Incidentally, the strawman fallacy is not creating something out of nothing and then beating it to death. The strawman fallacy is taking an argument and making it out to be something that it was never intended to be in the first place. It's a kind of red herring:

Example: Bill and Jill are arguing about cleaning out their closets:

Jill: "We should clean out the closets. They are getting a bit messy."

Bill: "Why, we just went through those closets last year. Do we have to clean them out everyday?"

Jill: "I never said anything about cleaning them out every day. You just want too keep all your junk forever, which is just ridiculous."

I will get to your comments a little later, Fovezer.

I can see by your posts that you are well versed in scientific matters. At least, you are more so than I. I admit that my knowledge of DNA, nucleotides and genomes is lacking.

While I am not versed in the specifics of scientific research, one thing I do know is that scientists are constantly testing their theories. That is how scientific knowledge is gained; through observable tests and models.

So here is my challenge to you. If you are open to being convinced that God exists, why not put Him to the test? There is nothing we can say on this board that you will not be able to refute, plain and simple. So, is there any chance that you would allow God to prove Himself to you in a way that would satisfy you?

I challenge you to use your life as a labratory, so to speak. Just put your faith on the line, ask Jesus into your heart and see if he responds. Give him a chance to change your life. If it doesn't work, then you have lost nothing. If God responds to you in a manner that is satisfactory to you, then you will know he exists. I challenge you to trust Jesus, believe the gospel by recieving Jesus as your savior, and read his Word for 90 days and see if he does not respond to your faith! If you are truly willing to be convinced, if you are truly open to the possibility that God exists, then this will not be problematic. God is not put off when we, in an intellectually honest manner, test the truth of his claims.

Since you told me you did NOT want to beleive in God, I see no reason to continue the discussion. You will see no evidence that you do not want to see. You've already got your blinders on and you like them that way.

Frankly, there was no one on these boards even really talking evolution before you came. Therefore I don't buy your reasoning that you came here to dispel myths about athiesm or evolution or whatever. You came here out of your own need to fight God. He was once with you, and you will be fighting him all the days of your life.

evolution does happen but only to the point that animals adapt to survive and adapt to there surroundings but God created everything that is EVERYTHING

I don't think adaptation is the same thing as evolution. I could be wrong, though. I don't pay much attention to evolutionary THEORY.

You see, I've already tried that. I was, at one point, a christian, but I lost my faith.

I NEVER said I did not want to believe in god. Stop putting words in my mouth! I am not trying to fight god. I have never said anything bad about your god. I have only question you beliefs, and it seems that you are very insecure in your beliefs and are getting mad.

Stop using the "evolution is only a theory line." You are just showing how little you understand about science. Gravity is just a theory. Relativity is just a theory. You believe those are true, don't you? Please, a scientific theory is as close to fact/law as you are going to get.

Friend,

I started questioning my beliefs. I put them to the test, and they failed. I also started to see that there was no reason for a god. I would also think, "Out of all the 5,000 or so gods, how can you possibly be sure which one is the right one, since all humans are fallible?" It was a domino effect. I feel that I am a better person now (not saying that christian are bad, please don't take it that way) because I believe what I want to believe, and not what was crammed down my throat. (again, I'm not refering to all christians)

sorry, but Gravity is real.......

plenty of proof there......

macro and micro evolution........ one is the adaptation of animals ( and people ) the other is change ( thru the genetics )

genetic change has not happened, even when it was tryed adn tryed, it dont happen, a mule, we do not have a new spieces, mules can not reproduce......

if God dont exist, neither do we..... if God dont exist, we have just become figments of some ones imagination......

even if a person wants the "big bang " thing to be right, ok, what caused the big bang... chance of the right elements coming together to cause an explosion are super slim..... and to have enough elements that "by chance" have come together in just the right fashion to do something is astronomical......

how do you explain how a single cell, mixing with another single cell, can come up with a super complex creature with a vast number of individual systems, that function indipendantly and in unison and in conjuntion with other systems????? Chance???? BULLONY......

it is harder, and takes more faith to live with out God then it does with God.......

God is not something or some one we can figure out with the rational mind, but what science comes up with is more difficult to fathom then having God live with in me, Who created me and every thing around me......

all the what if's of science, most of what is come up with is junk science.....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
