Leviticus 27

1. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2. Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the Lord by thy estimation.

This last chapter is dealing with sanctification laws in regards to vows that the children of Israel made to the Lord as the first verses from verses 1-25 shows to us a special type of concencration of acceptable things that the Lord would accept and in the manner the Lord would accept offerings from those who come to pay their vows they utter before the Lord in times of trouble or for other reasons. As the Lord had spoken to Moses and told him to speak unto the children of Israel concerning these things in regards to vows that were made to Him and whenever a man had made a singular vow a one time vow then their offering in which they brought in payment to the Lord would be according to estimation.........

3. And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary.

4. And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels.

5. And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels.

6. And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver.

7. And if it be from sixty years old and above; if it be a male, then thy estimation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels.

If the person was a male from 20 years old up to 60 years old then their estimation or sum of their offering was to be in the amount of 50 silver shekels of the sanctuary. If it was a female then the sum of their offering would be in the amount of 30 shekels. But if the person was between 5 years old up to 20 years old then their offering would be in the amount of 5 shekels of silver both for the males and females which was after the shekel of the sanctuary in regards to one who made a singular one time vow to God. And then if they was one month old up to 5 years old then their offering would be for the males in the amount of 5 shekels of silver and if it was a female the sum total would be in the amount of 3 shekels of silver. And if they was 60 years older and up if they was a male the sum of their offering would be 50 shekels and if they was a female 60 and up then the sum of their offering would be in the amount of 10 shekels as it would be according to the number of their years that these offerings in these amount would be accepted by God when one made a singular one time vow unto Him,.........

8. But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that vowed shall the priest value him.

9. And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the Lord, all that any man giveth of such unto the Lord shall be holy.

10. He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy.

11. And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the Lord, then he shall present the beast before the priest:

12. And the priest shall value it, whether it be good or bad: as thou valuest it, who art the priest, so shall it be.

However if one was poorer than the sum total after the shekel of the sanctuary and could not pay the sum total required then the person had to present themselves before the priest and the priest would place a value or estimation upon them according to the persons ability to honor and pay their vow to God that had made the vow as the priest would set a value for them that they were able to pay according to what they could offer. Then if one brought one of the sacrificial animals in payment for the vows they made to God then out of the sacrificial animals that were given was to be holy or acceptable according to the law they could not be altered or changed from a good animal to a bad one or from a bad one over to a good one if the person exchange the sacrificial animals in this way then the exchange had to be holy and the offerings brought forth had to still be according to the laws of acceptable sacrifices that the Lord would accept. If it was an unclean animal of which was not suppose to be offered unto the Lord then they was to present the animal before the priest and the priest would place a value on the animal whether the animal was a good or bad and whatever the priest valued them at was the set price.

13. But if he will at all redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part thereof unto thy estimation.

14. And when a man shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the Lord, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand.

15. And if he that sanctified it will redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be his.

16. And if a man shall sanctify unto the Lord some part of a field of his possession, then thy estimation shall be according to the seed thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.

And if the one who made the vow wanted to redeem them back then they was to add a fifth part of the value that the priest put on their animals to the estimated price then they could buy them back for that amount in price. Then if a person was to sanctify his house to be holy unto the Lord or giving his house to the Lord in a vow made then the priest would put an estimate on their house according to the condition of the persons house and the price would stand and be unchangeable that the priest put on the house. And if the one who made the vow wanted to redeem and buy back their house then the person had to add a fifth part of the sum of money or value of money in which the priest set onto the price of the house in order to buy it back from the Lord and it would be theirs again. And if a person vowed to give their land if God helped them then the estimation of the man's field would be set according to the seed and it would be a homer of barley seed which was valued at fifty shekels of silver......

17. If he sanctify his field from the year of jubile, according to thy estimation it shall stand.

18. But if he sanctify his field after the jubile, then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the jubile, and it shall be abated from thy estimation.

19. And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be assured to him.

20. And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more.

But if the person had santified or vowed their field from the year of jubilee then it would be to the priests estimate and it would stand but if he vowed to give his field after the year of jubilee was over then the priest was to figure unto him the amount of money according to the 49 years that remained until the next year of jubilee and the price would them be debated according to 49 years. Then if the person who vowed their field wanted to buy their field back redeeming it then they had to add a fifth part on top of the set price of the field in order to buy it back then the land would be assured to be his again. And if the person would not redeem or buy the field back from the Lord or if he sold the field in which he vowed to God to another man then his field could not be redeemed by that person again.

