God created marriage for our benefit.

Genesis 2:18-24 18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.

But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

23 The man said,

"This is now bone of my bones

and flesh of my flesh;

she shall be called 'woman, '

for she was taken out of man."

24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

God created marriage to help us resist temptation.

1 Corinthians 7:1-2 1 Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry. 2 But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.

It is not necessary to marry. [i have known several woman throughout my life who never married.]

1 Corinthians 7:7 But I wish everyone were single, just as I am. But God gives to some the gift of marriage, and to others the gift of singleness.[NLT]

Marriage is honorable.

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

God says marriage is a good thing.

Proverbs 18:22 He who finds a wife finds what is good

and receives favor from the LORD.

Marriage is a picture of the relationship between Christ and the church.

Revelation 21:2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 19:7 "Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready."

Isaiah 65:2 For as a young man marries a virgin,So your sons will marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So your God will rejoice over you.

Good answers I think all around.

Another question may be, what would the world look like with no marriage at all, no boundaries for romantic relationships, just random involvement with no future and no expectations? It seems the impact on society would be great and very negative. This is why so many of us are concerned about the state of marriage in our modern culture today.

:emot-wave: Excellent. And I would add that marriage is not solely for propagation. That's an insulting view for people that don't like kids or can't have them.

Shalom,

Amen all around.

From someone who has been married one time and for soon-to-be 25 years, I can speak very highly of it, IF Jesus is glorified in the marriage, and the husband and wife live according to the Word.

None, you're horrible

Thankyou everyone so very much  I had forgotten that God provided Adam with a helpmeet and I guess I have these questions because I'm not married or anywhere close for that matter (that I know of :whistling: ). Companionship and many of the things mentioned here and reasons that I really want to get married.. have someone to hold me close, some I can be there for when he is in need and then the little things that you hear that couples do for each other that are just so sweet... to raise a family in the Lord, but the more I thought about it, the more I wondered as to "why get married". As already said, and as shown, there are *many* different reasons to get married and it seems that most of them (all from what I saw) are reasonable and legit reasons to get married... I just know that marraige isn't all about certain aspects that are shown on the TV, on the internet, in stores, and where I go to school... I just know that there has to be so much more to it and I was wondering if companionship is really honorable because the thought of "I want someone to hold me close... warmth, etc.. Some to grow old with", I guess becuase I can't see that far, seems almost selfish to me... unless you look at being there for them... loving them and being there and helping them grow too... Thankyou :21:

marriage is to be worked at

most don't want to bother it is easy to divorce

Marriage and divorce was addressed on TBN Paul crouch said

if I took everyone off who is divorced and remarried I would loose half of my preachers

NOW THAT IS A SAD STATEMENT comming from a chrisitian TV station

christian divorce rate is just as high as non christians

marriage is work and if you don't want to work at it don't do it

lets also put this in

Paul said it is better to marry then to burn

marriage is the legal way to have sex and all this sleeping around now there will be a price to pay

no one sees any thing wrong with premarital sex except the christians Well God sees alot wrong with it

In Christ

Paul said it is better to marry then to burn.

I'm pretty sure there are pills now for this "burn" Paul was speaking of, given that it's 2007, the medicated generation.

That is, if someone truely had a problem. There are diet pills and people find nothing wrong with taking these, why not antisexdrive pills? They take day-after pills(just in case), possibly killing a child, why not prevent the whole problem before it starts and take an antisexdrive pill? They do it for perverts who target children. Pharmaceutical companies won't put money into this type of research like they do birthcontrol pills because it would make too much sense for satan's cause not to do so.

It's better not to marry, ever.

I'm sorry if that sounds horrible but, hey, Paul agrees.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
