IT is the burning question of the moment: who will have the courage to tell Hillary Clinton it is time to quit? Friends of the couple say the chances are that it will be her husband, and that he will tell her if she loses Texas or Ohio on Tuesday. He has already made it clear she cannot soldier on without a double victory.

If, however, she wins narrowly in both states but lags significantly behind in the number of delegates needed to clinch the nomination, then who will tell Bill Clinton to tell Hillary the game is up?

It could be Vernon Jordan, the African-American power broker who is so loyal to the Clintons that he arranged a job for the former intern Monica Lewinsky when she was no longer welcome at the White House.

The Clintons believe they could still fight on if Hillary wins the popular vote in Texas but ends up with fewer delegates under the state

I think it is wishful thinking on the part of the media, as well as the high ups in the Democratic Party, that Hillary would drop out. There is no reason for her to do so. Since most of the states split their delegates, there is a good chance that by staying in the race, she can deny Barak Hussein Obama the nomination going into the convention. If she is successful in that, it is possible she could get the nomination at a brokered convention.

This is likely the only chance Hillary will ever have of becoming President. I can see no reason why she should get out of the race, and I doubt that Bill will have the courage to tell her to do so, if he knows what is good for him.

Well, I don't know, Butero. Hillary is 61; she would still be way younger than John McCain is now if she ran again in 2012. Off topic, but pertinent, is Mike Huckabee; he's only 52 now so he's got plenty of time to run again. It would be interesting to see a Clinton/Huckabee face off. To me, anyway.

Her future ability to put a national campaign together will based on how she handles her exit and her party loyalty for a ticket she is not on. I personally hope she shows her true colors and becomes a poor loser.

i think bill has issues he needs to deal with as he did some stupid things when he was president and i feel he needs some face some hard facts if his wife wins and she becomes the first female president heck he is a man and he is going to need to be submissive to her if she gets ellected

I think it's naive to think that Bill has any say in whether or not she can do anything. If he is acting as an advisor it would still be her decission.

Either way, her ever becoming President depends on her ability to smear Barak Hussein Obama. Can she do it successfully? As I said in another thread, I know of nobody more uniquely qualified for the job of personal destruction than Hillary Clinton.

How about Rove and the rest of the Bush henchmen? They are masters of personal destruction; they have waged the nastiest campaigns in memory. Maybe Hillary should hire them.
