  1. I have celebrated Christmas and Easter since I was little. After becoming a Christian and looking at how the differnt churches that I have attended over the years celebrated the holidays left some confusion. Then I married my husband. He doesnt participate in the hoidays, as we celebrate Christ's birth, death, and reserection everyday. Well the tree, is decorated almost every year, and baskets with goodies come out too in the spring. But we also are giving to the our neighbors and community inbetween these holidays. Even though the tree will come down and the baskets get put up, we are still celebrating with friends and neighbors every week.
  2. Please do not be mad at me, since the job that I have requires me to work some weekends. There are many people who have to work on Saturdays as well as Sundays. They should not be condemned for working weekends. I do set aside a day to worship and rejoice in God. I do have my day of rest. Sometimes its three days of rest. As far as finding a "perfect church"...well they dont exist. But to find a church in which, you will grow and be spiritually fed is important. Please dont look at fautls of the congregation or the pastor. They are afterall, human, just like you. And we are all in different walks with God. Rejoice that we are not all the same as if we came from the same mold. We are all unique and special to God in our own ways. That is how God created us to be. I understand the importance of obediance to be baptized. I dont understand whose authority it is to baptize people. At my church, sometimes the pastor does it and sometimes the pastor has another gentleman do it. We are to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but I do not know the requirements to be a baptizer. Obviously, its not to live in the desert and eat locusts with honey. Do baptisms have to be in a church building or do they have to be in a lake, river, or stream We are called to be witnesses to Christ crucified for our sins and he rose again. We let our lives be a living testimony to this. and we let God do His work in the lives of people we witness to. I dont know if this helps you in any way, shape or form.
  3. I agree with Lady C on this one. I cannot express enough for Christian counseling and setting boundaries for your children with your husband.
  4. Thank you Marnie for sharing this insight. You too are a wonderful minister to us at Worthy. Thank you for you words of wisdom and encouragement
  5. I am under the impression that getting a dog crate, the right size for your dog, actually helps. It helps the dog feel secure while you are gone. Its a thought anyway.
  6. I agree with that response. However, I grew up in snake land with rattlers, water and garden snakes, I have heard many stories about snakes and bites but not the head of a snake biting. Now I live in the land of no snakes, however, we have other nasty pests to be on the lookout for.
  7. That is how i like them. Never had them until i was stationed in the south either.
  8. Hmmmmmm that being the case i must not be jumping enough
  9. You want to know what I do now? (now that i know better) I keep a pleasant tone and tell them to have a good day. When I leave their presence, I offer up a prayer for them to God. I tell myself that they are just having a bad day. Since we all have bad days from time to time, it just must be their day to have one. It took a long time to learn this, but it is so much more rewarding that what I used to do, which is pretty much what every one else wants to do.
  10. From what you have stated, i would also say no to a biblical divorce. It sounds as though this husband needs rehab, preferably in-patient, since he is refusing to be accountable to a mentor at church. They both need serious marital counseling as well. But it sounds like the wife wants a divorce and is trying to justify it biblically by calling his additiction adultery. I feel a separation and counseling might work as well. I dont know the couple, so I am only assuming by what information is given--
  11. Can the homosexual see God's light in you?
  12. Does that mean we are all carrying someone else's ID? I hope the security guard at the gate where I work doesnt figure this out. I have been showing him the same id for 4 years now. And another funny thing is, all my co-workers know me by my illegal ID So if my lD is illegal, am I still legal
  13. I was in school for elementary education. Not only is public school system is very liberal, the politics in the education board on campus were even worse. I dont want to discourage you from continuing your education in elementary ed. In fact, I believe we could use more Christian teachers in our public schools. In the future, that might be one reason for not letting Christians teach, but for today, it is what we need. BTW my grades were mostly "A's" my senior year.
