Also, we are not to pray for certain gifts but to accept whatever we are given. I've experienced some who felt that because they don't speak in tongues that they have no gifts. But if you are looking for something that isn't there you may very well miss the important attributes that are there.

I've heard this many times, The beliefe you have to speak in toungues to be baptised in the Holy Spirit. I dont believe because it holds no fact in the bible, or that all will speak in toungues, the bible actualy says the opposite, that each will recieve different ones. I'm not sure if we shouldnt pray for certain gifts, because when I prayed for toungues I was filled with the Holy Spirit and recieved it, and 1st corith 14, it says all desire to prophecie, and if you speak in toungues, also desire interpritation, so I dont feel it's wrong to pray for certain gifts, with knowing that You will recieve the gifts as the holy spirit wills.

Having the Holy Spirit, doesn't mean that you'll always recieve gifts, Though gifts are a sign, the holy spirit does way way more than just gifts. One thing I have realized is that many people have gifts without even realizing it. Anyways stay strong in the Lord. If you know Jesus personaly you've got the Holy Spirit.

1 Cor 12:8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;

9to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,

10and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.

11But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.

G, you don't have any of these things? :41:

my point of view is this, and then you can pray to know for yourself....

what is the purpose of the Holy Ghost? to teach, cleanse, gifts of the spirit, testifies of truth, etc.

if you hold a calling lets say you're a father or mother (parent) then you can receive personal revelation on how to help your family, kids, etc

if you hold a church position of somekind then you can receive personal revelation through the Holy Ghost on how to best perform your duties, help other lmembers of whom you are over with their problems etc.

1 chor 13 talks about charity, if you have gifts of the spirit/Holy Ghost and do not use them with charity then you are as a sounding brass, or what good are the gifts if you don't use them with charity, i.e. say you have the gift of tongues and instead of saying something uplifting you curse, take the Lord's name in vain, etc, what good is that gift, you need to use the gifts with charity with the end goal in mind that it will help one of God's children.

I agree, Charity in Greek actualy means love, alot of people don't realize that, what ever God gives you use it in love, and out of love, and I don't believe you could curse with the Gift of toungues. Concidering you have no clue what you are saying.

as far as tongues and interpretation of tongues, if someone is speaking in tongues and you can't understand them it doesn't really help you

if someone is there who can translate what the person is saying so all can understand everyone else etc then it is beneficial, interpretation of tongues and speaking in different tongues are gifts of the Spirit and aid in sharing God's love and word to every nation kindred tongue spirit etc so that all may be edified

Very true, but toungues I also believe is for self edification as well, like paul said, if you pray in toungues, and there is no interpriter available, pray in silence, I believe there are different types, theres where you speak in someones language, and witness to them guided by the Holy Spirit. and there is Personal toungues, where it's your spirit praying directly to GOd. That you cannot understand, This is why I believe it is concidered the least of the gifts.

We are told to ask for wisdom! And the Word says, "you have not because you ASK NOT." Just ask the Father. Do you think He doesn't want to gift us? He sure does! It is the giftings that enable us to do what God has planned for us to do! We all have gifts just waiting for us...ask! It is God's great pleasure to give to His Kingdom Kids!

But what about wisdom? I think you're wise. And faith. We all get the measure of faith. :41:

Giaour, not all gifts are as noticable as speaking in tongues. Some will come upon you when you most need them, some will always be there. As someone said earlier, those meant to serve will serve. Even glorifying God is using your gifts of praise and thankfulness. There are many types of blessings. Do not worry over these little things, everything you need will be provided. Everything you are meant to have, there is a purpose for it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
