Just remember this Blien

Isa 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you;

Be not dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you,

Yes, I will help you,

I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

all cares and concerns about everything, belong to the Lord and He will uphold you in every way.

Amen Jackie. Well said.

that's a good thing Richard, most women aren't real happy about sharing

Nor do I blame them. This is one of the issues the man I am working with has. I let him know today that he is truly fortunate to have a wife who loves him so he should perhaps seriously consider his actions.

Allow me to point something out to you, which was told to me as I sought an answer to the very same question.

You are looking to invest in something to expand your wealth. You agree to go into business with someone as a silent partner. After awhile, you start to receive a great return on your investment, but find out that they had deceived you and your money you have made came from an illegal practice of some sort. To make things right, you bring the money back, all except what you had first invested, and try to back out. They refused and told you that if you report them, you will also go down with them. You go home to pray and open the Bible for an answer. You set you eyes on Matthew 27:5. Would you follow through?

The Bible is not the Wheel of Fortune or the 8 Ball.

I don't think that anyone here is giving the go ahead to use the bible as the wheel of fortune or an 8-ball...but you know, I have gleened a lot myself from the very thing that our brother Blien is asking about and never have I been admonished by the Lord for doing it. Now it is not an everyday practice as I am not attempting for divination from the Word of God. And I truly don't believe that the topic needs to become a personal issue or stumbling block for our young brother in the Lord. As he learns the word more and more it will be easier for him to locate his answers. IMHO

Until then.....as the Lord leads you Blien. And you may always PM or email me with questions about things, if I don't have a ready answer I will find it for you....

Our Brother Blien knows that I have never told him anything that would hurt him, nor have I ever put a stumbling block in his way. The point that I am making is that we can not use the Bible as a crap shoot answer to prayer. The Holy Spirit will guide him as he studies, and the Spirit may bring him to scripture where the answer lie, but to pray and open the bible and read where you eyes first set is like a crap shoot. It's like taking scripture out of context. Learn the whole word, as the Spirit teaches you, and you will mature.

jackie d, did you look up the scripture that I gave as an example? Was the titles I gave as an example to this sort of answering tactic the reason you got upset, or was it the fact that you also practice it and I offended you?

yes I did and personally I think that was a silly example as most of us have brains enough to figure out God is not telling us to go hang ourselves.

to begin with you did not upset me nor did you offend me, nor do I see that the verse you gave as something that should cause me to change my opinion of how I answered you or Blien.

It seems you have taken what I said as a personal afront and thought that I attacked when I have not. Point is that God will give His answers and those who do not know where to find the answers to deep and personal questions we have for God need to find them some how. If there is no one who we can trust or who can direct us to verse, then we dig in how we can.

Please don't make assumptions like "Was the titles I gave as an example to this sort of answering tactic the reason you got upset, or was it the fact that you also practice it and I offended you?" you have here about me again, thank you very much.

Learn the whole word, as the Spirit teaches you, and you will mature.

you make a good point here and one that even the most learned Christian needs to remember about others AND themselves. The operative phrase is "as the Spirit teaches you" for as it is written man will no longer teach man. So let us allow the Spirit to teach us and stop assuming that what works for one, works for the other........as the Lord will have HIS way with each of us, not your way or my way, HIS way.

Dear Blien,

I think it is important that you take God's Word as a whole, rather than just snippets. That can be dangerous.

Blien, I also do this occasionally, I find it to be ok, after all it IS God's Word. Its good advice to take the verse or chapter into context and not be dissapointed if you dont get the advice/answer you were subconsiously wanting.

I sometimes pray to what God would like me to read at recreational Bible reading time and allow Him to lead me by "flipping".

On the other hand, if you are questioning it, maybe you are being convicted about this. Pray about it. :whistling::noidea:

First, jackie d, I asked you questions. I did not make assumptions. If they were assumptions, then I would of not ask a question. My questions were base on the choice of words you used in the post where you quoted me. I was led to think that you were upset by your own statement ". And I truly don't believe that the topic needs to become a personal issue or stumbling block for our young brother in the Lord." This led me to believe that you saw my statements as both a personal issue and a stumbling block for our brother. If anything, indicating that I would personally attack Blien or put a stumbling block in front of him can be seen as an attack on my post. I was only sharing with Blien what I had been told, which made since to me.

In His Love,

Alan

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
