Yes I am very sure that He does. The reason I am sure is that I used to be a big horror story reader, James Herbert Stephen King and a few others. God asked me to throw them all out. These books put stuff in my mind that satan could use and he tried even after I had gotten rid of them but thankfully God was with me during these times and all was well.

I think we have to be very careful, What would Jesus do is a very good rule of thumb. So is garbage in garbage out.

Mat 6:21 for where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also.

Our heart should be in God always.

Blessings

And I still don't get it? How is it with statistics showing 85% of Adult Americans "claim" to be Christians, that we can have the filth and violence that we do on TV and movies? "R" rated movies and Desparate Housewives????

It doesn't add up, does it?

I personally don't think Christians should be reading Steven King but Im not the judge

I read alot of bio's and christian fiction also some true crime thats a hold over from when I worked at our local police station I read alot of old christian books written in the 1800's that are free downloads at onlinebooks.com

I am very careful about what I real and I don't like romace novels so those are out

When we stand before the Lord we will be held accountable for what we read and watch on tv what we filled our minds with what movies we went to we are without excuse on that issue

Irene, that's a fascinating response. I read 4 or 5 manuscripts a week, many by authors you would deem "unreadable" for Christians. No, it's porn, but I have worked on thrillers, serial killer novels, even romance novels.

The problem with making judgments on cultural things is that everybody has a different level of tolerance. Over the past year I have read, re-written, and written upwards of 20 serial killer novels, for example. I have yet to actually kill anybody, though. Mind you on paper, I have slaughtered untold numbers in the most imaginative ways you can think of. Things I won't tolerate are porn and excessive profane language. I have actually, as an editor, sliced and diced many a manuscript to eliminate that kind of over-the-top stuff only to have it re-inserted later by another editor, unfortunately.

At some point, we need to distinguish between what's real and what isn't. I would say that if you have a problem with Stephen King, don't read him, but don't judge those of us who do read him or work for him.

As to your last sentence, I would dearly love to read a verse that backs that up!

I think what we fail to neglect, is that "we" may think we are able to handle the violence, sex, horror, etc., but the impressionable minds of the children that are being exposed to this stuff, ARE NOT. The generation of kids coming up, OBVIOUSLY cannot handle this stuff. It is corrupting them and bringing about outrageous acts that reveal the effects of this stuff. (school/university shootings, just to name a few). We've got a nation of confused kids, who are confused over the images they are being bombarded with. It's not doing them ANY GOOD. And we are not caring for them, with all the junk we're promoting in the media.

Suzanne

I convict my own self in this post.

(KJVR) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

With regard to this topic:

The next time you go into a movie rental store, just take a look, and see how many of the new movies are either, demonically dark, or sexually explicit. And we wonder why our(this nation's) kids are so out of kilter. They are being raised on this stuff. Truly I am horrified when I see the "little" kids who come in to the rental stores with their parents, acknowledging that they have seen such horror movies, and think NOTHING of it. They are SO desensitized by this stuff, it's terrible...and tv, is no different. It's producing a society of uncompassionate kids, who have no sense of feelings toward good and bad, because their eyes are bombarded with immorality from the media.

It's way too convenient to point the finger at the TV or a book and say, "See what it did to my kid?" We have a generation of lost kids because we have a generation of parents who shouldn't have had childred to begin with because they haven't stepped up to the parenting plate. We have parents who use TV as an electronic babysitter or spend time with the kid watching adult programming thinking that's what "quality time" is all about! What's a kid doing watching or reading material designed for adults, anyway? No, these people don't have to look much further than the mirror to see who is short changing their kids.

And please be careful when using the pronoun "we." Not everybody allows their children to view or read adult-oriented material. I read adult material all day; my six year old does not. We do not allow him to view TV in the evenings and we have very rigid guidelines for what is on the TV or radio when he's in the house.

Let's be sure to take everyting Marnie is saying out of context, now. :emot-hug:

No, he doesn't. He gave us a brain to use, and to determine what is and what isn't worth our time.

For one thing, i wasted all of two hours on the BOM before i determined it wasn't fit for using as toilet paper. Didn't need God to tell me it was trash

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
