I believe that there are 5 basic beliefs that a fundalmentalist must aspire to:

1. Belief in Jesus' atoning death

2. Belief in the imminent return of Jesus Christ

3. Belief in the virgin birth

4. Belief in the resurrection

5. Belief in the errancy of the word of God

Fundamentalism is one of those concepts, it depends on who you ask. Often the person labeling themselves fundamentalist, have one definition, while those outside of its ranks have another definiton. I know one pastor upset with the methods of some self-proclaimed fundamentalist called them FUN... DAM... MENTALIST I myself would have to say I embrace the philosophy in theory but not in the practice I see. It suppose to be the emphasis of the essentials of saving faith, but it often digresses to judgmental attitudes pointed outside those of your particular sect. I see alot of ignorant forced outward conformity with no real genuine holiness and compassion. I like the way Pastor Johnny Hunt from Woodstock Baptist Church near Atlanta says about himself when asked to reveal his label, "I'm a liberal fundamentalist...fundamental about what I believe and liberal who I talk to about it." Amen, that the way I feel about it 2.
