On one hand most americans dont want right to bear arms messed with in anyway becuase the consitution is sacred, but on other hand they want laws brought in to gag people like these Westboro bunch, but that will be messing with the consitution and thier rights to free speech. Sorry but you cant have it both ways!

This is one of the deseases brought about by Democracy and Free Speech. to cure the desease you remove its cuase, governemnt be pleased to pass rules that will prohibit certain gatherings to make most of America happy that the Westboro lot have been stopped, but then those same laws can be used for more sinister things later on, or as a backdoor to allow more changes.

Freedom of speech and the like were meant for criticisms against the government, not necessarily against private citizens on private grounds.

Yes Kitty that is the group. They are such hateful, people. How anyone can call little Amish girls that were gunned down whores and laugh when they say they are burning in hell is more then I can comprehend. They call themselves Christians but I don't know what bible they are using. They are demonic. I find myself praying for their souls, because no matter how horrible they are to us, they are souls and God loves them.

ok, i'll probably get stoned for saying this, but i'm really not sure if they have souls to pray for. i think they are so hardened to God that they are pure evil. demonic. soulless. pray for their children, the next generation, that God would deliver them from the evil that resides in their own houses. but the adults, i believe they've been turned over to their reprobate minds.

No LadyC I have thought the same thing. Such hate has to be straight from hell itself and if that is the case then I agree they have no souls. As I said first, when I first saw this woman I could almost see the demons on her, her eyes were almost glazed over and she was vile in her speech. there are actually already laws in effect to the shouting of obsene and provoking speeches and gestures....

it is called "INCITING A RIOT"

now,

if these jokers do not like the idea of having the freedom of speech then let them move some where else, for all they are doing is protesting against their freedoms, protesting against those that have faught to obtain these freedoms, protesting against those that are fighting to preserve these freedoms, if they do not like their freedoms, then they can move..... TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY......

First you can start a church and call it whatever you want IE Baptist Pentacostal etc. That does not mean they are affiliated with a denomination.

Secondly what these people are doing is totally wrong but I am not sure I can say that they are evil in themselves rather that they are serving an evil thing.

I am not in any way defending them or what they do but I think the answer is to pray for them. Asking God to open the hearts of those that are with them so they can see that God is a God of love and mercy not a God of hate and despair. So let us not condone the actions but ask God to right the wrongs as he in his perfection knows truly what they are.

thank you for pointing that out. americans have heard our constitutional ammendments twisted to fit an agenda for so long that many times we forget (or never know to begin with) what the founding fathers meant.

our constitution is far more than the few snippets of text that are hashed and rehashed in the media. for each ammendment there is a whole preamble and pages and pages of text defining the little soundbites that become household phrases.

to add to what you pointed out, freedom of speech also comes with respopnsibility of speech, and consequences of speaking irresponsibly. for example, who would think freedom of speech gives an individual the freedom to make verbal threats against another individual, or to commit treason against our country, or to threaten with terrorist acts? nobody in their right mind.... and that's a good thing, since such things are not protected by the first ammendment.

the WBC engages in hate speech, but not only hate speech. they take freedom of expression to a whole new level, and while claiming to be doing God's work, they include graphic pornographic images on their signs of protest. pornography is legal in this country but one must be 18 to view it, and yet this family of wackos have their toddlers out there holding signs depicting such filth, and from the looks of it, their toddlers are encouraged to be the artists of that sort of thing.

that, of course, is referring to other protests, not necessarily the ones targeting grieving families. but this group's freedoms intrude on the rights of privacy for the families of the victims.
