To say that Pope Benedict was the previous head of the Inquisition is misleading and shows your bias against the Church. Before being elected as the Pope, Cardinal Ratizinger was the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. His job was to make sure Catholic Bishops followed the doctrines of the Church. What is wrong with this? The Catholic Church is one body, not 28,000 splintered groups teaching what ever fits their fancy. You also try to paint this picture that all Popes were horrible people killing innocent people every chance they got, this is nothing more than Jack Chick propaganda. There have been a small number of Popes that have committed crimes against people, but this is a very small number and if often exaggerated like Amor has done above.

Yes, but the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith is the inquisition the name was changed in in 1908 and 1965, but it is the same organisation.

Saying that only a few Popes were a bit bad is also problematic because the Roman Church sees the Pope as God's annointed earthly representative. It is an absurd amount of power and prestige to give to any individual.

amor,

Where have you been for the last year that I have been on here writing. I have stated over and over again on here that the Pope is a sinner, kind of like Peter was. Some Popes have been bigger sinners than other, however not one of them has ever tried to change the Church. Don't you find this somewhat amazing??? No other intsitution can claim this. So even through the worst of the worst Popes the Doctrines of the Catholic Church have stayed in place. Refer to Mathew 16:18-19 Jesus gives us his promise that the gates of hell will never prevail against His Church, right after he gives a mortal man (Peter) the keys to kingdom on earth.

A sinner who thinks he's infallible a view sharedx by many of his most devout, if gullible followers, rather problematic. As to never changing doctrines, well itself infalibility itself was only adopted in 1870 as a doctrine leading the "Old Catholic Churches" to secede.

So did the Moslems go nuts when THE SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY OF THE MOSLEM WORLD--leader of the Moslem U. of Cairo--only two years ago said the Jews should be 'killed' and that they were the descendents of 'apes and pigs?'

Noooooooooooooooooooo.

These are depraved people. There are good Moslems, but by and large it is a religion which will take a good person and turn him swiftly into a raving demoniac. Fortunately 'Raving Demoniacalism' passes for the normality in most of the Moslem world!

And the above passes for raving in my books. Takes one to know one perhaps.

. I'm a decendent of Croatians. We weren't chosen to do anything but make HUGOs. And what a cruddy car that was. Possible the worst ever. But do you see us Croatians goin aroung blowing stuff up and issueing Fatwas. Heck no! We deal with it! Perhaps the children of Ismael could learn something from the Croatians.

Dan

Actually yeas, remember the bridge in Mostar, blown up by Bosnian Croat missiles in the recent Yugoslav conflict. There were plenty of other attacks, mainly on Serbs and there property in that conflict, in a similar way to Serb attacks on Muslims and Croats. Also remember the Ustashe Fascist Militia of the Nazi alllied Croat state in WW2. With there stated aim of killing 1/3 of Serbs Exiling !/3 and converting a third. Remember the 32,000 Jews they murdered. They all saw themselves as good pious Catholics, just as Bin Ladin sees himself a good pious Muslim, . But it did not stop them or him from being murderous religious fanatics.

Link about Ante Pavelic Croat Fascist leader, protected byelements withinCatholic Church after the war.

Link to a site about the Croat run Jasenovac concentration camp. Wiesentall on Janesovac: "The crimes of the fascist Ustashe against the Serbs in the notorious camp of Jasenovac must be known - crimes that are the worst ones along with those committed against the Jews in the Holocaust"

Do you still feel superior to those Muslims?

My guess was that he would do this. Apologize for the misunderstanding, but he isn't going to take back his words. Islam is underlined with violence and the leaders of this religion are looking for any reason to kill any non Muslim especially Jews and Christians. They look at the Pope as the leader of Christianity, so what ever he says they are going to respond to. Many times on here I have read people bash the Pope, this is a clear example of Pope Benedict standing up for Christianity on a world stage. The Pope is not the bad guy.

Well, he now is bending a bit. He said,

"These in fact were a quotation from a medieval text, which do not in any way express my personal thought."

... not in any way express his personal thought. Too bad, I was hoping it exactly expressed his personal thoughts.

Angry Muslims have bombed a church. Why? "We carried out this shooting because of the pope's statement, and he must apologise," a man, who refused to give his name, told AFP.

News article:

Gaza City - Assailants angry at Pope Benedict XVI's comments on Islam targeted several Christian churches across the Palestinian territories on Saturday, the second day of attacks directed at churches.

Will you justify the Palestinians attacking Christian churches, Amor?

I never have never sought to justify such things in the past, if you can find an example of me doing so please post it and expose me. I condemn such acts, and anyone be they Christian or Muslim who seek to exploit situations like this to ferment more hatred distrust and violence.

No my criticism of you was for yor gleeful little response with your invented quotes, if you can give a source for them, then go ahead and rebut me. As to the attacks on churches and the murder today of a nun in Somalia, I think they are horrible, evil acts. But it is not just Muslims who burn building and murder those who they see as representing those they see as others. Even on this board we have self-styled Christian posters wanting to see the Dome on the Rock fire-bombed, and little condemnation of those comments from the "Christian" posters here. In Britain and elsewhere we've seen Mosques as well as Churches firebombed, people atttacked on the streets because they are Muslims or look like Muslims. We also have Protestants and Catholics still attacking each other in Northern Ireland, and Chritians and Muslims attacking Jews and synagogues. Do you think those Christiansthugs are somehow better then the Muslims ones. Do yoiu think your type of post does anything to lessen those attacks. Would you feeel any responsibliity if one of your "brothers" or "sisters" here was themselves led to such evil acts as a result of your comments. I'm, by the way, not a Muslim despite your Mullah Amor jibes- I'm actually a Quaker why not attack me for what I am or do you not have any convenient bar room Quaker stereotypes to bandy arround. This is not a Muslim site, it is supposed to be a Chritian site, yet the sheer hatred bandied about by many here often leads me to question how much understanding of the gospels and respect for the teaching of Jesus many here have. As a Christian it seems essential part of my ministry to highlight these things and to challenge the attitudes of other posters on this Christian board.

Christianity and hate are incompatible

Amor: When you have experience of the Moslem world, and over 100 of your friends or professional colleagues have been MURDERED by the Moslems, you will have some basis for establishing an opinion regarding the world of Islam.

It is clear that 1: You know nothing about Islam, and 2: You are willing to approach an unfamiliar subject with an open mouth. May God forbid you should have to learn the TRUTH about Islam firsthand, my poor benighted friend! Given the chance, they will murder you and almost everyone you know.........

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
