This is something I have dealt with for a while now. Probably for over a year or two. (Keep in mind I'm 14.)

Ever since about the 6th grade, I have had a hard time thinking of girls respectfully and would look at dirty magazines, etc. It's been a struggle for a while but it's something I have really improved on as my journey with Christ continues. But I still have a problem with it. It's not porn..never really was. More just the little sports illustrated stuff. I've looked at porn once or twice though. But it's more of a thing like, I'll see a girl at the mall it's really hard not to think of her in a bad way or be like, woah, SHES HOT! I always have to look away or get my mind on something different. It's something that still bugs me today and I'm tired of it affecting my life. I would like to be able to see a somewhat attractive girl at the mall and not think a thing of her but that's still hard for me.

Do you guys have any ideas or ways I can fix this problem..I pray about it a lot but I want ideas on something I can do.

Thank you and God Bless,

Kris

"Resist the devil and "He Will" flee from you."

"Neither give place to the devil"

Let me paraphrase for you "STOP IT"

When we say no to the devil we are resisting him not giving him the time of day and he will go away from you.

When we say yes to the devil then he can move into our lives and as we give him place we give him ample room to work his deception and bring temptations in our lives all because of not resiting and giving the devil a place to work in our lives

Shalom OC -

We commonly give our adversary way too much credit. What JF1J17 is talking about is not Satan. It is that very same war that Paul writes about - the war of our flesh against our spirit. To blame it on the devil and say all we have to do is flee from it trivializes the situation and prevents us from understanding the Biblical approach to victory.

Paul told us clearly that this battle never goes away. Not until the corruptable flesh that we live in dies and is reborn an incorruptable being. In the mean time, his advise to avoid the lusts of the flesh is to walk in the Spirit. Truly, this is the only time that we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

-- shlomo

First off I am not giving the devil any credit. It's not like I said the devil made him do anything. I was just saying that the devil does come and tempt us and we are told that if we resist the temptations the devil will flee. You are saying the solution for everyone is to walk in the spirit while we should certainly walk in the spirit "YOU" never told us in any practical way "HOW" to do this. I would suggest that resisting the devil and temptation "that is walking in the spirit" BUT "giving in to sinful lust is walking in the flesh".

Caps are only for emphasis.

OC --From what Bible or translation are you quoting? I find no scripture at all that states the "devil comes to tempt us" and that "if we resist temptation the devil will flee from us." Contrary to that, I do find:

Something for you to read James 1:2-4 it show how we can and will fall into divers temptations as our faith will be tested. Well it is Satan that brings different temptations in our lives as he works on the lust of our flesh or body in order to take us captive getting us caught up in fulfilling the lust of the flesh thus being lead astray.

It is not God who tempts us but it is Satan who comes to us tempting and playing upon the lust of our flesh and he wants your faith out of God and into something else as long as it is not in God.

James 4:7--"Submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you"

To resist the devil is to submit yourself to God (as you can't serve two masters) it is the devil who comes playing on the lust of our flesh in order to draw us away that being the case knowing the devil is bringing the temptation to us in different ways we have an option as we can give into the temptations or submit ourselves to God. To resist the devil is to yield yourself to God walking in the Spirit and in resisting the temptation we are submitting to God. We got to resist the devil but we got to know why we have to resist him as there is a purpose.

Becuase the Devil is "not" the source of the temptation:
:th_praying:

hmmmm, interesting comment you've made. Who, then was it that came to Eve in the garden of Eden???

James 1:14 - Every man is tempted when is he drawn away by his own lust and enticed. So I stand by my original counsel. And contrary to your accusation, it *is* counsel

Just curious about the accusation you said I've made toward you as I have read through and can't find any could you explain or show me the accusation.

And as your response demonstrates, the Church is often powerless to overcome temptation becuase - DESPITE ALL THAT PAUL WROTE ABOUT IT - we still don't understand the source. We blame the Devil and focus on him instead of focusing on the real issue -walking in the Spirit. Peace -- shlomo

I still haven't seen any solutions in what you have said thus far how to get away from temptation in other words a "How To".

Ephesians 4:27--"Neither give place to the devil"

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
