Is this a "clause" in Christ's contract? Does the unbelieving spouse get a free ticket to heaven on the basis of their believing spouse, who makes them holy/sanctified? And if so (or even if not), to bring it back to the thread discussion, what does that say about familial relations in heaven?

I see nothing in those 2 verses that makes any kind of reference to families in heaven.

The website referenced earlier in this thread really does not answer the question. Although I think that it's abundantly clear that we will "rejoin" those saints that have passed on, there is no indication from Scripture that we will have the same natural affections for them that we have here on earth.

I am new to all this, so please take no offense to the questions I ask.

Well mainly because it's God's purpose for us. Fellowship in the Body of Christ is for our growth in the divine life (Eph. 4:15-16; cf. Rom. 15:2). God's desire is for express Him in all of His divine attributes, in our human virtues. This is for His expression, His enlargement and eventually, to constitute us as His Bride.

When Christ died on the cross, He showed that love conquers all......even death.

There is nothing more powerful than love.

I hadn't realized how "young" you are as a believer. I would just encourage you to concentrate your being on Him, on reading His word, and staying in prayer. God will reveal Himself more to you the more you pursue Him and love Him to the uttermost. Just love Him.

We have the parable of the rich man and Lazarus -

Luk 16: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

Luk 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

Luk 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

Luk 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

The rich man recognized Lazarus. And, he remembered what happened on earth before death as well. Does this say that we will as well? I have no idea - but I think we will. That's just how I see it. I know that others disagree, but I feel like we will know our loved ones, and will love them with a more pure love then, than now.

Personally, I don't believe we will remember any of this life. We may recognize people, but I don't think they'll mean the same to us in heaven as they do here.

Well, that makes about as much sense to me as a broken piggy bank.

If this were true, then it truly puts a damper and deceptive spin on Paul's encouragement:

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

If your claim is true, then Paul ought to have said, "Don't worry - they aren't thinking of you, and you won't remember them in the afterlife either."

Now think about this......What if you were the only one in your family to make it into heaven? How sad would that be?

God tells us there will be no sadness.

I disagree with your conclusion here.

Do you not suppose the Lord grieves over those who are lost? Do you suppose He will forget them?

Is He not great enough to "wipe the tears from our eyes" even while we carry only a portion of the loss He feels?
