I was watching tv Sunday nite I turned on the comedy channel. This show was called Silverman or Sarah something. What ever it was it was horrible. I never saw such disrespect for God. I only watched a sec. of it and was disgusted by it. Why would people think these shows are funny.

They are not the only ones. Plenty of Christians watch stuff like this and consider it harmless.

I think we shouldn't take it that seriously. Y'know? Like i dont really like to hear the "F" word all the time, so i choose to watch shows with minimal language or minimal use of it. But i dont think that the "F" bomb is harmful, its just abrasive. Same with Sarah Silverman. She's hilarious. I think when people do God jokes or Jesus jokes, its funny.

Why?

Because i dont think God cares. If he really, honestly cared he'd probably do something about it.

Shalom Thoughtful,

May I ask in all sincerity, are you serious about this?

Shalom Thoughtful,

I am 110% serious about this. God made us in his image. This does not mean only in the physical sense. I'm sure God has a sense of humor, an ability to shrug stuff off, an ability to laugh, to feel anger, to be indifferent.

God gave us free will, which means he promised, in giving us free will, to allow us to do certain things. If he were just a fraction as offended as some Christians are by the mockery on TV, he would probably do something to stop us. But he wont. Im sure God could laugh at things like Bruce Almighty, or feel indifferent to things like Sarah Silverman.

But he probably doesnt. Why? Because he doesnt care. God is not watching every person on this earth for the sole purpose of seeing whether they're "bad or good". He's not marking down that Sarah Silverman made some awful joke about him. And he's not counting the people who laughed.

He

Dosent

Care.

And why should he? He's God. Do you think that he puts in as much concern for televised entertainment as he does for third world issues? No. If some Christians get offended, then they shouldn't watch it. If some don't, then the one's who are offended shouldn't judge them for it.

Alas, some Christians wouldn't be able to go on breathing if they couldnt judge SOMEONE for SOMETHING, whatever those two may be.

Shalom Thoughtful,

I am sorry, but these statements are not Scriptural. Please prove that G-d doesn't CARE about what is said about Him.

I believe the Scriptures indicate that G-d hears every word, thought and cares very much what we think about and say about Him. He is HOLY. He isn't a joke. Even His Name is Holy! How dare we, or anyone, treat the Almighty as a joke and think it's OK?

Exodus 20

You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

1 Peter 1

4 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."

I think that comedies that mock the name of the Lord are a disgrace.....Also, we Christians should complain about these sort of shows, and even the commercials have gotton worse over the last seven years! It's horrible, just the other week, I saw a commercial on public telivision (well, I was watching the Godfather Part III :emot-hug: ), and it showed a woman stripping her clothes off one by one, until her hands covered her private parts......Another disgraceful commercial I saw was homosexual and lesbian, it showed a man embracing a man, and a woman embracing another woman. Society these days....

I feel sadness for all the souls who view this content on telivision and internet. Not that we should get rid of TV or Internet, but we Christians should complain about objectionable content frequently.

Ah Vickilynn, we have arrived here once more.

Shalom Thoughtful,

Yes, I guess so. My beliefs concerning Scriptures are consistent.

You are misinterpreting those scriptures and pulling them from their origional context. While the verse from 1 Peter is good to live by, it had nothing to do with joking about God in TV Shows.

Oh really? Sorry, I disagree. ALL scripture is applicable to our daily lives, in EVERY way. It even says so of itself:

2 Timothy 3:

6 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be competent, equipped(G) for every good work.

Second, taking the Lords name in vain does not mean DONT JOKE ABOUT HIM, but it means do not Say you are a Christian and then live as though you're not. Its a calling out of those living in paradox. Not TV Shows.

That is a gross misinterpretation of these Scriptures. It ACTUALLY means do not use G-d's name in vain. It has nothing to do with saying you're a Christian. Where did you get that from? :emot-hug:

God doesnt care.

You can't speak for G-d. PROVE that He doesn't care by His Word. That's how He speaks to us - by His Word.

I proved that He DOES care, by His Word. Show me more than your opinion.

If he cares, let him change it.

Matthew 4

7Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Again, you are not qualified to speak for G-d or to challenge Him to do anything. Dude, HE IS G-D! Can you understand that?

But dont judge those who do laugh.

No one is judging you. Again, where did you get that from?

What I'm saying is that Scripturally, we Christians should NOT perpetuate mocking our Holy and perfect G-d! he is not to be a joke! Any Christian should know this.

Galatians 6:6

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
