I was specifically told NOT TO go barefoot because of my plantar fasciitis (I think that's what it's called). This is why I have a pair of Z-Coils that are 3 years old that, if they tell me I can't wear them to work I'll quit.

I hate wearing shoes. But obviously have to wear them in town and outside and etc. And its true that shoes help protect against the impact of hard surfaces.

Unfortunately this person is going against at least 40 years of solid evidence contrary to his assertion. . . .

:th_praying: You a pediatrist or something?

Nope. I'm a pedorthist.

What a coincidence!

I sell Z-Coils!

They can't tell you not to work in them if you get a prescription :th_praying:

Well - that's "or something" isn't it?

That's cool, though. Shame you live way out west, I need to hook up with a pedorthist to help me find some dress shoes that work with my insoles

I used to run barefoot all day long when I was a kid but now I can't stand the thought of anything but sand under my feet. If I go outside barefoot and walk on grass, concrete, or dirt I immediately have to go wash my feet upon going back in the house because I can't stand the feeling of my feet being dirty not to mention it's hurts very badly when you stop on a rock, tree root, or other sharp object with no shoes on compared to no pain with shoes.

I think people look to deeply into the way things were back when Jesus walked the earth and that things should never change and always be as it was back then but if that was god's purpose he wouldn't have given man the gift of knowledge.

If you're talking about pumps then you need what's called a "coat hanger" orthotic. It's specially designed to fit into pumps. Otherwise you need a different orthotic that is designed slim, that will fit into the typical women's casual work shoe. Usually it's easier to modify an existing orthotic or have a second pair made that will fit into the shoes you normally wear than trying to find a shoe that fits the orthotic. There are just too many shoe choices out there.

Talk to Pam Haig over at the Robert M. Palmer Institute of Biomechanics: http://www.pedorthicbiomechanics.org/

This is where I got my training, and Pam really knows her stuff. She should be able to refer you to a good pedorthist in your area. Perhaps even someone that she's trained personally. Joe and Pam are a great couple - very knowledgeable and kind.

I went barefoot a lot as a kid. I can walk on gravel without it hurting me. Walked through the desert once for a few miles without shoes (not my choice, Im not that dumb). I didnt have any problems with spines or stickers.

It's rattlesnake country 'round here...

I'm keeping my boots on.

Yeah, and don't forget all those wonderful sticker plants! :th_praying::emot-hug::th_praying:

I still love walking barefoot. It's one of the things that I love about spring and summer. I love the feeling of grass under my feet but I'm just weird like that.

What are z coils  Never heard of such a thing.
