Since ~~angelique~~ is the OP, it is good Board Etiquette to abide by her wishes, not to hijack her thread and tell her to go look up with your talking about!

I thought I was doing her a favor by explaining to her what heresyhunter meant by "universalism". I didn't think I was highjacking her thread and I certainly didn't think I was being rude.

Didn't say you were being rude, just saying if the OP ask something we should "try" to abide by their wishes. Hey, have to be told myself upon occasion! No harm no foul!

What is an OP?

Here is where I am at with this:

  1. is sheol the same a pergatory?
  2. If Jesus let people out of hell when he died, then how can hell be permanent?
  3. Is there a place between heaven and hell that people can be caught in?
  4. Where exactly did Jesus talk about the lake of fire?

I am sure I have more questions but these are some I still have.

I can understand when infidels doubt the reality of eternal hell, but when so-called "christians" express their doubts, I cannot help but to be worried. What is happening to the church today?

If you were speaking about me, I am a new christian and just realized there is a hell and devil so I don't think expressing questions is wrong. How else is one to learn if they don't ask questions?

Grace to you,

LadyofLight,

I understand that the Church hurt you, it's because the Church herself is hurting. However, amongst and in the Church is Christ. :emot-heartbeat:

As far as the Truth;

Here's how I received it. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. I was deaf and then the Lords Word came and restored my hearing. Thus I found Faith and it was not even my own.

Here is what I heard;

1. I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:

2. And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:

3. Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary:

4. Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried: He descended into hell:

5. The third day he rose again from the dead:

6. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:

7. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead:

8. I believe in the Holy Ghost:

9. I believe in the holy catholic (universal body of Christ) church: the communion of saints:

10. The forgiveness of sins:

1l. The resurrection of the body:

12. And the life everlasting. Amen.

I heard that if I confessed with my tongue and believed with my heart that Jesus Christ was Lord. That my sins would be forgiven me and that I would be Saved. I heard that Jesus Christ was God and that I was a man born in sin and in need of repentance and a Salvation that I could never provide. Thank the Lord! He sent His only begotten Son to die for my sins. This Son came in the flesh and was fully man and fully God. He preached a Gospel of repentance of ones sins and of the acceptance of Gods Grace and the coming of God's Kingdom which was even at hand in His presence. He was persecuted, tried, beaten, and killed by crucifixion. He died and was buried and by the power of the Holy Spirit He rose again in fulifllment of the Scriptures and even His own Word. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hnad of His Father. He will come again in Judgement to Judge the living and the dead and that those who have taken Him at Hids Word and by the Faith wrought from hearing His Word would indeed escape His Wrath and Judgement. They are and will be children of God forever and enter into the rest of God and heaven.

This very Son of God was indeed God in the flesh, One in being. All things that were made were made by Him and not one thing made was made without or through Him.

Anything opposed to that is a lie. :emot-heartbeat:

In time dear one, in time you will Trust again. God Loves you. :th_praying:

I would propose that you speak to those headaches and tell them that they have no place in your life, then plead the precious Blood of the Lamb over your life asking Jesus to take control of them and to cast them off never to return. First repent of all the works of darkness in which you may have participated in the past and ask Jesus to forgive you for them, seeking His way only.

Peace,

Dave

:emot-heartbeat::emot-heartbeat: tks Dave :) I hope time will help.......

Hey, ~angelique~

Don't feel bad about feeling confused. I thought I understood it all until someone pointed out how our understanding of Hell was a series of mistranslations and traditions, plus famous works like Dante's Inferno.

So, this is the best I can make sense our of what is spoken in Scripture:

1. Purgatory isn't in the Scriptures. So, that answer would be "no."

2. Good question . . . I too have wondered about the mechanics of it. I have some ideas, but I wouldn't claim any of them authoritative. And sometimes I wonder if we get so caught up with the mechanics that we lose sight of the fact that we just need to do the work of the Lord and let Him sort out the afterlife. All we are given is our need to repent and and receive Him as Lord and Savior. If there is grace for those who never heard the Gospel (like is mentioned in Romans 1), and if there is a grace given for someone who dies apart from the Lord (which I have not been able to find in Scripture), then I trust He knows what He is doing.

Don't get me wrong - I'm a very curious person, and I love to know and understand everything, but yet I have come to learn to accept that life contains mysteries, and this is how I have learned to live with some of those mysteries. I do not mean to discourage trying to seek answers to the mysteries. Only don't let yourself get too lost in these mysteries, and be careful about the things you hear, for there are a lot of deceptive philosophies out there.

The biggest danger I see with this search is allowing into your mind the trick that you don't have to preach the Gospel (thinking:they can get saved eventually, even if they have to go through Hell first) or you don't have to repent of your own sin (thinking: I'll get to Heaven eventually) or other such things.

3. There is no Scriptural indication that there is any other place. You die and go to be with the Lord, or you die and are sent away from the Lord's presence to "Sheol". "Repent or perish" is a common theme throughout the Scriptures; there is no in between.

4. The "lake of fire" as a term is mentioned in Revelation. It is where the "AntiChrist" and the "False Prophet" are cast in to at the end of "The Great Tribulation" (Rev. 19), as well as the devil and his angels at the end of the "Millennium" (Rev. 20), as well as those whose names are not written in the Book of Life (Rev. 20).

Hope that helps!

Uh, maybe you didn't carefully read what you wrote, because what you said above is nothign short of preaching the damnable heresy of Universalism. I would hope that a board like this would not permit such blasphemy to be preached.

I know what I wrote, and nothing in it bears the slightest semblance to Universalism. I am an experienced opponent of the universalist doctrine, as a matter of fact.

Does anyone else here think I was preaching universalism?

I don't know what univeralism is. All of this theology is really going over my baby christian mind  Can we all remember kis (keep it simple) for me?? please.

Don,t feel bad Angelique. I am an older Christain who has studied scripture hard for many years and I don't have any idea what Universalism is iether. Probably because it is not scriptural. And if it's not scriptural I am not concerned about it.

Massorite, I wouldn't even waste my time looking into the issue. Our time here on Earth is precious and should not be wasted entertainign Satanic lies.

Are you suggesting that the existence of a condition described as Universalism is a satanic lie?

Or, are you suggesting that the effects of this condition are a satanic lie?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
