Great - our young people have a rep for not being able to identify the United States on a map, knowing everything about actors and singers/bands, but knowing nothing about history before their kindergarten years . . .

And they are the voice of the campaign.

Scary.

Okay in defense of my generation first of all - this has been a BANNER year for people not only coming to the polls, but being incredibly well informed about the issues. Campaign officials on all sides of the race have remarked about their surprise and interest in the fact that young people, especially, are asking incredibly sophisticated questions about policy, current events, and the political positions of the candidates from whom they are choosing. So don't knock young people.

Second of all, before you accuse Obama of being full of "hot air," read his biography. Sure, I'm realistic about why politicians get into politics - but he hasn't been in the game that long, and there is something inexplicably genuine about the way he speaks to and with people.

I'm going to see him on Monday. =)

Of course, I have made my preferences known...if you can't buy what I'm saying, well, then at least admit that he's not any more "full of hot air" than anybody else major in politics.

I am so very sorry if I've offended anyone with my remark about political "hot air". At no time was I in reference to any one politician. The great majority of politicians are guilty of this. Have a very nice day.

Aw it cut me off - I wanted to point out that since we expel CO2, technically political hot air contributes to global warming. But I guess harnessing it for power wouldn't be such a bad thing, if we're already polluting the atmosphere with all those stump speeches....

For the record, I'm in the "under 40" crowd.

And I don't knock the potential of young people. However, I do feel very sceptical about the direction "the MTV generation" is going. (I'm a part of that MTV generation - so I am criticising from the inside.)

What I read in the article is that Obama can hold a great pep rally. What I don't see is his ability to actually lead the government, lead the nation, command the troops, maintain American sovereignty, and a whole lot else in that regards.

Second of all, before you accuse Obama of being full of "hot air," read his biography.

Hey - that wasn't me!

And that lack of experience scares the weebeegeebies out of me.

Excuse me, Mr. Pilot, but I would rather you have flown solo and landed that plane a few times solo and without the guidance of an instructore a few times before I'll ride in that plane with you - thank-you very much!

i went back to this thread and found a very interesting reply, from a young lady.

This is copied from another forum. "Facts about Obama"

OBAMA'S SHAMEFUL STANCE ON ILLEGAL ALIENS AND PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION

Submitted by bunnytoes on Fri, 2008-01-18 21:53.

After I received that email that has been circulating about Obama being a Muslim (the one that caused the Obama camp to get in such a stir- that they couldn't track down), I decided to do some research to see how much truth there was to it. I found many sites with pertinent information containing links to back it up.

One of the best was "Freedom's Enemies, Barack Hussein Obama" by Beckwith." http://www.freedomsenemies.com/_more/obama.htm, another good one was "The Veteran's Dispatch http://www.usvetdsp.com/

A completely objective one was; http://www.examiner.com/a-534540~Can_a_pas...for_Obama_.html

One of the most amazing things I found was that most of the telling information comes from his own books. It's all there- the admiration for Islam and the disdain for the white race- but nobody has/will call him on it.

The remarks from his books are very, very disturbing. Not content to take the article at its word, I checked out Obama's books from the library and read them. The remarks are there- and they are NOT taken out of context.

Example:

Quote from Barack Obama's book, Dreams Of My Father:

"The person who made me proudest of all, though, was [half brother] Roy .. He converted to Islam."

From 'Dreams of my Father', "In Indonesia, I had spent two years at a Muslim school"

"I studied the Koran.."

From 'Audacity of Hope: "Lolo (Obama's step father) followed a brand of Islam ...."I looked to Lolo for guidance".

From 'The Audacity Of Hope, "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

From The Audacity Of Hope, "We are no longer just a Christian nation," "We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers."

From Dreams of My Father, " I FOUND A SOLACE IN NURSING A PERVASIVE SENSE OF GRIEVANCE AND ANIMOSITY AGAINST MY MOTHER'S RACE".

From 'Dreams of my Father', "The emotion between the races could never be pure..... the other race would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart."

From 'Dreams of My Father',

"I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites"

From Dreams Of My Father, "never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself..".

From Dreams Of My Father:

That hate hadn't gone away, he wrote, blaming white people some cruel, some ignorant, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives.

From Dreams Of My Father;

"There were enough of us on campus to constitute a tribe, and when it came to hanging out many of us chose to function like a tribe, staying close together, traveling in packs," he wrote. "It remained necessary to prove which side you were on,to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names"

From Dreams Of My Father, "I had grown accustomed, everywhere, to suspicions between the races."

I went to YouTube to look up his speeches to La Raza (Mexican militant support group for illegal aliens) and heard for myself his pandering of the illegals.

I'm young, and I can smell a con a mile away.

I am somewhere between young and old, 42, and I can see through him as well. It is all talk and no substance.

42? Umm...that might be old. :o

It's turning the corner, half way to 84. :(

Well, as long as you feel young, right? Isn't Obama in his mid 40's, and he's considered young. :39:

Well then, I'm young too because Obama is 47...which is a few years older than I!

Sorry about that! I was thinking of another post I'd just responded to and that made it in there. :(

Except that experience has NEVER been an accurate predictor of presidential (even general political) success. Some of our worst presidents have been our most "experienced."

For the record, I can think of at least one person who spent most of his political career in the Illinois state legislature, worked as a lawyer, and served a only couple of terms in Congress before running for the presidency - Abraham Lincoln.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
