Yes, same basic gift, two manifestations.

according to you, not according to the Bible

According to Paul, and God's Word, as I have proven previously.

no, you have not, the Bible does not make a distinction, it speaks of the Gift of Tongues, peroid. Humans have made the distinction, not God

Paul absolutely makes the distinction, as I have proven perviously, and you have missed it.

He didn't , miss it he ignored it. There is a difference.

Paul still didn't call it tongues. He called it praying in the Spirit. It is not you who is praying it is the Holy Spirit within you. It happens with some and not with others. Fear is normally the reason. As is refusing to let go and let God. The Spirit will pray for things you never knew you needed. But He will not do it if you stop Him in any way. I don't even call it tongues. I call it the prayer of the Spirit. For tongues are something totally different used in prophesy. I have seen people who think they can turn tongues on and off at will. Then I know those who have absolutely no clue what is really happening when it happens. I grew up in the generation of them trying to get you speaking in "tongues" by saying "untie my bow tie" really fast.

Did I make him smile, for the record that was the intention

At the very least it makes me smile lol

He shook his head and said "and you yell when I do something like that" then he was off to bed (which scares me cause his bedtime isn't until 10:30 and it is barely 9). He was literally perplexed that I don't allow him to do things like that. (For the record he is currently grounded for the month)

When you are praying in the ''Spirit'' are you using english?

I am not using any languge, I am speaking nothing at all. It is the Spirit doing the praying, not me

Do you ever pray in a language you do not know?

no, never

I have, but I know it was not me doing it, nor can I have access to it whenever I want. I was in very bad crisis, and it happend. LOL trust me I do not have an on off switch for it.

there have been times when I have prayed in total silence in both mouth and mind. I did not know what to pray for so I let the Spirit do it for me as it says in Romams 8

There's nothing wrong with that. Silencing one's thoughts allows Him to speak to us.

healing should be an every day activity for Christians...

Amen! Miracles should be commonplace amongst believers.

two points...

if miracles were commonplace, they would not be miracles

if miracles were not commonplace in the Bible, why would they be commonplace now?

cause even Christ said that we would do what he had done, and things even greater......

have you ever done any research as to the miricles and healings that have taken place? even people brought back from the dead?????

God used one man (documented) to bring at least 20 people back from the dead..... this man was used by God for many healings (un numberable) he never kept track.... this man was not a man of third world countries or a backwards country, but lived in the USA.....

he was a simple man, worked full time from an early age, taking care of his family, and did not learn to read very well at all until later in life..... when he married, his wife read to him from the Bible, and he took the words from the Word and lived them.

he knew that all illness was a result of sin... that is all illness, desease.... I believe it as well..... there were only a few people he had contact with that healings did not take place, these he did not understand, for he believed that all should be healed....

common place?

two ment walking to church, pass a man that asks them for some spare change, they turn and look at him and tell him they do not have any spare change, but then offer him a new begining... that man, crippled gets up and walks.......

a man, dead, laying in the coffin, another man comes in, takes the body of the first man out and props it in the corner and commands it to walk..... the body slumps down to the floor, the second man props the body back up, and commands it to walk.... again the body slides down to the floor.... the third time, the man props the body back up in the corner, and commands it in Jesus Name, to walk........ and the body has life brought back into it...... and he walks......

common place??? absolutely....

a few weeks ago, i watched as an SUV pulls out in front of a Semi truck (gasoline tanker) and is broadsided right in front of my eyes, I was out of my vehicle before the SUV stopped spinning, but as the inpact took place, both myself and my wife called out to Jesus...... when I arrived at the SUV, the young lady was a bit daized but coming out of it, and had a slight cut on her forehead... the airbags DID NOT DEPLOY..... she was taken to the hospital, received a half dozen stitches and released... the SUV was totally destroyed, they had to use the jaws of live to get her out of it. the semi driver was totally uninjured...

both of them believers..... when I got to the SUV, I thought I recognized the young lady..... afterwards, I realized who she is... she is the daughter of the past Dean of a Bible College...... a family i had done quite a bit of work for, and she was also a class mate of my eldest son.....

miricle????? or just every day stuff????? what constitutes a miricle in your eyes??????

show me where it is said that tongues, interpretation, prophecy, discernment, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, Faith, Healings, and Miricles have been discontinued?????

it is even said that in the end, God will pour His Spirit upon one or two people??????? NO WAY....... ALL FLESH....... and the sons and daughters will sleep?????? NOOOOOOOOOOOo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... WHAT ABOUT VISIONS AND DREAMS??????? where does it say those will stop????? it does not say those will stop either..... YOUNG MEN AND OLD MEN WILL HAVE VISIONS AND DREAMS.........

come now..... when I am giving a lesson, I tell them straight up.... that they need to verify everything I am telling them... do not take my word for it, but verify it.......

as a skeptic, I verified what was going on.... and i found that I am still a skeptic, but I also judge what is being said, by way of the Word of God..... when a Word in tongues is given, and the Interpretation is given, THE FELLOWSHIPS WE ATTEND, JUDGE THE MESSAGE.......

