Just to put some things out there about Deborah....

First, the assignment was given to Barak, but he said "if thou wilt go with me, then I will go. If thou wilt not go with me, then i will not go." Hide behind a woman's skirt, how nice  Deborah said she would go with him:

Jdg 4:9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.

However... notice it was Barak who went:

Jdg 4:10 And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.

Jdg 4:15 And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all [his] chariots, and all [his] host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off [his] chariot, and fled away on his feet.

Jdg 4:16 But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; [and] there was not a man left.

However... God had appointed Deborah a judge over the people:

Jdg 4:4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

Jdg 4:14 And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this [is] the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.

Looking at this passage.... Deborah was not a pastor, priest, minister, etc She was, however, over a people.

(course, there wasn't a church yet at this time, though over the children of Israel? Any one care to take that one?).

It may be true that the different sexes are better suited to certain roles by design, but the instructions regarding male leadership in the church was given to the church alone. There are no such instructions for other jobs. One could not argue from scripture that God forbids women from being president, or CEO etc.

i think youre emphasizing on the career label over a role that God gave man and woman.

Can a woman be a boss? sure.

Does that career position hinder her from being a helper to her husband if she takes the position?

some careers do and some careers do not.

If you notice....I'm using God's word to guide or shed light to the circumstance.

However, a $100,000 salary does make a great way to justify sending kids to a babysitter and hubby

still keeping his job.

telling a woman to be a helper to her husband will get you stoned if her personal goals are at stake.

I'd rather tell a young woman to be single and achieve her goals before she marry's.

I think it depends on the marriage and the couple

The roles of women in leadership discussed in the Bible only apply to the church. No to other venues

not true.

If woman was deisgned to be a helper for man than what do you think about a married woman that decides to

chase her career instead? This is different case by case however God gave both male and females roles. It's in scripture and one

can't deny it. Of coarse it's tough because EVERYONE is doing it but God's word and Everyone are two different things.

So to say "only church" is NOT TRUE. There is a lifestyle that is expected in those scriptures in your walk. Your walk should be

excercised outside of church too.

The proverbs 31 woman is the model for a wife and mother. One thing she does is make money.

Prophets were GODly councilors. They were not the leaders. Your scriptures point that out.

Prophets today are supposed to hold the same position, they council pastors and churches, but they are not the authority in the church and the pastor or church can ignor their council

The proverbs 31 woman is the model for a wife and mother. One thing she does is make money.

Proverbs 31 talks of a woman that is dedicated to her family, husband and home.

I fully supported Sarah Palin for Vice President, and am now supporting her to be the next President of the United States come 2012.

I cringed voting for McCain because of Sarah. Not because i dont think she was qualified (thats another topic) but because

she didnt fit the model that Proverbs 31 talked about. She had young kids at home, hubby makes great money yet she'd rather

go out and chase her own personal career goals. I was wondering how she was going to be VP and yet excercise all those verses of Proverbs 31.

Christian women shouted "yes we can."

Christian men shouted "yes you can." lol

Not meaning to come against your post because I agree that a woman can be President, but Esther had no authority. It was her husband that was in charge, and she simply used her influence. The only time a woman ruled in Israel was when a wicked woman tried to kill all the heirs to the throne, and set herself up as Queen. This lasted till the only surviving heir was old enough to be installed as king, and she was executed.

aaaahhh but she did influence him... and there are Queens today are there not... Blessings

In His Hands,

Ordinarily it is better in my opinion to have men as heads of state. At the same time we ought to point out some extraordinary examples of great women in government service: Deborah the Phrophetess, Margaret Thatcher, Jean Kirkpatrick, and Elizabeth Dole come to mind.

The main problem is that--like it or not--as a general rule (and we MUST of necessity speak in generalities or communication becomes impossible)--women tend to be much more influenced by their emotions than do men.

Oh no you didn't.

Them's fightin' words.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
