Bless you all,

I believe it's okay to have a brand new car as a believer.

Yet if the new car prevents you via payments from executing True Judgment? Then you better repent and seek righteousness.

In the same way it is okay to have satellite T.V with 152 channels. Yet if you are consummed with channel surfing to the point that you neglect your Lord? Then you better get a hatchet and whack the dish to pieces!

If you look at the new car and it causes you to say look at what my hand has wrought thru my hard work? I Love that car! :laugh: You better get a chainsaw and cut it clean in half . Better to go bankrupt then sell your birthright for a shiny hunk of metal . That is gonna burn with fervrent heat anyway. Crawl under your bed grab the fourposts and cry out ;

Dear Sweet Jesus! Change My Heart, Blot Out Mine Iniquity! For I Have Trespassed! My Heart Has Wrought Sin O' Lord! Against You and You Alone Blessed Jesus Have I Sinned!

If the Lord told you He was worth more than your opinion? Would you fast from it?

Peace,

Dave

Repentance is a state of ones spirit. Once you acknowledge you are a sinner needing salvation you are repentant. People who do not think they need saving don't accept Jesus as Messiah.

I was absolutely amazed at your smoking friend  What doctrines of demons has he been listening too? If one has to be perfect before one can have grace salvation then upon reaching a sinless state (IE NEVER) one has no longer a need for grace salvation.

So repentance does come before salvation and after salvation the Spirit convicts even more leading to greater repentance.

Sorry I have neglected responding the last few days. I have been consumed on another thread. Regardless, all your reponses were great and right on. I believe that we all can agree that there is the "act of" repentance and the "condition of" repentance. The act leads to our conversion and the condition is part of our sanctification empowered by the Holy Spirit. Thank you for all your responses. They fed me and increased my understanding.

I was absolutely amazed at your smoking friend  What doctrines of demons has he been listening too? If one has to be perfect before one can have grace salvation then upon reaching a sinless state (IE NEVER) one has no longer a need for grace salvation.

Me too and I have a burden for him. The doctrine was from a mainstream pentecostal denomination, one that use to teach that television was satan's tool and that one sip of wine was a ticket to hell. BAD doctrine!!!! Regardless, bad doctrine hurts people and can be long lasting. Please lift my friend up in prayer...him and his entire family (his son works for me and has issues as well). His name is Jackie --- God knows his last name.

God Bless all of you,

Wayne

Dad Ernie --- I reread your post. Well said and very sound. Many folks do not understand what you said with such great clarity.

I have heard some of you say that there is no need to repent from sin but self; I am not sure if there is a differance. God has given us all the grace to repent from sin or he would not require this of us. According to Gods word we are required to turn from sin or we will perish even if you have said the sinners prayer a millions times; does you no good unless you repent from sin.

Give me your opinion of the following scriptures:

Suppose I promise good people that they will live, then later they start sinning and believe they will be saved by the good they did in the past. These people will certainly be put to death because of their sins. Their good deeds will be forgotten. Suppose I warn wicked people that they will die because of their sins, and they stop sinning and start doing right. For example, they need to return anything they have taken as security for a loan and anything they have stolen. Then if they stop doing evil and start obeying my Law, they will live. Their past sins will be forgiven, and they will live because they have done right.

(Eze 33:13-16)

Does God require us to repent? Does Jesus say we must repent?

God forgives based on our repentance.

Luk 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

Luk 17:4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

Thanks and God bless,

Even our repentance is subject to grace.

Absolutely! Thank you Lord for the your Holy Spirit who convicts us of our sin and leads us into repentance! Amen

Excellent comments Anne. Thank you for them. My question was geared towards a deeper understanding of repentance (for me and all of us). A few posts back I wrote, "I believe that we all can agree that there is the "act of" repentance and the "condition of" repentance. [Am I splitting hairs?] The act leads to our conversion and the condition is part of our sanctification empowered by the Holy Spirit." I do not believe repentance from sin can be made complete without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, which is why we are to keep the full Armor of God on to withstand the flaming arrows that come our way from the evil one. Without the Holy Spirit to convict us when we sin, we could easily slide back into our old ways.

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

It is always thought provoking to ask simple questions at times...it takes us back to the basics, doesn't it.

Regarding what my church teaches, it is repentance leads to salvation but it doesn't go much deeper regarding a thorough understanding of repentance. I, as you stated, learn mostly from reading the Word as the Spirit gives understanding. It also helps having brothers and sisters in Christ willing to discuss and share, not argue.

Galatians 5:16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

God Bless,

Wayne

1 Cor 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

then by all means, get rid of anything that binds, anything that causes you to lose faith, anything that you might consider sin, which includes your eating habits, your free time activities, your relationships, your pride, things that you know you should do but don't.

Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We can readily see all of the things you have mentioned are to be gotten rid of, but there are more things to be evicted from the temple of God.

The letter was written to the whole Church at Corinth, and at Rome. Paul was talking more to the whole body as one unit than to individuals, although it applies to the individual also.

Please allow me to show you all something in Isaiah.

Isa 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

When we really think about it, every person on earth has at some time placed some sort of wicked band or heavy burden upon another. The sinner always thinks wickedness is the other guy's fault. But when denominations teach that "you must repent your sin," and then tell us "we can never be free from sin," and "a double minded man is unstable in all his ways," then who is really at fault.

Who is at fault when the members of his congregation sin? Who is responsible for placing that stronghold on the Body of Christ?

That one example is bands of wickedness placed on the wrists and ankles of the church members like shackles. That one teaching is a tremendous burden on the whole body of the Church. And it oppresses every member. What sort of yoke is religion placing on the whole world by telling the world that we can never be free from sin, when all the while Yeshua came to free us from our sin?

So how can we, as members of the Body of Christ, break that stronghold, unless we abandon every false teaching that we find, and search the scriptures for the answers on our own.

Amen!!!

Your right most churches teach that it is impossible to be set free from sin. I believe most churches lean toward the idea that we are not set free from sin but from the punishment of sin. But my understand is that Yahshua came to set us free from sin itself which causes punishment.

The bible says that under the new covenant God has inscribed his eternal laws on our heart so that we will not sin agaisnt him. Most Christinas believe that God has done away with law of God but contrary God has made the his laws intimate and placed them in our heart.

Yahshua has come to set us free from sin, which causes condemnation and punishment so that we will be a holy people set free from a life of sin and disobediance toward God.

God bless and I pray that we all grow each day in the grace and knowledge of God,

Jason

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
