Well Stephen,

I guess we are talking about different aspects of God's image.

But thanks for your input ;)

Praise God, in whatever image, form or no-form He may be in ;)

Blessings :):wub::24:

Sorry, hupo, if I got the wrong end of the stick here. I only just got back from working away, and haven't had time to read the whole of the replies, or get the gist of your meaning.

I will try to get back to it later, after having checked other things on my computer while I have been away :) ...then I will hopefully be able to throw in my 2 'euros'.......for whatever it's worth :24:

No, Stephan, you didn't get the wrong end. :emot-hug:

I did start off by saying there is a contradiction.

I just don't like staying stuck with my own view just because it's my own view.

Things have changed for me since the begining of this thread.

and....speaking of 'euroes'... your two are as good as anyone elses :):)

God created man in His own image. Says so in scripture....

Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Yet it also says.....

Gen 2:7 then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

So God created man, from dust, and without life, until He breathed life into Him

Something dead created from dust.......... that is God's image ?

How would you explain this contradiction? :24:

God is unconditional love, and He created us to be unconditional love too!

Man, that's great.....I love a person who is willing to learn and, when necessary, abandon their old, incorrect views.

Equally, I admire a person who sticks to their guns when they know they are right.

Peace to you, Brother.

The difficulty is often in knowing when we are assuredly right, is it not?

God bless you. As I know He does already, and will continue to do so. :emot-handshake:

:th_praying::th_praying: difficulty??!! now this IS a contradiction if there ever was one :rolleyes:

Knowing when you are right or wrong entails using the mind.

We cannot know God with our mind.

Our relationship with God is by Faith.

Contradiction:- How can we possibly know something by Faith ?

(it's a rethorical question of course :emot-hug: I know there is a special way of "knowing" God, but why ruin a good contradiction? :th_praying: )

Peace in Him :emot-handshake::emot-handshake::emot-handshake:

Ah....but you CAN know something by faith. And it is stronger than the (solid?) ground you walk on.

Great picture of the kids on your profile, by the way. Who are they?

'hupo'

I had thoughts about this particular question and the (seemingly) different creation of man in the two chapters.

My thoughts were that maybe in chapter one God created Man, as the context of what mankind should be, or can be.

While in chapter two he created the first man, with all his weaknesses.

Therefore the man in chapter two can become the man in chapter 1 (in God's image) when he fulfills the role God gave him. As we know he didn't start off too well and all of humankind is suffering for that original sin. Yet the potential is always there. Each and every one of us can become what God made available for us, that is, to be in HIS image.

I don't know how this sits with you citizens of Worthy, but it was definatly going around in my mind and amongst other things, solved the paradox of the two creations of man.

Just a flow of thoughts.........

Hello hupo,

You do certainly have interesting thoughts and meditations of heart. I would like to share some of my thoughts and meditations of heart concerning this that perhaps you never thought of before. First off I don't believe that God created man twice.

Have you ever looked at it this way in chapter one there seems to be a coversation going on amongst the godhead and in this conversation the godhead decided that they were going to create a man and the godhead decided what that man was going to look like and how he would be created in the image of God being three part being and then the godhead even decided what this man was going to be doing after he was created and that was to have a wife and have dominion of all that God had created as He was to be the head of the earthly family.

So what I am saying is in chapter 1 God is purposing in His mind what He wants man to be like and do on earth before He actually creates Adam and Eve in chapter 2 of Genesis.

You know it says in the Word that we were fearfully and wonderfully made speaking of while we were in our mother's womb as God created and molded us there. But Adam the first man and Eve were not created and molded that way. You hear that we were in God's mind before we were ever concieved God knew us.

I sorta think this was the kind of thing that was going on within the text or at least that is what I have seen in my meditation of the word in this area. Just some thoughts I thought others and yourself would be interested in.

blessings

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
