4:2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD

4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

What was it in Cain's sacrifice that displeased God?

Was it implied in his heart that the covering of sin required a blood sacrifice, and Cain purposefully disregarded God's will?

I understand that the Law of Abraham was clear that a blood sacrifice was necessary, but I don't see where this knowledge was imparted to Cain and Able.

Yours in Christ Jesus,

Tim.

1. Because it required the Blood- God still gave him a chance to do what was right next time.

2. Yes

3. I'm sure their parents passed it on to them.

All Cain had to do was receive correction and do what was right the next time, instead he hardened his heart, got jealous and killed his brother.

Cain displeased God by offering the work of his very own hands of the soil.

1 John 3:12

this verse tells us that Cain's works were evil and that he was of that wicked one. in other words Cain did not regard God he was a servant of sin or satan but Abel did regard God and served God as it says Abel was righteous. Therefore God rejected Cain and accepted Abel and because God accepted Abel and rejected him Cain rose up and slew or killed his brother Abel as Cain was a servant of sin or Satan who was a murderer from the beginning. Cain did not have the love of God in his heart but hatred and jealous as Satan was trying to snuff out all righteousness in the world.

More than what he offered, God rejected Cain's heart.

John 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

I don't understand the parallel. I understand that Cain became unrighteous, but I'm looking for scripture that supports he knew his offering was a sin.

The parallel is that it that the scripture I gave is referring back to that very story of Cain and Abel and sheds light upon it for us. Cain did not "become" unrighteous before God Cain "was" unrighteous he was a wicked man in God's sight for his heart was not right with God and because of it God rejected his offering. And when this happened as this verse says and also the story in Genesis tells us that Cain rose up and slew his brother Abel "because" his works were evil meaning he did unrighteousness in God's sight and you can see that unrighteous or wickedness being displayed in the story when Cain offering got rejected as Cain was jealous just because Abel was a righteous man and was accepted by God.

I have always wondered why people put the focus on the story on the types of offerings that were offered as Abel gave a blood sacrifice and Cain didn't but gave of the fruit of the ground instead. But it was more of the offering not being accepted because of unrighteousness than the type of offering that was offered. As Cain's heart was not upright before the Lord as this will always bring rejection from God. But a heart that is upright before the Lord will always be accepted and recieved as we give freely from the things in which God has given unto our lives.

Thank you and God bless you for sharing with me. You're right, my friend, I was looking more to the tangable sacrifice itself rather that the spirit in which it was given unto the Lord.

Tim.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