21. But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, shall be holy unto the Lord, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's.

22. And if a man sanctify unto the Lord a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession;

23. Then the priest shall reckon unto him the worth of thy estimation, even unto the year of the jubile: and he shall give thine estimation in that day, as a holy thing unto the Lord.

24. In the year of the jubile the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.

25. And all thy estimations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel.

If a person's field goeth out in the fiftieth year the year of jubilee it was to be holy to the Lord as was to be considered a field that was devoted to the Lord and the field was to become the possession of the priest's but if a man vowed their field in which they bought in the fiftieth year of jubilee in a vow that he owned then the priest had to figure the valued price of his field according to the time or amount of years until the next year of jubilee being 49 years and the value would be set based on those years and it would be considered holy unto the Lord this offering. Then in the year of jubilee when it came back around again the field that the person sold during the year of jubilee would then be returned unto the person who sold it being it's former owner who owned before it was set apart unto God. And all of these estimations and values that were set was to all be after the price or shekel of the sanctuary as twenty gerahs was to be the shekel. This of course was the ransom money that was discussed previously in the book of Exodus.

These were the laws that one had to follow when making a singular vow to God in order for God to accept the things they had vowed to Him in order to be accepted by God and if these were not followed then the vow would not be honored in God's eyes and it would be that the person who vowed to God did not pay their vow to God.

26. Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the Lord's firstling, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the Lord's.

27. And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to thine estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation.

28. Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the Lord of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the Lord.

29. None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.

These next verses 26-33 are things that was not accepted by God for payment for a person's vow made to Him. Which of course one could not offer the firstborn of their animals then turn around and try to redeem the animal the reason why one could not do this and not even vow these animals to God was because the firstborn of all their animals was already to belong to the Lord whether they was from the sheep or ox the firstborn was to be set apart unto God the firstborn males that opened up the matrix or womb according to the law. So if one brought a firstborn from their animals the Lord would not accept it as payment for their vows and be look at as not honoring their vows to the Lord as a result. But if the person bought a unclean animal then he could redeem the animal according to the price set by the priest and a fifth part added to that sum total or it could not be redeemed and would be sold according to the set value placed upon the animal. However the none devoted things being the firstborn males of their animals that already belong to the Lord and was to be set apart to God if one offered of the devoted firstborn males whether of animals or men belonging to God and then turned around and try to buy it back as obviously they would try to be tricking the priest in the matter as the priest would set the price on them then that person was to be put to death for devoting as payment for their vows something already belonging to God and then trying to buy it back and was to be put to death for it. As that person obviously had no respect unto the holy seperated things of God.

30. And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord.

31. And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.

32. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord.

33. He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

Then from the tithes of the land whether it was a tithe or offering from the seed of ones land or of the fruit of their trees the tithe belong to the Lord and was to be seperated unto Him in the firstfruits of their crops and in the feasts of harvest at the end of the year if you'll recall these things being discussed before as they belonged to the Lord and was considered holy consecration to Him. And if a person wanted to redeem and buy back his tithes from these things that belong to God then he was to add a fifth part of the set price unto it in order to buy it back. And concerning the tithe of a persons herd or of their flock then whatever passed under the rod then the tenth of firstborn was to be holy consecrated to the Lord and the person could not search whether they was good or bad and exchange them and if they did this at all then both the exchange plus the firstborn was to be holy consecrated to the Lord as a result and it could not be redeemed as all the firstborn of the flocks and herds belong to the Lord and was holy to Him.

34. These are the commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.

Then this last verse bring us to the conclustion of the book of Leviticus as these were the commandments in which the Lord had given and commanded Moses to teach and give unto the children of Israel while he was in mount Sinai so that they could make a distinction between clean and unclean or between right and wrong and not be like the heathen around them who followed idol gods and did wickedness in their land according to their own standards they made.

OC

I got alot out of this book of Leviticus this time around better understanding of the law and what it was all about anyhow I thought it was very interesting this time around going through the book and was a blessing.

