SP, are you saying it's wrong to take your child to the doctor?

Nooooooooooooo, no way, did I type something wrong, I'll have to go back and look at what I posted, I thought I said that is NOT a belief of the CoC and I hope the girl a4 is talking about gets away from what ever nutty group she's got hooked up with that thinks that way.

You know I\m starting to believe that its maybe a different church I was checking out some churches in Moncton NB and I wonder if it was the Victory church, she said they are involved with Kenneth Copeland

I don't really know anything about that group or Kenneth Copeland other than what little I've read about him here, so I can't help on this...............sorry, but I still will pray for them!

Hummmmmm, this is an interesting thread.

I like Silent grew up in the CoC, but no longer attend worship there. There are things taught that I just can't go along with and didn't want to disrupt things so I just stopped going.

Baptism was one of the things that was a bother to me, for when I was a junior in high school, one of the boys in the class one year behind us was saved during a Wednesday night service, and was to be baptized on Sunday...... he was killed in a car wreck, as I remember, on Friday night. Well I was shocked to find that many of the members in my church said he would go to hell because he was not baptized....... they horrified when two of the elders told me that none of my friends that had not been baptized by a member of the CoC would be allowed to enter heaven........

I later was taught that the Father, The Son, and the Holy spirit was the same thing just in different time frames....... Jesus is literally the Father in the Flesh and now is the Holy Spirit and will return as Christ in the end.

Well while I am not a traditional trinitarian, I just couldn't go along with that..... Actually as I stopped reading my Sunday School books and started reading the Bible there were many things I just couldn't buy, and as I asked questions is sort of brought out feelings that I really wasn't welcome there and after a while it got to be a burden to us all so I left and went on a quest to fine the new testament church.

As for CoC people, they are usually pretty dedicated people and do express a lot of love...... good people with doctrines that just don't align with mine.

BTW they do take their kids to the doctor and pray for them on the way.......

This is my experience across many years and several different congregations.

:emot-drool:

a4, there is already a thread on here started by greymousey that pretty much insults me and everything about the church I grew up in
:emot-drool:

Please Forgive Us Dear Heart.

You are treasured at Worthy Dear Sister Mine and Beloved of The KING.

:emot-drool:

Belief of "the Church of Christ"

What shall we do?" And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, every one whom the Lord our God calls to him.
Acts 2:37-39

Me Too!

Although I have been baptized three times (9 deep dips!), I do not believe we "need" to splash water upon The Blood shed for the remission of sins to receive God's Salvation.

Neither do my beloved brothers in The Church of Christ,

Although if you hang with these dear folk, you are doing to get wet Just as soon as they can find water!

Hallelujah!

I love then so!

They are my dear brothers and sisters in The Lord Jesus Christ and this quibbling will all go when The Holy Ghost give us our finial Baptism of Holy Fire as we go into the very presence of The Living God.!

I can hardly wait!

Maranatha!

Hallelujah!

Love, Your Brother Joe

Ok, I want to warn people about Churches of Christ like this one. We do baptize young teenagers, we don't tell people they are saved and then schedule a baptism later (we do it on the spot), we don't teach the Godhead as explained here, and we do take our kids to the doctor all the time. One of our preachers in Boise, ID is actually a physician. Even Luke was a physician. We pray constantly for our children for their health and welfare.

Please be very careful where you go to seek to worship. This is why we were given the gospel and I will give the same advice that Christ gave his people -

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

There are a lot of really freaky churches that like to bear our name or a variation of it that teach some off the wall things. Please put to the test anything any church, preacher, or member tries to teach you against the bible. If you can't find what they teach to be supported by the bible then they probably are not of truth.

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Do you know the doctrine of CoC?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