  14. My husband has never taken his off. But mine comes off when I am using cleaners, or even rubber gloves, when cleaning house. A time before when I did not remove a diamond ring when washing dishes. End result was a trip to the emergency room as diamonds cut glass and glass cuts skin, in this case, it cut skin off. (Made it easier for the dr to see that no tendons were cut) Mine also comes off for cleaning and when i put lotions on. I have a triple band welded and i don't like getting lotion in between the rings. I feel rings are a symbol of marriage. Loosing a ring, or having one cut off doesn't lose or cut off the marriage. I remember hearing a story of a marine who was injured in the left hand and the drs wanted to cut off his ring. He insisted that they save the ring and cut off his finger. So his finger was cut off and his ring became lost. To me, this marine had his priorities mixed up, but then that is me. Rings are a symbol, and IMO can be replaced for what ever reason ei, lost, stolen wrong size etc.
  15. We had carpenter ants last year that were a huge problem. Our land lord hired an exterminator to spray the house. He said that he used the same exterminator years ago for an ant problem, and it had lasted 10 years. Well after two months of vaccumning dead ants, they were gone...............one year later, I saw one... mind you one, on the kichen floor. Upon looking at the various entry points of last year, no evidence how this one lone stalker came inside. I am not fond of chemical insectacides, so I too, will look at others useful advice.
  16. Your Score Your scored 2 on the Moral Order axis and -3 on the Moral Rules axis The following items best match your score: System: Conservatism Variation: Moderate Conservatism Ideologies: Capital Republicanism US Parties: Republican Party Presidents: Richard Nixon (93.37%) 2004 Election Candidates: George W. Bush (84.07%), John Kerry (77.47%), Ralph Nader (60.47%) Statistics Of the 344966 people who took the test: 0.5% had the same score as you. 70.1% were above you on the chart. 24.8% were below you on the chart. 14.6% were to your right on the chart. 77% were to your left on the chart.
  17. I see this as well with my mormon neighbors. They are morally good people. They believe that their good works will give them a place in heaven too. There are many law abiding citizens that will not be entering the pearly gates as their heart is not right with God. Unless they turn to Jesus and repent their sins, as good as they are, they will not get into heaven.
  18. Are you positive the batteries that you used are working? I have on several times taken brand new batteries out the package and into a device only to find out frustrating minutes later that the batteries are dead as well.
  19. I just paid off my husband's bowflex, since its still sitting in storage, can i ship it to you?
  20. I know that I am now paying the most that I ever have had to pay for fuel before, even though its not the highest in the world....yet. I have also found that the higher octane fuel gives my truck far better gas mileage per tank of gas. Some of you already knew this, I just found out after a "test" of what would paying .10 more per gallon do to my mpg. When I was visiting my father, and offered to pay for his gas after using his truck to pick us up and drive us back to the airport, he put in the more expensive gas. I held my tongue, and believed that this is the same fuel that he had been using. My test at home proved that using the higher octane, I do get 120 miles more per tank of fuel. Just my .02 cents worth.
  21. In 1 Cor 2:15, Paul states: The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, "Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" In 1 Cor 4:5, Paul states: Therefore, judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of people's hearts. At that time, each will receive their praise from God. In 1 Cor 5:12, Paul states: What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked person from among you." This can be somewhat confusing. I do judge things in my personal life. Things that I will let in my life or not. When talking with others, and they say they do something that I would not do, I do not tell them that I am against it, but that is something I choose not to do because I believe it to be this or that. (One particular subject: not keeping money left in a money machine) If there is someone who is doing something that we find in the Bible to be immoral, I do take the issue to prayer.
  22. As long as pastors, preachers, and those able to perform marraige ceremonies have the right to marry or not to marry, regardless of whether or not couples are gay/lesbian or straight, this case should not go very far. The clergy do need to stand up for their own convictions. If a Catholic priest will not perform my marriage because I am not Catholic, that is his choice and right not to do so. Right now the states and federal governement cannot force anyone to perform a marriage ceremony for anyone. To do so is in violation of civil rights. I realize that attacking peoples civil rights is what some politicians are all about. I do believe that we as Christians should be aware of such attacks or preceived attacks and be praying for our church leaders and congregations. I am sure that there will be a day when some government will be telling us which religous faith we will be following....or die. I am glad that today is not that day.
