As His time draws near, we will see the cost of more getting out of hand, to the point that we will not be able to purchase them. Vickilynn is on the right track, remembering how to get by using means that have been forgotten by this generation, all because of being able to go into a store and have it already done for us. I wonder how many more lost skills we will find necessary in the near future?

On the network news last night, they interviewed a bakery owner and gave the stats that a bag of flour which previously cost $15 now costs $40.

But, they said the added price to a loaf of bread was only .20 per loaf, not $2.

I grind our wheat at home and bake all our family bread products (bagels, rolls, cookies etc.) and the price of wheat has definitely jumped in the past couple of months.

I'll be making our own pasta again because they said the price of pasta is rising as well.

This domestically challenged woman can only bow in homage to you, oh Queen! I can barely toast bread; if I HAD to grind wheat and bake it, if that's the only way I could eat, well, it's a safe bet I would starve to death and someone would eventually find me with a Pizza Hut phone menu clutched in one hand and my cell phone in the other.

lol, it looks like some ones math is off, when the main ingredient almost triples in price, how is it the final product does not? I believe some one is not giving us all the information.

nope, don't, cause if you double the price of the raw ingred, the final product would also be doubled in the cost of making it....

if a 5 # bag makes 20 loaves at a cost of $2 for 5 #

and you double the price to $4 for a 5# bag, you still get 20 loaves, but it now cost $4 for the raw material.... thus doubling the cost...... not just 10%, but 100% more....

like i said, don't see how they are doing their math.... as far as the other raw ingreds..... there is not much of them in bread.....lard/shortening, baking soda or powder, water, flour..... oh yea, lots of preservatives....