I know that some sects believe that a person is not saved unless they speak in tongues.... others believe that when a person says a canned prayer, they are saved forever.... others believe you have to pay penance to clear their sins... others think that tongues is from the devil...... none of this is true...... READ THE WORD.......

Tongues is not required to be saved......

Revelation tells us that we can have our names blotted out of the book.....

salvation is not of works (or payment) bot of Grace and Grace only.....

Tongues IS NOT OF THE devil.....

there are many other things that can be found that contradicts denominational doctrine...... thats right, denominational doctrine alot of times is not biblical, or some of the teachings do not line up with the Word....

DO NOT TAKE THE PASTORS WORD FOR IT..... find out for your self.....

if a person were to read out loud, every day, for 5 minutes..... they can read the entire New Testiment with in one year.....

if a person were to read out loud, every day for about 10 minutes.... they can read the entire Old Testiment with in one year....

folks, that is only 15 minutes aday OUT LOUD.....

if a person were to read it for 30 minutes a day, that would complete the task with in 6 months, and if they read for 1 hour a day, would be able to do it in less then three months......

it only takes two work weeks to read the entire Bible... that is less then 80 hours to read the entire thing...... 80 hours......

it would be well worth while.....

The Word of God also tells us to STUDY AND SHOW THYSELF APROVED.......

As Paul constantly prayed in tongues by his own admission and told us to pray in the Spirit at all times, we do so many times in tingues. That is a sign of a believer. That we pray in an unknown language. The Spirit speaks to God for us. What a blessing.

1 Corinthians 14:14-16

4 For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don’t understand what I am saying.

15 Well then, what shall I do? I will pray in the spirit, and I will also pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand. 16 For if you praise God only in the spirit, how can those who don’t understand you praise God along with you? How can they join you in giving thanks when they don’t understand what you are saying?

Clearly here, Paul demonstrates that he prays and sings in tongues as well as prays and sings in his native tongue as well. That is the choice of the believer. It is wisdom that tells us to refrain from doing so in the presence of others or even unbelievers for they wouldn't be able to join in fully in praising our God. Good manners are important.

He says praying ONLY in the spirit (clearly, tongues) is not conducive to sharing with people.

Ephesians 6:18a

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,

Paul is not saying that tongues is a private prayer language. Paul is pointing out the futility of speaking in a language that is UNKNOWN to the hearers, and the speaker

.

The context of this passage has to do with edification, not with some secret language. you are taking this verse out of context with the rest of the chapter.

When Paul says this in vs 4 "He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church." this is not a commendation, it is a rebuke of the misuse of the gift.

actually Paul is speaking to the church about discipline during the service.... and not doing it in LOVE...... they were using these gifts (abusing them) to edify themselves and not God.... kind of like .....HEY LOOK AT ME, WHAT I AM DOING...... bringing the attention back to the person speaking, not giving the attention and Glory to the Lord..... they were not doing it out of love, but out of selfishness.....

where does it ever say that tongues was discontinued????? where does it say that it is no longer in use? where did God remove the Gifts of the Spirit?????? ANY OF THEM????? answer? IT DOES NOT.......

People call Ch 13 the love chapter, but really it is the church being admonished for the misuse of the Gifts..... it is not saying DO NOT USE THEM, it is saying, God is not a God of confussion, but God is an ORDERLY GOD.......

He even says, let a couple give the message in tongues, and then let them be interpreted, let a couple prophesy then continue on with the service.... do not spend the entire day going back and forth where the message is not heard..... He even states that if you are in a group and you know you are about to give a message in tongues, and you do not know of anyone there that can interperete the message, DONT GIVE IT........

if you choose, (your choice) not to use the Gifts of the Spirit, that is your choice.....

I know one man that said that he would never ....NEVER EVER....... speak in tongues or interperet or even speak a word of prophecy..... never would he said, nothing would ever get him to......... one day, during the service, totally unexpectedly, he was filled so full of the Spirit that he could not contain himself, and he spoke one of the most powerful messages of prophecy that i have ever heard...... when he was done, he almost looked embarrassed..... he never said never again......

Good word! :whistling:

I also was told a true story by a pastor that he himself was so wanting to speak in tongues that he went forward to receive it many times, and went before the leaders of the church many times--nothing. Finally, he made a decision to just fake it, so he began to speak out before the congregation in a ministry way, in "tongues", and just opened his mouth and spoke anything that came into his head.

Later, during the sermon, he was so overcome with guilt, that he went forward and interrupted the pastor and confessed his behaviour to the congregation. Then two women stood at the back of the sanctuary and one spoke up. She told him that it could not have been his fakery, for the woman she brought to church was from another country and she spoke the very language he had been uttering! She understood the gospel message through him and went forward for salvation that very morning!

So, when we simply open up our throats for God--He will fill it up with most holy words for the hearing of others. There was indeed an interpreter in that congregation. There was indeed a message to be spoken and the speaker had no idea he was speaking messages from the throne room!

Psalm 81:10

For it was I, the Lord your God,

who rescued you from the land of Egypt.

Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
