I think the key is to practice generosity out of a loving spirit. There are real monetary needs that must be met, both inside and outside of the Christian community and the local church...but needs don't stop there. Remember that much will be expected of those to whom much has been given...and I don't think that stops at monetary resources either. If you have loads of time but not a lot of money, giving your time and energy to help a sick person with their garden or housework (just for example) would be a very generous gift that God would certainly honour.

I do think that 10% of your monetary resources is probably a good place to start if you're looking for practical ways to practice giving, but it doesn't have to stop there, and it doesn't have to be that figure, either. What's important is giving cheerfully out of love. Everything else sorta just falls into place if you lovingly look for ways to be generous, and ask God to show you ways you can practice generosity, so numbers (and even which resource) become kinda unimportant if you focus on that.

This is slightly convoluted to me. Charity, and giving to the Lord, could actually be two separate questions. Further, the double question (title) is then framed in terms of money, with two other multiple choice questions with two options each. Then the post actually introduces a wider range of questions. This beyond Mensa.... Therefore, barring the 4 choices in the multiple, which even if answered are not substantive enough and contrast with the post questions, you leave yourself wide open.

So I'll answer using great liberty which you have wantingly or not wantingly, given me. Scripturally, we need to give the Lord what is due to him - "render on to Caesar what is Caesar

I love simplicity! Charity begins in the heart and goes where ever the Lord leads it to go.

Because Of HIM

We love him, because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19

And HIS Love

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:5

We Love

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:34-35

Praise HIS Holy Name

It's not so much what we give, rather than the Christ-like attitude in which it is given.

Yup.

It's not what you gave, it's the reason you gave it.

I voted NO on both.

To me giving means giving from the heart, whether money, time, food, lending a hand and probably a very important one... giving OUR TIME. The servant does what pleases the Master and if the Master requires the servant to give in any way or form that pleases the Master, then so be it. It's not so much what we give, rather than the Christ-like attitude in which it is given.

Blessings

Amen sister!!!

It can be money, volunteering your time.........very rarely did I ever have money to give, so I gave of my time. Not only in the church setting either. I have been known to shovel snow for neighbors, babysit for free, and many other things. God takes all of those things as my tithe. LOL then He takes them as an offering as well along with worship. I teach my children the same principal. For in all things you are to do them unto the Lord.

I agree!!We don't have much money either but I try to give the 10% of whatever we make at church. I don't do it grudgingly (God loves the happy giver) I do it as a show of faith & God has always provided for us.I do give my tithe at church because I thought in the new testament we are told to give at the storehouses which I understand to be the church in modern times. Fortunately I have a very giving church & a working church. I do give my time & try to do what God lays upon my heart to do. I know this subject had differing opinions but ultimately we do what God lays on our hearts to do. It all belongs to Him anyway we are just stewards of Gods property.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
