But is it not said in Genesis 19:24 "Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven" This was a direct retaliation to the people of Sodom and their wicked practices. For their blatant disregard for the word of the Lord they paid with their lives. For us to allow it now is in direct contrast of the Word and as such are we not ignoring the Word, which would damn ourselves along with the homosexuals?

The words of the Lord also tell us to be forgiving to those who sin, even such an evil sin as sodomy. We should not interfere with their sins of the flesh, as it is already to late to save them from themselves; God will do as he sees fit when they pass on to judgment, and they will atone for eternity. Instead, we should enlighten those who have not been tainted by the evils of the lustful ways of the homosexuals, and ensure that the union between man and woman is upheld in the house of the Lord, through law if we have to. For if we do the Lords work, and remove them from this plane, are we no better than them? By killing another man, do we not warrant eternal damnation as much as they do?

We are to stand up for what the Word says absolutely...we are not meant to be soft about it...

I am not saying in the least to go easy on homosexuals and their lifestyle - I am all for the sanctity of marriage - man/woman, it really needs to be protected and held up and valued..it's losing it's value quickly in this generation...

THIS generation has a lot to answer for because it is causing sexual confusion by allowing same sex marriages and allowing morality to rot by the wayside....

Every civilisation on Earth has acknowledged the man/woman basis of marriage...

Homosexuality has ALWAYS been a no no and for "them" to try and force their perverted way of life onto others and to put pressure on the education system to teach homosexuality in the guise of teaching about sexually transmitted diseases is an attempt to corrupt innocent children into accepting the notion of same sex relationships at an early age.

How many other things are in direct contrast to the Word?

Are we going to be damned for those too?

If you remember right, Lot and his family were taken out of Sodom before God destroyed the cities.

Jesus did not ignore their sin and we should not either. HE was in the mist of the sinners, showing them the way. The only time it is too late for sinners is after death. To just give up on them is wrong. To judge the world is Gods place. To judge sin in the church is ours.

No, you miss my point...let's be zealous for the sanctity of marriage...the Body of Christ..NOT just some...we shouldn't be suffocated under the weight of homosexuality and this worlds distorted view of sexuality...let's be loud and proud about it...

I hate to do this, but....

The sanctity of marriage has many more enemies than just same sex marriage. Look at the divorce rate in this country. We have "stars" that go through marriages like most of us go through a pair of shoes. Sadly, look at the rate of divorce in the church, it is no better than the rest of the world.

We should fight for the sanctity of marriage, but it has many fronts that most don't want to deal with

I mentioned the divorce rate in my earlier replies...

Why is this happening? Is it because Christian marriages are similar to secular marriages?

It should be polar opposites...take out self at the centre of marriages and put God there..firmly there.

And what does the Word say?

In what aspect?

We are to constantly remind people that it was man and woman from the beginning.

When a little girl in Massechusettes(?) sees her teachers engagement ring and inquires if she is marrying a boy or girl, then that is sexual confusion because Western society is bent on self and trying to remove morality from traditional values..I believe the little girl was 5 and that same sex marriages are legal in Masachusettes

they may be legal to man's law but not by God's law

and this i think is important we must always stand by His law

and at the same time hate the sin not the sinner

having worked in the AIDS ministry at the hospice for 10 years, it is easier for me to show the compassion needed when dealing with some of the gays and lesbians

but i do know that same sex marriage is wrong and perverting the youth of this generation

i stand with Christ

lv yr sis in Christ

manie

I wouldn't suggest hating the sinner...

Love is also about pointing out the error of someone's ways. Jesus did that all the time - it was part of the way He loved people.

I had a Pastor once who would ruffle some of the Church folks feathers by preaching sermons that were "in your face" and not genteel enough...

His take was this:- life isn't a joke - it's about eternity and where you will spend it. I have an obligation to help save lives and that's what I'm going to do.

I agree with that thinking more and more.

Where did the idea of the sanctity of marriage come from? Are marriages that are between to unsaved people sanctified? Is anything that is done outside of our beliefs sanctified?

I agree with MAN's posts 1000%. If we Chrisitians would sanctify ourselves unto the LORD, HE would bless that and take care of the rest. (2Chron 7:14 shows us GOD's heart towards this matter) This notion of waging war with the weapons of this world and expecting to have any victory in this world is just a complete waste of time and effort and gives the enemy all the strength needed to win the battles.

Still, as it has been written, we will not do this, they will continue to stregthen and in the end this world will be as Sodom and Gamorah and as the days of Noah.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
