Willing to Die? To lay down our lives?

I got this in email today and it seems so appropriate for recent discussions on what we will lay down for G-d.

What about my life? Am I willing to lay down EVERYTHING even up to my life? A good question to ask today:

If you are not willing to die for what is in the Bible, you should not give money for Bibles. Because if you give, we will smuggle more Bibles. And if we smuggle more Bibles, there will be more martyrs.

You raise a REALLY good point.

We may not KNOW for sure until we are actually faced with the situation. We (like Eric and you) HOPE and PRAY we would be willing, but until we are walking it, we won't know.

Look at Peter, he made some bold professions of what he would do for Jesus, but when it came down to it, he folded.

However, did Jesus turn away from him? NO! Jesus forgave him and restored him and filled him with the Holy Spirit.

The same goes for us. G-d knows our humanity. We pray that He would empower us and enable us to die for the Gospel if faced with that situation, that His Holy Spirit would work through us to do that, for I don't believe ANY of us could do it on our own, without the Holy Spirit. But, my point is, we need not fear. G-d will be with us and enable us to do what He calls us to do.

I think I see what he is getting at however we in the U.S. are, I hope, not buying Bibles "made in China", for personal use. I understand they produce Bibles there at great risk but one would hope that those Bibles are meant to go to Chinese, Korean, Taiwanese and Mongolian Christians and so on. If I gave money to VOTM for Bibles, I certainly would not be buying them for myself, but for those who can't afford to buy them for themselves like the Gideons do.

We could certainly learn a few things from those Christians that live under threat of death just for believing in Christ Jesus. Those Christians that live where there is religious freedon are truly blessed and should be doing all they can for those who live without it.

You know, I would die for my kids and my husband, no doubt. Without question. Even my family and my friends. Absolutly.

Would I die for the Bible....I don't honestly know. Even though it is the Word of God, it is still an object and putting my faith in that instead of God is not right. I believe that if God wants His Word to get to people, it will. With or without my death.

So there you have it, my honest answer.

He's not talking about dying for Bibles (as I read it), but rather for what is contained IN the Bible - our faith and our L-rd.