Numbers 1

1. And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2. Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;

3. From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.

The Lord had spoken to Moses while in the wilderness of Sinai while he was inside the tabernacle that after the children of Israel comes out of the land of Egypt that he was to on the 1st day of the second month was to count up the sum total taking a census of the numbers of all the fighting men among their tribes that was 20 years and upward who could fight in battle and number them according to their tribes by their polls that was taken. As this chapter is about the organization of Israel's army as God is a God who has plans and is is a God of order and is setting his chosen people in order as the military census is taking as the Lord had instructed Moses to do. As we go along we will see further of God's order that he puts in place for His people by their ranks within the camp.

4. And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.

Of the tribe of Asher the men able for war 20 years and up was the sum total of 41,500

42. Of the children of Naphtali, throughout their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

43. Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

From the tribe of Naphtali the number of the military men 20 years and up able to go to war was in the sum total of 53,400

44. These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.

All of these twelve tribes were numbered by polls taken of the men God chose by name as they were the chief heads of the tribes as this was how their military men were numbered by Moses and Aaron as the princes or heads of each of the tribes of Israel one representing the house of their fathers took polls of their individual tribes and then met with Moses and Aaron and calculated the number of military men.

45. So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;

46. Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

So all of these tribes were finally numbered of the children of Israel according to the house of their fathers that was 20 years old and upward all of them that was able to go out and fight in war for Israel was all these men numbered which was their military cenus as God was organizing their armies and putting them in ranks. And all the men able to fight in a war 20 years and up was a grand total of 603,550

47. But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.

48. For the Lord had spoken unto Moses, saying,

49. Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:

50. But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.

51. And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

The Lord did not want the tribe of the Levites to be numbered among the other tribes because the Lord spoke to Moses telling him that the tribe of Levi was to be the only tribe left out of numbering them as Moses was to appoint the Levites and give them charge over the tabernacle and over all the things pertaining to the tabernacle in order to erect it and take it down again as they was to carry these things when they were on the march and set them up when they got into camp and was to pitch their tents round it as their was no strangers other than the Levites to come near or else they would be put to death.

52. And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.

God had a divine order and had placed each of the twelve tribes in a certain order in the camp and they was to pitch their tents in the camp according to that order and standard throughout all their host or their army of their individual tribes.

53. But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.

The Levites were to pitch their tents around about the tabernacle which was in the middle of the camp whenever they stopped traveling and would pitch their tents as all the other tribes would pitch their tents in the order in which the Lord placed them in. But the Levites were in charge of the tabernacle as they was the one's who the Lord set apart and had consecrated made holy in order to minister in the holy things of God only and was put in charge so the the Lord's wrath wouldn't come on the children of Israel.

54. And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so did they.

And the children of Israel obeyed and diid all that God had commanded Moses to tell them to do and organized themselves according to God's divine order.

14. And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,

37. And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.

38. But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

39. All that were numbered of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the Lord, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.

40. And the Lord said unto Moses, Number all the firstborn of the males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.

45. Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord.

46. And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;

47. Thou shalt even take five shekels apiece by the poll, after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the shekel is twenty gerahs:)

48. And thou shalt give the money, wherewith the odd number of them is to be redeemed, unto Aaron and to his sons.

49. And Moses took the redemption money of them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levites:

50. Of the firstborn of the children of Israel took he the money; a thousand three hundred and threescore and five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:

51. And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Numbers 2

1. And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

2. Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father's house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.

In this chapter the Lord is still getting his people organized as God is a God of organization instead of chaos and confusion and after the children of had finished up the military cenus in chapter one here the Lord further gives instructions regarding the organization and placement of the 12 tribes according to their armies as the Lord is organizing the camp of Israel the way he wants them to be whenever they break camp and begin marching forward and the way they are to come into camp and pitch their tents.

As the Lord speaks to Moses and Aaron telling them that every man from the children of Israel are to pitch their tents by their own standards with their ensign showing their father's house. As they were to pitch their tents in such a way as they would be far off from the tabernacle which would be set in the middle of the camp so they was to pitch far off in order for this to happen.

3. And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah.

4. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.

