There's a few things we need to remember here, myself included.

The truth should come out when the suit goes to court. I don't think any attorney would think of filing something like that lawsuit unless he/she was reasonably certain they had enough proof to make it worthwhile.

One student was quoted in the article as moving to a different school because he didn't want the possible scandal tainting his degree and possibly his future. I don't blame him. Now that the news is out about this, its probably going to hurt a lot of people who are just trying to get their education. That stinks.

I'm going to keep an eye on things and see what develops.

It's really sad when this kind of thing breaks loose. I'm sure the world will love every minute of all the "dirty laundry". The church in America needs to clean up its act.

Man is sinful. And a rich man can sin more because of their riches. Jesus said that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven. Satan will tease us with a little lie, and if we believe one little lie, then we allow the lies to get bigger. I would like to believe that when they first came to Christ, they were sincere believers. Somewhere down the line, sin entered their heart and the seed grew.

We do have to bring this out in the open, very carefully. We all have the possibility to sin greatly and should use this as a reminder of how sin will destroy a walk, but not salvation. All Christians will have to stand before God and give account for their deeds, whether great or small. Even though what they did seems large, we need to remember that sin is sin. We should pray for our brothers and sisters, not publicly humiliate them. The world will do a good enough job all by themselves. Taking these offenses to the church body is one thing, but displaying our dirty laundry to the world is another, and should not be done.

Be careful of you choice of words.

Your Brother in Christ,

OneLight

Twenty years ago, televangelist Oral Roberts said he was reading a spy novel when God appeared to him and told him to raise $8 million for Roberts' university, or else he would be "called home."

I've never had God speak to me through a spy novel...Usually He speaks to me through His Word... :whistling:

I think we need to keep an eye on how this develops. At one time, I actually considered going to ORU; one of their programs back then was highly respected and of interest to me. Man is inherently sinful; I say that not just about the Roberts' but also about the press, and about students who may or may not have their own agenda.

This thread is a classic demonstration of Christian attitude. Many christians sit back and look for an opportunity to judge other Christians. So many people on here actually are seething, hoping the allegations are true. They are not praying for their Christian brother in time of trouble. They are not waiting to see if the allegations are confirmed or refuted. They are sitting back as vultures, ready to tear the flesh of a wounded Christian brother. This thread is a classic example of christians waiting for their brother to stumble so they can jump on top of the brother and finish him off. What ever happened to helping our brother in need? We as Christians should uplift ans support our brother in his time of need. The attitude on here is almost sickening. So many on here obviously hope the allegations are true. There are many on here who most obviously would like to see O.R.U. cease to exist and the ministry of Richard Roberts crumble.

There are ministries I do not agree with. I pray for them, not sit back and wish for their demise. Recently a prominent Southern Baptist National Leader encouraged his members to pray for misfortunes and callamity to befall his enemies. He quoted some of David's prayers from the Psalms asking for destruction and dessimatio of his enemies. What was my attitude toward this minister? Pray for him. I do not want his ministry ruined. I want his ministry restored.

There are people on these boards that seem to harbor hate for their bretheren of different denominations. It sickens me that so many sit back waiting for their brother to stumble, so they can stick the knife in and twist it. I am by no means one who quotes "Judge not, lest ye be judged." That scripture is over used and taken way past its context. However, some Christians should realize that by the standard they judge other, so will they be judged. When the Christian that is always helping his brother, kind, loving, picking up his brother in need does stumble; people will treat him as he has treated them. When the self righteous hypocrite stumbles, his peers will be hoovering about; waiting to deliver the death blow.

I know what you are trying to say hr.jr, but you are also talking to yourself when you put it the way you did. We should all re-read what we post prior to hitting the "add reply" button.

Bravo, it may be a little bold but that needed to be said. :mgfrog:

Agreed - it's one thing to warn others of sin by "demonstration" - but flinging mud is another.

I wonder what happened to "There but for the grace of God go I."

Or better yet - who here has offered a prayer for those involved to repent and be restored?

Sorry, but I'm not supporting any preacher who will not repent after saying God wants cash or he's gonna "off" him.

Or live in multi-million dollar homes, with Rolls Royces and private jets, or spend millions on giant glass churches just for the ego-stroke, promising people that God is just waiting to bless them, but only if you buy a jar of annoited oil or some ragged prayer cloth, while people are hungry and homeless in the neighborhood next door.

But I guess to be "good Christians" we should just look the other way and shut up...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
