Christmas and Easter? Pagan?

Wow what an absolute total generalization of everybody that celebrates holidays.

Well, call me crazy, but I love Christmas...every aspect of it. The carols (from Jingle Bells to Silent Night), the food, the decorations (from a tree to a Nativity), and the presents (giving and receiving). There's not a whole of goodwill in the world, and I don't see a problem with having it one day a year! Besides, sinners get a chance to hear the gospel whether they know it or not in the form of Christmas plays and TV specials, so I always pray that their hearts will be softened to receive it at least once in the year.

But also I see so much Xmas where people are taking christ out of CHRISTmas. I did the same before I became a christian.

I do have a tree but for decoration it can be very pretty. I worship God.

Santa doesn't come in our house, although my son still loves his stocking lol

We always start Christmas day by saying thank you to God, It is His day.

Another point, who elses birthday do you get presents on except your own.

I don't even care about getting any presents..I love giving presents away...I love the decorating, I love the Christmas carols of Jesus' birth...but I do celebrate His birth, life, and resurrection all throughout the year. I have heard that Christians shouldn't celebrate Christmas. My husband is taking classes from a college long distance, and one of his professors doesn't even celebrate Christmas, that was the first time I heard of Christians not celebrating Christmas. But we have talked it over thoroughly, and we have decided that we will celebrate it, but we will not teach our kids that Santa is bringing them gifts. Instead we will teach them the history of how Santa came to be about and what St. Nicolas did for many underpriveledged children. And then we will also teach them about the importance of giving and celebrating the Lord's birth. Even though the date is off, that is just when we celebrate it and we will teach our children that too.

Now, I may sound hypocritical, but we don't celebrate Easter. We actually celebrate Passover instead because of how Passover is symbolic of Christ being our sacrificial Lamb.

Well, Easter celebrates His resurrection...I don't see why people don't celebrate both.

As for me, I'll take any excuse to celebrate God and all He's done (and yes, that IS why I celebrate Christmas and Easter, no matter if some people think that the holidays have no real meaning)...that's why I love following the church calendar, actually; there's just so much celebration throughout the year!
