What does it matter? He saved us from our sins. If we were so perfect, people would probably idolise us or we would be so self righteous that we might lose compassion and our ability to relate to the sinner in order to point him to the one who can forgive their sin. In some ways, our sin actually brings us to God and keeps us looking to him and dependant on him. We realise our inability to save ourselves and it helps to keep us humble.

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

I like your answer Idolsmasher ;)

Mel Recieving the Holy Spirit gives us the will to resist sin and do good works. Note I said Will.

When one is in agreement with God that His will is Good then we are rightious in Spirit. But we live in our faulty bodies and we war against ourselves every day. The Spirit our helper guides us in what we will to do. But it does not possess us like a demon and take us over turning us into Gods zombies.

Romans 7 and 8

14For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 21I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25I thank God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

Romans 6

1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

In His Love,

Suzanne

What I was getting at in my post above is that God does not solve our sin problem for us. He empowers us through the New Birth to overcome sin by His Spirit. As we grow in grace the Spirit becomes stronger and the draw of sin becomes weaker. As we love Him more, we love the world less. I do not think we will ever lose the ability to sin even in our new bodies. We better start losing the desire. It is how we prove to our selves that we do love him when we seek to please Him rather than gratify our selves. That is why he doesn't eradicat the sin nature.

You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. We are only free when we have the choice to sin and don't.

2Co 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

2Co 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Yes, WIM,

We are in agreement, that is what is REALLY called GRACE. It is not some invisible mercy given, it is the VERY VISIBLE POWER OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, working in us to overcome and have victory over the enemy. May we walk in His fullness!

I would have to agree with the pride thing,

if God made is so that when we received the FREE GIFT of SALVATION, that we would no longer ever sin, from that point on, eraticated them totally, we would become prideful, and then be placing ourselves above every one else.......

I do know that once you do accept the Gift of Salvation, and you do seek the Face of God continuously, and you seek to do His work daily, hourly, that you will start walking closer to Him, and the closer you walk with God, the less you do the things of this world......

Even Paul still had the thorn in his side.... why? to remind him who he was, and who God is.....

even those that are totally healed of ailments, of physical problems that normally would be a life time thing, still might have a slight flare up to remind them what had been done and who done it.....God has a way of keeping up in our place......

some people when they receive the Holy Spirit, they instantly change, some it is more gradual...

even when Jesus healed the blind man, one was able to see instantly....... another only a bit, for when he looked out he saw people walking around as trees ( sounds like his eye sight was pretty blurrry.....) and Jesus touched him again..... and then he saw completely.....

was Jesus loosing His power??? NO WAY... i believe He was showing us differances.... that not every healing will be the same, not every persons salvation will be the same, for we are all differant and thus each is a personal thing between us and God........

with my life it has been a gradual thing for years..... and every level has been a struggle.... each plateau i hit, being it was a struggle to get there, the more pleasent it is.... the more i appreciate it..... for the more a person has to struggle to get thru a trial, the greater the blessing will seem..... what is a blessing to me, may not be to you....

if God took and made it so I didnt sin a single time more after i had been saved, i probably would take the salvation for granted, and would not have to be on guard for the enemy... but, being I am still able to sin as if i desire, i have to remain on guard, i have to be alert for the enemy..... I have to maintain a constant watch and listen for the other watchmen..... and I dont think I would appreciate the enjoyment of being with the Lord, and having my personal time with the Lord as I do now.....

God does eradicate a person's sin nature when He saves a person.

Problem is, we are not saved YET.

I beg to differ here. We are saved. The bible tells us we are saved. WE are not yet perfected!

Oh my... we are continually growing and cleaning up our life as we go along! None of us can or will obtain perfection from sin until we are redeemed by Christ. In the meantime...we try to be obedient and not to sin.

But when we come to Christ and confess our sins, and give our lives to him... living as much humanly possible according to his ways.... WE ARE THEN SAVED!

Greetings in the name of Christ:

It does my heart good to read the commentary on a question like this because it gives me a great idea of the general thought of Christians who are seeking after these answers from the power of God's Spirit.

If we really look at this subject there are several things we find; 1. God took away the power of sin over our lives with the sacrifice of Christ for the remission of sin. Christ died for the forgiveness of sin past, present and, future, and so the the power of sin now longer has control over our relationship with God as long as we are faithful to cling to Christ. 2. Just like any father who wants to know the truth about those in His family who are loyal members of that family God wants to know that He can trust us. In a way we will be placed in the same position as Lucifer was when we are finally with God for all eternity, and that means that God must be completely sure of us just as we are of Him.

The whole idea of our becoming a child of God and responding to what He has done for us should be from the genuine love from our heart to His, but that isn't always the case. Many people today are faking their walk with God in one way or the other, and so that love and real love is tested within us as we build our lives upon the foundations of Christ within us. How much do we love Him? Are we willing to exchange the life we have here for the eternity that is promised to us by God?

God took away the things that have held us back from seeking after Him, but He didn't take away our will to choose over the sinful nature of this world and His freely given love for us. That is our part of this adoption process that needs to be worked out daily, and sometimes moment by moment. It isn't a matter that God wants for us to suffer here by the sinful nature that we have but He does want to know who really means business when it comes to their word of love to Him. It is all a part of that journey that we take of snacitfication, and separation from this world by the choices and convictions in Christ we dare to hold to. It is a part of our growth in Him. I hope that helps you. May you richly bless God through your life in Him;

The Unworthy Servant

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
