well here's my take on it. i really know nothing of the woman. i skimmed through what she believes on her website this afternoon, and didn't see anything that raised any red flags. everything else i know about her has come from the gossip i read about her right here.

i'm quite sure she has sin in her life. whether it's greed, or materialism, or what-have-you. but ya know what? i have sin in my life too, and yet God manages to use me, despite myself. and ya know what else? God manages to use her, despite herself, too.

and God has taught me something through all this... He has taught me that He will use whom He will use, and it's not up to me to decide whether someone else is worthy enough to be used. nor is it up to me to judge the intent of her heart. i can only judge her fruit, and while there may be some sour apples that some of you may find, there's apparently plenty of good fruit as well.

while i can't say i thoroughly enjoyed listening to her (i really don't care for her voice, or the manner in which she speaks, and not even particularly how she dresses), i was blessed by the message she taught on that video tape, and i have no doubt that thousands of other women have been blessed by it as well.

i think we'd all do well to remember that what we're doing here is the equivalent of gossip, and that is as much a sin as her greed, if indeed she is greedy. and i don't know that she's greedy... she could just be incredibly blessed. i'll leave that up to God to judge and worry about my own sin.

I just wanted to say something here concerning wof and the teaching of false doctrine. I have been thinking about this for some time and I think I have an answer, at least an answer for me anyway, of what it is about wof that is troublesome to some people.

First of all, I realize that some of the preachers that have been associated with that group/wof, I myself don't trust. I've read what forrest said about money in this thread and I think he is right on. I believe though, that God does bless some of the preachers with abundance, but since we are all sinners, some of these preachers don't put themselves or their ministries completely second and they will be judged by God accordingly.

Now back to what it is about wof that may trouble people. I put up a thread about Joel Osteen not too long ago and now I see this thread about Joyce Meyer. I find that people that disagree with wof generally use the argument that "name it claim it" is false doctrine. It is false doctrine when you are taught to put your own wants ahead of God's will, but after listening to Osteen and Meyer, that is not what they are saying or how they are saying it. They are saying that if you ask for something, the Lord will fulfil that request if it is in His will. This is what I have heard them say.

What I think is actually troubling to a lot of people is that this is somewhat of a new understanding of what the Scriptures say. I had a hunch and I did a seach on the word baptism and baptise and found that those words are only found in the New Testament. This surprised me. I did a seach on 'history of baptism' and found the following...

What's the History of Christian Baptism?

Baptism is Rooted in Jewish Law

Sooner or later, no matter how much care is taken to keep something clean, everything gets dirty. God provided a set of standards to demonstrate this principle. That set of standards, the Levitical Law, provides the instructions on how to recognize the dirt --uncleanliness-- and also the procedures for ceremonially cleaning them. The cleansings, or baptisms, were for everything from mildew on walls (Lev 14:33-53), to purification after child birth (Lev 12:1-8), to acceptance of a healed "leper" back into the community. (Lev 13:1-36, 14:1-32). So when the people saw John baptizing at the river Jordan, they thought that he was just following those traditions of cleansing.

...Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized. Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were constantly coming to be baptized. (This was before John was put in prison.) An argument developed between some of John's disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing.

They came to John and said to him, 'Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side the Jordan, the one you testified about-- well, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him." To this John replied, "A man can receive only what is given him from heaven. You yourselves can testify that I said, 'I am not the Christ but am sent ahead of him.'" (John 3:22-28)

http://myredeemer.org/foundation/baptism/history.shtml

As I suspected Johns type of baptism was new to the people at the time (baptise for the repentance of sin), at least in that manner. He was baptising in a manner that was not done before and even the Pharisees and Sadducees used this later to try and trick Jesus. But Jesus said to them...

Mat 21:32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen [it], repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

I see Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen coming to the people in righteousness also and because of the way they are teaching, people are repenting and becoming saved. You may not agree with the specific manner they are doing it just as people didn't understand what John was doing. I honestly believe that some people who have heard these two preach and were saved may not have been saved if they had heard a more commonly accepted/expected approach given by preachers a lot of us easily accept, and that was God's Will putting those people in that situation...

I was almost effected by the negativity presented on here by certain teleevangelists. It seems that anyone that ends up appearing on TBN or the other major networks ends up a target for iniquity and division. Thank you for sharing your confession. We should all test the spirits of each individual and not allow the comments of others to effect our ability to recieve from others. G-d will use anyone...even the greatest of sinners to speak to us. G-d even used a donkey to speak to someone once, so we must be open to receive even from unexpected places.

ya know, i've been guilty of something and i'd like to confess.

i've had a very negative opinion of joyce meyer for years, because even though i'd never listened to her myself, i'd listened to what people here had to say about her... and i JUDGED her, accordingly.

last week i watched a video of one of her conferences, and i was BLESSED by it. and i LEARNED from it. the subject was control freaks.... either being a control freak and hurting those around you, or being such a wuss that you let yourself be a doormat for a control freak in your life. and the overall message she gave was to stand up and be a woman of God, and allow Him to be in control.

i wonder how many people buy into the gossip they hear on worthyboards about her, and develop a hateful attitude towards her because of it? i know i've been guilty. and yet even up until this moment, even as i type this out, it never occurred to me to repent for my attitude.

i think i'll go do that now. have a nice day, everyone.

yeah what ever, false doctrine is false doctrine...............WOF is false doctrine.

Only some people that people label as Word of Faith has some falsehood. Not all Word of Faith are false teachers. Joyce Meyer is definitely in that false category.

Defending God and His Holy Word is more important than defending WOF! I surely cannot understand why Jesus is always pushed to the back and man supports the arm of flesh yet again!

Sorry to say this post has gone off the original issue! :)

I don't buy into the gossip...Just because someone has a ministry and GOd has blessed their ministry..doesn't make them bad leaders..all I have to say on the issue...

oh and that Joyce Meyers teaching has helped me a lot..and her latest novel is a must read for those who like to read...

Well you can always try reading the Holy Bible :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
