There's this:

Gen 10:25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg;
for in his days was the earth divided
; and his brother's name was Joktan.

And that is supposed to mean, what?

That Peleg was named for a notable occurrence about the time of his birth - that the earth divided.

Does it mean the break-up of the super continent? That's my belief.

And when do you think that was?

Genesis chapter 10, where Peleg is mentioned, gives a list of the family trees of Noah's sons after the Flood. The following chapter, Genesis 11, gives a more detailed account, with years:

Gen 11:10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:

11 And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

12 And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:

13 And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

14 And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:

15 And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

16 And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:

17 And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.

18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:

19 And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.

20 And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:

21 And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.

22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:

23 And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

24 And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:

25 And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

26 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

So we have the Flood + 2 years + 35 years + 30 years + 34 years to Peleg's birth or 101 years after the Flood.

Sometime in there.

The context of the passage in question does not support your interpretation.

Gen 10:25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one [was] Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name [was] Joktan.

Gen 10:32

For those f you who think the earth is only 6000 years old..do you also deny tectonic plate theory?

We have rock hard(pardon the pun) evidence that all of the continents used to be one super continent

we also know the average movement of the continents

now using this data it can be shown with great accuracy that the earth MUST V at least 4 billion+ years old in order for these continents to have moved at the average rate..and to have once been one super continent

The Bible never insist that the planet is only 6,000 years old.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2 NKJV

read it for what it says...it clearly shows that the earth existed

And not that it matters, but I have 145 I.Q. and 99th percentile on asvab. So much for whatever you might think about my intelligence.

The asvab? :rolleyes::20::(

How about the MCAT or GRE?

Ah, Fox news and USA today. What substantial peer reviewed scientific journals.

Your original statment indicated that the island of Sumatra moved 90' in a matter of seconds, still claim that? If so, did it move up or down or laterally north or south?

And an A at LSU in a science course. Wow, but please explain was that like a course that the football team took to satisfy a requirement. You know, like a "Physics for Poets" class?

Sorry to sound so snotty, but you really have no idea what you are talking about. Well, unless of course I am wrong and the entire island of Sumatra did move 90' in seconds in that quake, its just that I'll need something of more substance than Fox or USA Today to buy that. So why dont you take the time to support your claim with some real science. Thanks ever so much!!!

Posting for Conundrum....I remembered this too.

Additional evidence for Pangea is the fossil record, which shows fossils for a specific species on a continent on which, there is, historically no record of that species exists on that contionent, or the climate doesn't support that species.

example (I have no idea if it's true, but it illustrates my point): Wooly Mammoth fossils are found in Central Africa: we have no records of the Wooly Mammoth in Africa, and the climate clearly doesn't support one.

As I recall, this evidence applies more to plants than animals, but the wooly mammoth one gets the point across.

Furthermore, an argument against the accuracy of the evidence for an old earth IS NOT an argument for a young earth. Each side needs to come up with its own evidence instead of simply attacking the other side.

Would be nice if AiG and other creationist sites paid attention to this comment.

It would be even nicer if the nonbelievers who post on Worthy, most of you, would refrain from snarky sarcasm and defamation of the Christian faith. Just a suggestion........... Several of you act as though it's your life's mission to 'prove' there is no God, nor a Creation. Sad; if that's your goal you will meet the Lord you don't believe in before you come close to succeeding.

Please don't make generalizations like that. It doesn't do anyone any service.

Does wonders for me........

Since that comment followed a post from me----it is not my life's mission to "prove" there is no God. But Christian's who use AiG or similar sites as a basis for their science do themselves no good service. AiG is not science, it tends to misrepresent and is often simple fraudulent. AiG and its ilk do spend a great deal of effort attacking real science, especially evolution, but do little or nothing to provide evidence to support their side. The reason for that is pretty basic. There is no science on AiG's side. AiG is admittedly a theological construct, not scientific.

So why the endless challenge to the Christian status quo? Why do you get all sideways about what we believe? You should just go about your nonbeliever's business and enjoy your life because you're never going to make a dent in true believers. If you didn't want to challenge the existence of God...you wouldn't be here. :whistling:

To be fair, I haven't seen Jukia challenge the existence of God explicitly (he may have done so, but I haven't seen it) or try to convince anyone that God does not exist. All I have seen Jukia doing is challenging Young Earth Creationism.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
