Yes…it’s true, but perhaps a time is coming where a clear choice will be available as to where loyalty is placed with a consequence other than in N. Korea. Of course, I do not know, but it seems to me that men will remain as they are up to the end of the age. I also believe Psalm 2 is prophetic and has the already but not yet facet, as does most prophecy…and points to the last of this age.2 points

Specifically it had to do at that time with Judah only and Jerusalem. Zechariah 2:12, it is stated that "The Lord will inherit Judah as His portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.1 point

For decades, many have thought that some kind of super computer would be used by antichrist to subjugate humans. Now, with the rapidly increasing capabilities of AI, this would appear more and more likely. And I've been watching, with fascination, the advancements in the coupling of computers and biology . . . that is, moving toward the ability of humans to be directly connected with electronics and by extension, the internet. If this bio/electronic link was perfected (think Borg), imagine the incredible power inherent in that - streaming internet and immense computing power one with a human brain! So does this fit with Revelation 13:15? "The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed." I dunno1 point

Hi @Your closest friendnt I think in the scheme of interpretation that Zechariah is more to do with Israel rather than with the church.....1 point

And maybe some genetic tinkering. Maybe human heads with animal bodies or sumptin . . . now that would be a beast! Bottom-line is, of course, that it's all conjecture.1 point

The reason why I think the mark of the beast likely deals with AI and technology, is due to it's capabilities. Right now in human terms, science is the end all and be all in terms of knowledge of reality. If people want to know about the world and existence, science is the key. (Again from a human perspective) The advancement of AI is basically the greatest creation to come from science. Now @Alive, you mention the mark could be simple in terms of loyalty. Well, I would say all throughout history, people have been loyal to different gods and so forth. A lot of things in ignorance. Yet Revelation points to this specific mark as being unforgivable. There are people in North Korea right now who worships Kim Jong Un and his fathers as gods, but I don't think the whole nation is doomed to the Lake of Fire. For this reason, the mark has to be something more than just a statement of loyalty. I think about the hypnosis phenomenon. A person being able to be put in a relaxed state to become susceptible to ideas and thoughts. It's not out of the question to have something implanted in the body that would put our brain waves into a certain state of suggestibility. (Of course I'm not saying the mark will literally be a chip implanted in the body per say. But it could ultimately be some form of technological augmentation for humans.)1 point

I do not think any of this technology will have anything to do with anything in prophecy or Revelation, but rather where a person places their loyalty.1 point
-
That is interesting - that if the mark is this implant, that it might be able to alter people's moods and will. That is, it could be designed to influence people so that they remain all euphoric (endorphins released) and therefore feel no need for God. Wow! And @Alive yer right - a good science fiction piece!1 point

(Worthy Satire) – In a shocking new study that no one asked for, researchers found that conservatives report higher levels of happiness than liberals across every measurable category — including work, family, relationships, pets, hobbies, weather, and even the taste of oatmeal. The groundbreaking findings triggered immediate outrage on social media, with liberals demanding a retraction and accusing the researchers of “happiness shaming.” “This study is oppressive,” tweeted one activist. “I’d be WAY happier if I wasn’t constantly being told that I’m supposed to be happy! Let me be miserable in peace!” Sources say liberal respondents proposed several conditions under which they might feel joy, including: abolishing capitalism, outlawing offensive speech, and ensuring nobody anywhere enjoys life more than they do. Meanwhile, conservatives celebrated the results with backyard barbecues, family game nights, and another round of not caring what Twitter thinks. Researchers are now considering a follow-up study: Why Does Everything Make Liberals Angry? Worthy Satire is meant purely for comedic purposes—after all, as Proverbs reminds us, “Laughter is good medicine.” But behind every satire is a real story, video, or event. For the unspun version of the headline, be sure to check out the original source. [ Source of the Satire (Read More…) ] View the full article1 point

IMO: Natural forces do not generate complexity, rather complexity stems only from intelligence. This implies an intelligent Creator.1 point

I do not know, obviously--but I suspect the Mark of the Beast is a much simpler thing.. The loyalty placed on the rulers and kings of the 'earth' mentioned in psalm 2. Psa. 2:1 (NKJVS) Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.” 4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. 5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: 6 “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.” 7 “I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ” 10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.1 point

And I also think the mark of the beast might have something to do with humans merging with artificial intelligence. Essentially such a person would become a cyborg. I figure at that point, a cyborg would no longer be able or be interesting in receiving Jesus into their heart. Their whole way of thinking would be altered. I kind of look at it like I saw the Nephilim. Taking the mark (fusing with technology) basically transforms you into another race of being. You would no longer be the creature God created, but are now an abomination. One more thing I think about concerning image of the beast, is that technology and artificial intelligence is a man made conception. God created the universe and the earth. God is King over all, thus His name is very great! Man on the other hand has join in the rebellion of the devil, the one who wanted to take God's position. And when we look at the incident with the Tower of Babel, man wanted to make a name for himself. So they disobeyed God's order to spread on the earth, and came together in one spot. And instead of using natural (God made) building materials, they made bricks. (Genesis 11:3) So I see artificial intelligence and the technology associated with it, like I do these bricks in Genesis 11:3. It is man's attempt to make a name for themselves, creating this technological form of life. Then once we fuse with it, we become a hideous form of life, that God has nothing to do with.1 point

Unprovoked? You do seem to live in an alternate reality, Luther. The avowed goal of the Iranian Islamic State since 1979 has been the complete eradication of the State of Israel, and they have been doing their best since then to attain it. Before the ayatollahs took power, Israel and Iran were on friendly term.1 point

Like other topics in Scripture, such as 'sanctification', there are two inheritances, to simplify things. One is based on relationship, and the other is earned. Not knowing which is which is what results in confusion among believers. I think the best verse that speaks of both inheriances is Rom 8:17 - Now if we are children, then we are heirs —heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. I've color coded for ease of explanation. The red words are about the guaranteed inheritance based simply on relationship. As a child of God, the believer is guaranteed to live with God for ever. It is not earned or deserved, but based solely on being a child of God. The blue words refer to potential inheritance as "co-heirs with Christ", but ONLY IF IF IF believers "share in His sufferings", and the result will be that "we MAY share in His glory", the purple words, a clear reference to His Millennial reign on earth. Rom 8:17b is also clearly stated in 2 Tim 2:12 - if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; Here, "enduring" is equivalent to "sharing in His sufferings" in Rom 8:17. The result will be to "reign with Him", equivalent to "sharing in His glory" in Rom 8:17. And, Paul added the negative to this inheritance; those believers who don't "endure" will be denied "reigning with Him" in glory.1 point

Pretty much where I stand as well. Much like the timing of the rapture I feel like the nature of Hell is one of those things we can't really have certainty on so it's not worth getting into a heated debate over. An open minded discussion where people can be humble about their view points, sure. But as with most things the more participants the more likely it is that someone's "certain" about their perspective and things heat up. I trust God that whatever the exact nature of Hell is, it will be fair and just and make sense.1 point
