Start demonstrating that because the universe is scientifically demonstrable that it has a beginning and throw in the logical reasoning that everything that has a beginning has a cause and you have an atheist who can see where one is going and is doing all they can to avoid the conclusion that something unknown caused the universe to begin. Is this a line of argument you can make to an atheist Can you argue that fine tuning implies a creator? That morality implies a creator?

If you are repling to a post please use the 'quote' option. Sin as you say is the biggest problem as it causes people to reject Jesus. Yes a lot of sin is nonsence, but it is nonsence they are addicted to. Why do you think God will provide a way to escape sin, it is not something one can go 'BOO!' to and it vanishes. I used the picture of a helicopter because we need something that takes us out, we don't escape, we are lifted out by Gods power not our ability.

The simple truth is that we are rebellous sinners unable to save ourselves and that it is Jesus who saves us.

This is nearly a year old and hopefully the op has resolved her issue with this church. Had I seen it when new my responce would be to talk to the pastor and his wife, to point out that there behaviour was wrong. Two thing would happen. Denial and being asked to leave, in which case say good bye. or Admitance and a desire to change. That would require great wisdom. People have said we cannot critices the pastor! Talk to your pastor to find out how they would love that to be true. Are there times when we should be critical of an elder or offical of the church. Yes, if they are not preaching the gospel or are preaching falsehood etc or as in this post there lives do not match there profession. I'm sorry but you either sue or write it off and forget it. Do learn from these experiences. Look very hard at a new church, do they seek to practise what they preach, do they actualy work through the whole bible appling it to real life or is it all 'airy fairy just believe'. Always have a contract when buying and selling, or at the least a signed letter spelling out who is doing what, ( never a photocopy always an orginial handwritten letter written out twice.) Don't be disapointed when Christians fail you, we are only saved sinners. Pray for there benefit and hand unrepentant offenders to God for him to deal with, them and your emotions.

It wouldbe nice, become a Christian and nothing in life can hurt you. Step in front of a speeding lorry, you'll come out unhurt! Jump over a skyscrapper and land lightly on the ground! Unfortunetly God is wiser than us and doesn't do that. We all experience everything that comes our way. There is one difference, Jesus promised an eturnity to those who trusted in him and an eturnity separeted from him for those who didn't trust him. Pain and suffering is real and horible, you will still have to face it what ever you decide, but what of eturnity? What of Jesus? Historian accept he lived and died. They also accept that the disciples believed they had met with a resurrected Jesus. Strangly those same disciples went on to die horrible deaths because thgey said they had met the risen Jesus. What is your answer to what happened? Did Jesus rise from the dead? If he did you need to pay attention to what he said.

Do something different. Talk to your minister about your spiritual state, discuss what you are doing and what things you could change or do differently. Try setting some time aside for bible reading, prayer and thinking about what Jesus means to you. Try reading a more challenging theological book. No God doesn't need elders, but he does use them. Did you not realise that it is not the faith of the sick who causes God to heal, but the faith of those praying. In saying it is the faith of the sick you are laying a burden on someone already struggling with a burden, whgy do you make it harder?

The problem sin is not nonsence, it is a very real problem that takes effort and determination to not fall in to. 1Cor 10: 12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. Two points in this passage. When one thinks he isn't sinning, that is when you will. 2nd, what you are facing can be beaten, if you want to beat it. That is the key. Do you want to fail or are you prepared to make the effort and avoid it, look at the last sentence. God will provide a way out of temptation. He is not charging in like a SWAT team, but he's the helicopter lowering a rope to the guy in the water, take it or go under.

Up untill this sentence I was with you. This is an idea that is not found in the bible. What the bible saysin James 5: 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. It is the prayers of the elders that will cause God to heal, not the sick persons faith.

I disagree with that interpretation. John is writing to a church who he addresses as 'dear children' and as 'friends' and he is talking not to a church but to people as individuals so it is as individuals that we respond. Apart from that he didn't have the authority to call on nations to repent etc.

he bible teaches that a married couple are one. It alspo teaches that there is a higherarchy in marriage. The Christian women has to obey her Christian husband, but the husband is to 'love' his wife in the same way as Jesus loves his church. As a husband what are you prepared to give up for your wife. Wifes if your husband loves you like that, is it a problem to obey him?

May I suggest talking to your minister about your uneasy and the effect it is happening on you. Is there any particular area that causes you unease? Is there something in your life or something in the world? Are you prone to depression? Have you talked to your doctor about it?

These are the two principal problems for radioactive dating of rocks. The amount of the daughter product present when the rock was formed, the influence/contamination of various effents and the rate of reduction from the parent to daughter product. What also is a major problem is the different results found in different materials in the rock sample. Granite has quartz in it yet radioactive dating of the different rocks always results in vastly diffeent ages. Volcanic lava flows have been witnessed and sampled yet the date the rock flowed and cooled has a vastly differnt age to the radioactive date.