5. And those that do pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar: and Nethaneel the son of Zuar shall be captain of the children of Issachar.

6. And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

7. Then the tribe of Zebulun: and Eliab the son of Helon shall be captain of the children of Zebulun.

8. And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

9. All that were numbered in the camp of Judah were an hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, throughout their armies. These shall first set forth.

As I said that the Lord has a plan and was organized and is getting his people organized here. As on the east side of the camp facing the rising of the sun the tribe of Judah was to pitch their tents first as Nashon was the captain of the tribe of Judah as his army was 74,600 which was the army with the most people in it I noticed. Then the tribe of Issachar was to pitch their tents beside of the tribe of Judah on the east side of the camp as Nethaneel was the captain of the host of the tribe of Issachar as his army was 54,400. Then beside of the tribe of Issachar the tribe of Zebulun was to pitch their tents of the east side next to them as Eliab was the captain of the army of the tribe of Zebulun being 57,400. As these three tribes were all numbered or counted in the camp of Judah on the east side of the camp of Israel totally in number to be 186,400 men of war. As these three tribes Judah leading the was was to pitch all on the east side of the camp far off from the tabernacle that woud rest in the middle of the camp. But it was the tribe of Judah that was to lead the way forward when marching forward as the Lord Jesus Christ came from the tribe of Judah who is the Lion from the tribe of Judah in scriptures as Christ is the head of his mighty army as the tribe of Judah is leading the way unto the promised land whenever the children of Israel would march forward and then come into camp as these three tribes would camp on the east side being first into camp.

10. On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.

11. And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.

12. And those which pitch by him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the captain of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

13. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

14. Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.

15. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.

16. All that were numbered in the camp of Reuben were an hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, throughout their armies. And they shall set forth in the second rank.

Then on the south side of the camp going clockwise the tribe of Reuben would follow behind the tribe of Zebulun in order and the tribe of Reuben would pitch their tents on the south side of the camp as Elizur was the captain of the host of the tribe of Reuben being in number 46,500 men of war. Following the tribe of Reuben on the south side the tribe of Simeon would pitch their tents as Shelumiel was the captain of host of the tribe of Simeon being 59,300 men of war. Following the tribe of Simeon the tribe of Gad was to pitch beside of them on the south side of the camp as Eliasaph was the captain of the host being 45,650 men of war. So these three tribes made up the camp of Reuben on the south side of the camp being in total number of 151,450 men of war. This being the second rank in the army of Israel.

17. Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place by their standards.

Then following the tribe of Gad when marching forward you had the camp of the Levites which the Lord placed to march in the middle of the camp as they were bearing the holy things of the tabernacle and whenever they got into camp they would set up the tabernacle in the middle of the camp while the tribes were placed on the four sides about them by their tribes as the Lord was placing them to camp according to their ranks.

18. On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their armies: and the captain of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.

19. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five hundred.

20. And by him shall be the tribe of Manasseh: and the captain of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

21. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

22. Then the tribe of Benjamin: and the captain of the sons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni.

23. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.

24. All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were an hundred thousand and eight thousand and an hundred, throughout their armies. And they shall go forward in the third rank.

Then following the camp of the Levites still going clockwise the tribe of Ephraim was to go and when coming into camp they was to pitch their tents on the west side as the captain of the tribe of Ephraim was Elishama and his army of fighting men of war was 40,500. Then following and pitching their tents next to Ephraim was the tribe of Manasseh as the captain of the tribe of Manasseh was Gamaliel as the army of fighting men in the tribe of Manasseh was 32,200. Following the tribe of Manasseh was the tribe of Benjamin that would pitch next to the tribe of Manasseh as the captain of the tribe of Benjamin was Abidan and the number of fighting men in the tribe of Benjamin was 35,400 as these three tribes made up the camp of Ephraim on the west side being the third rank in the army of Israel being in total number of 108,100

25. The standard of the camp of Dan shall be on the north side by their armies: and the captain of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

26. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.

27. And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran.

28. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

29. Then the tribe of Naphtali: and the captain of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan.

30. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

31. All they that were numbered in the camp of Dan were an hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred. They shall go hindmost with their standards.

