as a exceptional study Bible. The LORD has spoken new revelation to me many times when ready the JPS translation.

The Jewish New Testament is not put out by the JPS (Jewish Publication Society). It is the product of the Translation skills of Dr. David Stern. He is is a Messianic Jew with no ties to the JPS

The JPS has its own translation of the Tenach, but is not Messianic and thus has no version of the NT.

Do the job properly and learn some Greek.

Up until recently I have used the NASB, because it is the most faithful to the Greek and Hebrew constructs. The weakness was that because it was faitful to the word order of the original languages, it did not read very well. Recently I have been using the Holman. It retains the sterengths of the NASB, but also adds better readability.

not everyone is a linguist,,

there is one person i know that speaks ( 20 years ago, ) 7 languages fluently and also writes them, and also developed a new language. he was currently learning others. me? well, i am lucky to be able to speak english ...lol..... muchless another, tryed german, tryed spanish, tryed french, learned a little Finnish, and just a tad of Icelandic ( i was in Iceland for 6 years, and was unable to get a good grasp on the language ) i think dislexia has a little bit to do with it....

if everyone was to be a Bible Schoolar then who would be the farmer to supply the stores that we eat????

or the oil man to supply the gasoline we use to fill our cars?

anyways,

not everyone has the passion nor the ability to learn other languages their gifts are elsewhere....
