Yes indeed. I spoke with an illegal guy who was doing some drilling work, and he had 4 DIFFERENT Colorado Drivers Licenses!!!

By posting this I thought maybe someone would come up with a good reason why ID is required at all to start a job, or for anything for that matter.

I realise it depends on the job. If you are applying for a job as a supervisor for a for a centre for "children at risk" or something, you would need a police record check. This might involve proving your identity so that they can make sure you are not giving a false name so as to avoid knowledge of a police record involving children coming out, but even then surely your social security number would suffice!

Obviously this has nothing to do with illegal immigration, as the posts above have stated that "illegals" would have ID anyway.

And it is the weirdest suggestion of all to claim that it is about "terrorism".

The only "reason" I can come up with is that it is to provide some justification for parasitic bureaucrats. However, lack of privacy and absolute inconvenience is a high price for the average person to pay so somebody can exercise power over you.

I have never provided ID for a job and I never will. Some jobs I have applied for have "tried it on". But when I couldn't talk them into using common sense, I just said I was no longer interested and went somewhere else. I applied for a job once as a nighttime cleaner - which was replacing a guy who was overseas for a few months - and because of the places I had to clean (mostly alone) and the keys I had to have for the places - a "security check" was required. I just told the employer that I didn't have any photo' ID but he managed to get a "security check" without it. I think often people don't even bother finding out the reasons for these things.

Anyway, maybe in America things are different. Could someone enlighten me.

I used to work as a "health visitor" to peoples' homes who had had surgery or were old or had had accidents, but then they brought in a lot of "compliances" not only for me, but for members of my family. So I dropped that whole thing, as I was not prepared to entertain that, not for me but certainly not for other people.