Then still going clockwise following the tribe of Benjamin would be the tribe of Dan who would pitch their tents in the camp up on the north side as the captain of the tribe of Dan was Ahiezer and the number of fighting men of war in the tribe of Dan was 62,700. Following the tribe of Dan would be the tribe of Asher that would pitch their tents beside of them as Pagiel was the captain of the army of fighting men of war in the tribe of Asher being 41,500 in number. Then following last in all of the tribes would be the tribe of Naptali that would pitch their tents on the north side beside of the tribe of Asher the captain of the host of the tribe of Naptali was Ahira and the number of fighting men of war in the tribe of Naptali was 53,400. As these three tribes made up the camp of Dan on the north side and total in number of fighting men to be 157,600 as they made up the hindmost or the rearguard of the camp of Israel according to their tribes in their ranks given them by the Lord's order.

32. These are those which were numbered of the children of Israel by the house of their fathers: all those that were numbered of the camps throughout their hosts were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

These were all the men from 20 years old and older who had been number being men from each of the twelve tribes that were able men of war that was number in the camps throughout their host according to their tribes. And the total number of able bodied fighting men of war 20 years and up was a grand total in the army of Israel of 603,500 men of war making up the army of Israel according to their ranks.

33. But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the Lord commanded Moses.

But none of the camp of the Levites was to be numbered among the men of war as these were Aaron and his sons who made up the priesthood in which they were set apart to minister in the priest's office concerning the holy things of the Lord according to the things of the tabernacle.

34. And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.

And the children of Israel followed the Lord's instructions and organized their camps according as the Lord had placed each of the tribes in His order.

When they marched forward breaking camp the six tribes on the east and south would set out then the camp of the levites with the tabernacle would go out folowing in the middle and the camp of the levites would be followed by the other six tribes on the west and north. And it didn't matter if the children of Israel was on the march or pitching thier tents for camp the tabernacle of the camp of the Levites were always in the center in the middle. And one tribe as you can see from the scriptures we just went through that only one tribe was given priority among the three tribes on the four sides of the tabernacle being the tribe of Judah on the east side, the tribe of Reuben on the south side, the tribe of Ephraim on the west side and the tribe of Dan on the north side

So when the children of Israel set forward breaking camp marching to the promise land this is how they went out in order going forward and coming into camp pitching their tents according to this order in their ranks.

The tribe of Judah

The tribe of Issachar-------these three tribes made up the camp of Judah on the east side

The tribe of Zebulun

The tribe of Reuben

The tribe of Simeon---------these three tribes made up the camp of Reuben on the south side

The tribe of Gad

Then the camp of the Levites bearing the tabernacle

The tribe of Ephraim

The tribe of Manasseh--------these three tribes made up the camp of Ephraim on the west side

The tribe of Benjamin

The tribe of Dan

The tribe of Asher-------------these three tribes made up the camp of Dan on the north side

The tribe of Naphtali

Numbers 3

1. These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the Lord spake with Moses in mount Sinai.

Now the Lord had gotten the army of Israel organized in their ranks when they went marching and the order they was to be in when they made camp. Now in this chapter you can see the Lord is organizing the priests and setting them in order as they was to pitch the tabernacle in the middle of the camp and pitch their tents around the tabernacle in the middle of the camp on the south, west, north and east sides of the tabernacle according to God's divine order as the tribes of Israel encamped all around them on the outside. But these were the generations of Aaron and Moses back when the Lord had spoken to Moses in Mount Sinai in which you can go back and read in Exodus 6:16-27

2. And these are the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

The names of the sons of Aaron was Nadab the firstborn, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar

3. These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest's office.

These four sons of Aaron given by name in verse # 2 were the priests that had been anointed and in whom was consecrated set apart and sanctified to minister in the priest's office. If you will recall reading it back in Exodus 28:41 and Leviticus 8 in whose hand he filled if I didn't get the scriptures wrong there.

4. And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the sight of Aaron their father.

And out of these four sons of Aaron it was Nadab the firstborn and Abihu that had died if you'll recall whenever they offered up the strange fire to the Lord on the altar of incense while they were in the wilderness of Sinai and because they died they had no children to be their successors in the priests office. You can go back and read this in Leviticus 10:1; Exodus 30:9 then drop down to verses 34-38 as this is what Nadab and Abihu did wrong they did not offer up the correct perfume on the altar of incense before the ark in the holy place before the Lord as the Lord had instructed and told them if they did then they would be cut off from his people and that is what happened So Eleazar and Ithamar Aaron's other two sons took Nadab and Abihu's place and ministered in the priest's office in the sight of their father Aaron.

5. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

6. Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.

7. And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

Now the Lord spoke to Moses telling him to bring the tribe of Levi near and to present them before Aaron the priest so that they may be able to minister unto Aaron himself. And the tribe of Levi was given charge over the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation to do all the work and service regarding the tabernacle and the holy things pertaining to it. look back at Numbers 1:50

8. And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

9. And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.

10. And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest's office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

The tribe of Levi was responsible for all the instruments used in the tabernacle and also the Lord had given the charge or responsibility to do the service and the work of the sanctuary and all that it entailed it was committed to their trust. And the Lord told Moses he was to give the tribe of Levi unto Aaron and to his sons for the Lord had chosen them out of all the other tribes of Israel and given them wholly over unto Aaron to serve in the priest's office at the tabernacle. As the Lord had told Moses to appoint Aaron and his sons to the priest's office as they was to wait on their time to enter into the priesthood as none other than the tribe of Levi could come near to minister in the things of the tabernacle no stranger was allowed or else they would be put to death for doing so.

11. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

12. And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;

13. Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the Lord.

The Lord spoke to Moses telling him that behold or look as I have taken the Levites out from among the other children of Israel instead of taking all the firstborn from among the children of Israel that was the firstborn that opened up the womb from among the other twelve tribes but instead I have taken the Levites to be mine. And the Lord said He did that because all the firstborn was His because on the day whenever He smote all the firstborn sons of the Egyptians that He had hallowed unto Himself all the firstborn males in Israel as that death angel passed over them sparing the firstborn males in Israel as the Lord spared all the firstborn males among man and beast as the death angel passed over the houses of the Hebrew children that awful night as they was a cry in the land like as had never been heard in Egypt and their wasn't a house where there wasn't mourning and weeping going on and the Lord said on that night that He hallowed the firstborn in Israel both man and beast as they would be His as He was the Lord.

14. And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,

15. Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them.

16. And Moses numbered them according to the word of the Lord, as he was commanded.

The Lord had spoken to Moses back in the wilderness of Sinai telling him to number or count the children of Levi after their fathers houses and according to their families as Moses was to make a count of every male from a month old and up. And Moses counted all the children of Levi as the Lord told him to do.

17. And these were the sons of Levi by their names; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.

And these were the sons of Levi being Gershon, Kohath and Merari

18. And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families; Libni, and Shimei.

And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families being Libni and Shimei to be numbered or counted from a month old upward

19. And the sons of Kohath by their families; Amram, and Izehar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

And the sons of Kohath by their families to be counted and numbered was Amram, Izehar, Hebron and Uzziel from a month old and upward

20. And the sons of Merari by their families; Mahli, and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers.

And the sons of Merari that was to be counted by their families was Mahli and Mushi as these were the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers from verses 17 -- 20 that was to be counted or numbered from a month old and upward

21. Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimites: these are the families of the Gershonites.

22. Those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, even those that were numbered of them were seven thousand and five hundred.

Now from Gershon was the family of the Libnites and the family of Shimites as these are known as the Gershonites and those that were numbered from these two families being males a month old and upward was in total number of 7,500

23. The families of the Gershonites shall pitch behind the tabernacle westward.

24. And the chief of the house of the father of the Gershonites shall be Eliasaph the son of Lael.

The Gershonite families was to pitch their tents behind the tabernacle in the center of the camp on the west side. And the chief or head of the Gershonites was to be Eliasaph

25. And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,

26. And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.

The Gershonites were put in charge and made responsible when breaking camp to bear or carry in their charge the tent, the covering of the tent, all the hanging for the door of the tabernacle, the hangings of the court, the curtain for the door of the court which was hanging around the tabernacle and the altar along with all the cords used for hanging the curtains. As these were put in their charge when breaking camp to march and for when coming into camp they would also put these up when pitching their tents.

27. And of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izeharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites.

