South Dakota Senator Hospitalized

Dec 13, 9:29 PM (ET)

By MARY CLARE JALONICK

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic Sen. Tim Johnson of South Dakota was hospitalized after becoming disoriented Wednesday, weeks before his party is to take control of the Senate by a one-vote margin.

Johnson, who turns 60 on Dec. 28, was admitted to George Washington University Hospital with an undiagnosed illness, said a spokeswoman, Julianne Fisher.

She said, however, the senator did not suffer a stroke or heart attack. His office had said earlier it was a possible stroke.

Fisher said Johnson would undergo further tests at the hospital Wednesday night. She said his office did not plan any more updates on his condition until Thursday.

Democrats won a 51-49 majority in the November election. South Dakota's Republican governor, Mike Rounds, would appoint a replacement to serve until the 2008 election should Johnson die or resign.

Johnson became disoriented during a conference call with reporters at midday Wednesday, stuttering in response to a question.

Before he ended the call, Johnson appeared to recover and asked if there were any additional questions.

Fisher said he then walked back to his Capitol office but appeared to not be feeling well. The Capitol physician came to his office and examined him, and it was decided he should go to the hospital.

He was taken to the hospital by ambulance around noon, Fisher said.

"It was caught very early," she said.

Grace to you,

I am not a Prophet. :th_praying: Yet I feel an utternace coming on. :D

If something happens, God forbid, to incapacitate this man. It will be less than 24 hours before someone starts to insinuate that the Neo - Cons had something to do with this. :21:

Matter of fact I bet one could find a blog somewhere where someone has already insinuated it.

Peace,

Dave

I post things from time to time as I live in SD. I pray for this man even though he is a Dem. and I am a Rep. I wish no harm to him and pray God that you let him have a full recovery in my Lords Name.

God has his hand on this state and the Government of SD has shown great courage leading America in the abortion issues to reverse it. God has started a work here in SD and intends to finish it. I truly think SD will lead this nation in the biggest revival ever witnessed in the history of our great country. I honestly think this forgiving and healing revival will start within the reservations here in SD. I humble myself before you my God.

I ask and pray that the tribes here in SD would forgive our trespasses and sins against their people. I ask this again because God cannot forgive anyone unless we forgive first. Please God forgive us and let these wonderful people here feel your presence and urge them to give into your loving spirit.

Grace to you,

I don't think so Butero.

Unless this man dies or is considered incapable of functioning. Literally brain dead. There will be no change.

Rush Limbaugh said this today, "Mark my words, if it means the balance of the Senate. The Dems will keep this man on life support for the remaining two years of his term". :th_praying:

Peace,

Dave

Grace to you,

The thing is this though Butero. If Johnson is incapacitated or literally brain dead. The Republican Governor of SD will appoint someone to the seat until 08.

This would end the Dems control over the Senate. Because it will be a 50/50 split with the Vice President deciding any major draws or splits of the 50/50.

Not too mention a whole bunch of the new Dems ran as Conservatives and will likely not vote with the Liberal agenda of the Dems. Plus to get anything done in the Senate. You need 60 votes. That is why the spin masters were estimating Gridlock in the Senate despite the House.

Time will tell. I pray Senator Johnson is okay. :th_praying:

Peace,

Dave

I really hope the Dems don't play with the man's life.

What also concerns me is which part of the brain was affected. What if there was damage done to his reasoning centers or something?

From what I've seen in the news, the affected area was in the cerebrum, which does not house the life-functioning centers, but a severe enough damage could really screw-up his life.

And frontal lobe damage has been known to drastically change a person's personality for the worse.

I can appreciate the Dems wanting to keep their power, but playing with a man's life? That's criminal!

Thanks original poster, et al, for praying for this man, I had already prayed long before reading this thread. I think that it is terrible to think about a shift in the balance of power at a moment like this and I'm Republican. I pray that he is well soon.

At this point, nobody by the Lord knows whether this man will live or die. It is all in his hands. As a Republican, I would love to see control of the Senate swing back to them, but am not praying for the death of Johnson for that to happen. I figure it is all in God's hands. He raises up and he pulls down. He gave the Dems control of the House and a small margin of control in the Senate. If it is his will they retain that control over the next two years they will, and if not, they won't.

I totally agree.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
