Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Ephesians 4:26KJV

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:18-21KJV

At what instant act or at what mental event does anger become sin?

Creflo Dollar has an excellent program on the Four Biblical aspects of Anger. I wrote it on my Bible but one of the things that needs to be known is that anything that comes from anger from a man is not counted righteousness...

James 1:20

for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

The program is really good and very thorough on that passage you quoted above, take a look at it!

I think anger becomes sin, when it becomes the "motiviation" for how you act/what you do/how you respond....rather than the "righteousness of Christ" being the motivation.

Some of the definitions from Strongs, for anger:

anger, the natural disposition, temper, character

movement or agitation of the soul, impulse, desire, any violent emotion, but esp. anger

anger, wrath, indignation

anger exhibited in punishment, hence used for punishment itself

of punishments inflicted by magistrates

This one was interesting, as a root word meaning, as a "desire".

to stretch one's self out in order to touch or to grasp something, to reach after or desire something

to give one's self up to the love of money

When anger becomes as a desire, it is sin:

I am reminded of James 4

1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight.

In His Love,

Suzanne

Yeah also anger when it is not controlled causes you to sin because you might say something rash and evil or to use the anger to destroy someone. While the righteous anger says, "I'm so Angry about this it is so unacceptable, I'm going to... Love you!"

It also reminds me of the verse in the Bible were it says:

"My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction. For whom the Lord loves He corrects,.."

Truly when a father is angry out of love he will correct his son or daughter and bring them back to righteousness so there is a correct and an abusive Anger which the Bible talks about. Anger will motivate us but we need to be careful to lead it like a massive ship with a small rudder into the right direction during a storm.

Let me tell you one story..

I remember one time during my trip last month when I was so angry with a person because of all the evil said to me when I did nothing but good to them, that I couldn't bear it anymore the pain was too much and I wanted to avenge myself. This was the first time I was angry to that point and it scared me that i just locked myself in my room and prayed intensely for God to take away the anger. I told him how I was so angry at the demon who was causing me this grief. And then I prayed for the salvation for the friend and God smiled on me and I saw a bright light shine in front of me that I got startled and turned around to see where it was coming from because it looked like a car was in my room and going to run me over! But from this I knew God was happy that I didn't avenge myself for all the heart ache and unjust things done to me, I was reminded of Numbers 6:22-25. Its such a wonderful thing and a blessing to see when you apply God's commands and the things that follow afterwards, I can't describe to you the sense of happiness and joy I felt immediately after that prayer!

my opinion:

Anger becomes a sin when you can't manage your anger anymore. Anything or anyone else which take over the control of you, except for Christ, is in my eyes not right. God had to work in my life for years concerning my bad temper. I got out of control when I got anry, but thank God, He freed me from that. It really took years, but today I can get angry, without loosing my temper.

One example of being angry and not sinning is found in Matthew 21:12-13.

Jesus Cleanses the Temple

12 Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them,

i had a conversation similar to this last week. it seems contradictory doesn't it. on the one hand, be angry. on the other, sin not. i believe anger is only right when it has nothing to do with our own self-interest.

At what instant act or at what mental event does anger become sin?

I believe that thoughts are things and that sin begins when my thoughts become harmful to myself or another person or both. Jesus said even to look at a person with lust in our heart is a sin. The moment my mind begins to imagine screaming at someone, calling them a name, devising a way to get even with a person or whatever, even if it has not come out of my mouth or been acted out with my body, I am IN the sin.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