28. In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.

From the families of the Kohathites was the Amramites, Izeharites, Hebronites and the Uzzielites making up the Kohathites and the number of males numbered among them a month old and upward were in total number of 8,600 who were keeping charge of the sanctuary.

29. The families of the sons of Kohath shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle southward.

30. And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.

31. And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.

And the Kohathites were to pitch their tents on the south side of the tabernacle in the center of the camp as the chief head of the Kohathites was to be Elizaphan. And the Kohathites were made resposible to keep the ark, the table of shewbread, the golden candlestick, and the altars both the brasen altar and the altar of incense and all the vessels of the sanctuary that sat in the most holy place and inside the holy place and also was in charge of the hanging and was to set these things in order when coming into camp and to take care of them while traveling after breaking camp.

32. And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary.

Now Eleazar one of the sons of Aaron was to be chief or head over the chief head of the Levites and was to have the oversight of those that kept the charge of the sanctuary to make sure everything was accounted for and done by the Lord's expectations and laws.

33. Of Merari was the family of the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites: these are the families of Merari.

34. And those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred.

Then from the families of Merari was the Mahlites and the Mushites that was numbered all the males from a month old and upward was a total in number of 6,200

35. And the chief of the house of the father of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail: these shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle northward.

36. And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto,

37. And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.

The chief head of the Merarites was to be Zuriel as the Merarites was to pitch their tents on the north side of the tabernacle in the center of the camp of Israel. And they was put in charge and responsible for the boards of the tabernacle, the bars, the pillars, the socket, and all the vessels thereof and all that pertained to the boards and the pillars of the court and their sockets with their pins and their cords. As they was responsible for carrying these things in their charge when breaking camp and setting them up when getting into camp.

38. But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

Now those that was to pitch and encamp before the tabernacle on the east side of the tabernacle in the center of the camp was to be Moses and Aaron and his sons keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the children of Israel in their care as they was no stranger to come nigh these things or they would be put to death as a result.

39. All that were numbered of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the Lord, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.

So all that had been numbered of the males of the Levites in which Moses and Aaron had numbered and counted by the commandment of the Lord to them according to their families from a month old and upward was total in number of 22,000

40. And the Lord said unto Moses, Number all the firstborn of the males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.

41. And thou shalt take the Levites for me (I am the Lord) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the children of Israel.

And then the Lord spoke to Moses and told him to number all the firstborn of the males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward and to take their count and to take a record of their names. And they was to take the Levites for the Lord as the Lord was God. They was to take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel. And they was to take the firstborn cattle of the Levites for the Lord instead of the firstborn from the cattle of the children of Israel.

42. And Moses numbered, as the Lord commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel.

43. And all the firstborn males by the number of names, from a month old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty and two thousand two hundred and threescore and thirteen.

So Moses counted as the Lord had commanded him all the firstborn males among the children of Israel and counted their names that was a month old and upward and out of those that were numbered of the firstborn males was 22,273

44. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

45. Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord.

Then the Lord spoke to Moses instructing him to take the Levites instead of all the firstborn males from among the children of Israel and to take the cattle of the Levites instead of the cattle from the children of Israel which was more than the Levites had. The Lord told Moses he was to take five shekels a piece according to the poll and after the shekel of the sanctuary he was to take them as a shekel was 20 gerahs

46. And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;

47. Thou shalt even take five shekels apiece by the poll, after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the shekel is twenty gerahs:)

He was to take this for those that are to be redeemed or bought back of the 273 of the firstborn males of the children of Israel which was more than the Levites. The Lord instructed Moses he was to take five shekel a piece by the poll after the shekel of the sanctuary he was to take them

And Moses was to give the money that was to redeem or buy back the odd number of them and give it to Aaron and his sons. And that is what Moses did he took the redemption money of them that was over and above them that was redeemed by the Levites and from the firstborn of the children of Israel he took the money from which was 1,365 shekels after the shekel of the sanctuary

51. And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.

As Moses gave that money from them that was redeemed unto Aaron and his sons as the Lord had commanded Moses to do according to His word.

While I agree keturah that there are deeper meanings to the bible than what is just on the surface, there is also the danger of reading too much into a passage, of finding allegories that are not meant. One shouldnt read more into a passage than He intended.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
