I believe John 14:21 will help set the heart right.

Whoever knows and obeys my commandments is the person who loves me. Those who love me will have my Father's love, and I, too, will love them and show myself to them."
What are the commandments of the Lord. The love God with all your heart, mind and strengthen, love your neighbor as yourself story comes in.

But one that we most forget or don't take to mind all the time is Matthew 28:19

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
There is no peace greater than this, doing the will of God. It is important to know and understand what is that the Lord require of you? You can never be at peace with yourself, God and others unless you are walking in the will of God for your life. The Holy Spirit keeps us fill with God's love in an amazing way that words can not express.

Once you know the commandments and you keep them you can never miss the Father's Love John 14:21.

It may help you to remember that we are saved by GRACE, not by our works.

Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

As you grow in HIS GRACE, you will want to do things for HIM. It is not by your own works but the HOLY SPIRIT ANNOINTING and QUICKENING within you that you will be able to WORK in the SPIRIT in which the LORD has moved you...do not labor in vain, but give everything that you do, to the LORD. You will find in time, that you can't outlove the LORD. But HE will well up within you a SPIRIT of LOVE that will overflow and be passed on to others. HE wants you to pass on the LOVE! :whistling:

You are not under the LAW, but under HIS GRACE. No man can fulfill the LAW, except JESUS. Because JESUS was the only one who could be the LAMB that takes away our sins.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

It truly is a beautiful love affair with our LORD and SAVIOR! AMEN.

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Rest assured, you are a Child of the KING! :noidea:

Spend time in nature giving thanks for all the diverse plants and world He has created.

I find going to the beach and meditating on Psalm 46 is amazing.

Well, I haven't got a beach nearby, but God's wonderful creation is all around me.

I did what you suggested and meditated on Psalm 46. I also did what I was advised to do a long time ago and personalised the Psalm to myself. This is what some of the Psalm looked like after being personalised:

Psalm 46 (New International Version)

1 God is Afal's refuge and strength,

an ever-present help in trouble.

2 Therefore she will not fear, though the earth give way

and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

3 though its waters roar and foam

and the mountains quake with their surging.

Selah

7 The LORD Almighty is with Afal;

the God of Jacob is her fortress.

Selah

10 "Be still, Afal, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth."

11 The LORD Almighty is with me;

the God of Jacob is my fortress.

Selah

I particularly liked the first part of verse 10 - "Be still, Afal, and know that I am God;". There is just too much going on in my life at the moment, but God wants me to take a step back and BE STILL and rest in the knowledge that He is God. Amen to that!

I hope that this is the right place to ask my question. :emot-puke:

This afternoon, I became convinced that I didn't love God enough.

So ... How can I love Him more?

My list so far includes:

1. Read the Bible more

2. Pray more.

3. Sin less.

Any other suggestions?

I think that I need to know Him more before I can love Him more.

What do you think? Any advice will be gratefully received as I really am frustrated by this thought.

Thanks

Mark 12:30 is a great verse:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.

Mark 12:30 HCSB

Jesus also extended that passage by stating we should love others as we love ourselves.

So I think we love God by allowing him to transform each area of our lives (Mind, Soul, Heart and Strength) so we think, feel, act and do like Jesus would. Secondly we love God by experiencing His love for us, and then letting that love extend beyond ourselves to others.

You're on the right track, Afal. Don't forget that God loves others through you and being open to His work through you is showing Him you love Him.

These things keep our minds on Him - we're not trying to earn our salvation - "Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments."

I realise that I can not earn my salvation. I am glad that that is a free gift from God. I think that what I was trying to say in my post was that I need to know Him more so that I can love Him more. I feel that my love towards God is less than He deserves.

Thank you for all of the useful replies.

This thought should not flustrate you at all. First you are where you are in your relationship with the Lord there is no need to rush things in this avenue as relationships have to grow and that takes time as you seek Him you will find Him and as you knock He will open up to you. Knowing God is the greatest thing a person can embark upon in life as many know of God but don't know Him. Spending time in God's presence sharing yourself with the Lord and spending time listening for His voice are important. God's word teaches us the history from the foundation of the earth and one can gain a good and greater understanding of who and what God is all about by reading His word from Genesis to Revelation and then read it again and again as each time you will learn more and more and your knowledge of God will grow and you will begin to understand the heart of God which is what one should be after. Love has a beginning and then it has to grow as the Lord also want to know you just as much in the relationship and He wants to know you more as well.

For the weakness of God is stronger than man as it is our love for God that makes God's heart weak toward us because He see's our love for Him displayed and acted out in front of Him and He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
