There are an enormous number of people needing prayer. We need to be disciplined in how we approach intercessory prayer. One method is in a church to device the world up, so volunteers pray regularly for certain countries or people groups. To have defecated prayer meetings for each of the churches missionaries and causes they support. Prayer diaries are a way of helping one regulate who and when one prays. But above all a spirit that is sensitive to the prompting of the Spirit is vital. Duncan Campbell tells the story of while he was on a Scottish island he went to visit an elder of the church. Only to be told by his wife he couldn't be disturbed as he was in the bard praying. He waited, visiting the wife and when the elder appeared asked him about it. To be told, The Lord laid it on my heart to pray for Greece, so I did. There are many stories he told about prayer.

There is a difference between being tempted to sin and having mental illness, just as there is a difference between a badly brushed organs a broken leg. How one seek to advice people depends on what one problem is being advices. You don't tell someone with abdomen leg to take pain killers and rest!

HATE = Matt 10;22, Mark 13;13, Luke 6;22-23, John 3;20-21
Who me replied to MizKJVOnly's topic in Theology
Do you have a reason or a message behind posting this collection of verses. For those of us who are dense an explanatory message is helpful or is it a random collection of superstition pretending to be spiritual? -
The question is irrelevant as God is not dealing with tribes, nations etc but with individuals. As others have said, it is God who chooses us, who predestined us to be his and it is God's grace and mercy that any of us are saved. Every person who becomes a Christian is from that point under the new covenant, though a case could be made that since we were saved from the moment God selected us prior to creation, we have always been under the new covenant.

I've answered your other post. Further information for you. Look up 25 tips for successfully treating your ocd and read it, particularly the section about intrusive thoughts. Then talk to your doctor. You need professional medical help.
-
Intrusive thoughts, like what you report, are not real. They are the product of an ill mind. You need to get professional medical help. In the mean while do not argue, debate or try to suppress such thoughts all you do when a thought appears that wants you to do something, say or think something, is say " that is right. " Then carry on giving that thought no more attention.

ByTwo points. We should not seek to argue, but to show that Christianity is a reasonable explanation and to show that atheism does not have a coherent explanation for life etc. Two questions, What do you believe? What evidence do you have for that belief?

Something one is truly blessed to have. Look at the history of many great men of God, they often had a Godly mother.

The Mischievous Superstition that Conquered The Roman Empire
Who me replied to Riverwalker's topic in General Discussion
Plinked letters to trajan are another interesting view of Roman attitude to Christianity. As are the early apologists, as they depict how the early church met and worshipped. -
8Hadn't heard of him till I saw your post. Wiki says he is a multi millionaire. I an highly suspicious of anychristian leader who is a millionaire. Using Google I found an Australian Christian site that both praised and was critical of him. On balance they said his knowledge of the OT was faulty, even substandard and that his view of grace was questionable. On balance I would have nothing to do with him.

If you have been told you have done nothing wrong, yet cannot attend bible studies, that is the same as having done wrong. The other tactic would be to ask someone about the bible study, making sure you let him know you have been told not to attend and you do not know why. Either why you will cause disturbance in the church. Or you could ask the larger on Sunday loudly and in front of others why he says you cannot attend a bible study. Or leave, but email or write to every member telling them your story.

Please do the following. Read John 6 verses 37-40 1 John1:9 And look up on Google 25 tips for successfully treating your ocd. John 6 tells you Jesus will keep those who are his and prevent them to his Father. Only Christians worry about cursing Jesus, unforgivable sin etc etc etc1 John is a reminder that Jesus Will forgive us our sins, if we tell him we are sorry. And the 25 tips contains information you need in ordr to control your intrusive thoughts. Information one of the other poster has already told you about, that is. Do not rogue, talk with or try to suppress these strang thoughts. All you do is say " ok thTs right" no matter how repulsive the thought you may say " ok ". Lastly study what Jesus taught, get the facts about salvation, the forgiveness of sin assurac of salvation firmly fixed in your head. Then start learning from the of.

By exempt do you mean, not allowed to attend church services? I would turn up any way and if denied access ask very loudly why. Otherwise does this church belong to an organisation with some sort of oversight. Failing that send a designation letter stating your disappointment that the minister will not talk to you.

What other country should I referr to. I thought I'd made that clear, will clarify better next time.

Making a Habit of Arguing/Debating Scripture
Who me replied to Hopefully's topic in General Discussion
Why are you arguing, that implies that people are getting cross and not listening to each other. Timothy was the minister teaching his church and it was his job to teach people, correcting false ideas. This is clear from the contex of 2 tim2:14. There is nothing wrong with debating, about our understanding of scripture. It is worth noting how the word ' Bible ' is used colloquial. Instruction books and manuals are often referred to as a or the ' Bible '. This happens because in folk memory Christians are always referring to what the Bible says. Christians should be people of the Bible with an in-depth, and intimate knowledge of it. This is not as ignorant people accuse them, worshipping the Bible. But an out working of their love of and for Jesus, that they want to know him more. They are doing this by knowing what he has said and by seeking to understand it. -
just want some nice words
Who me replied to faithfull-prophet4040's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
This Sund for the first time in about three months our church opened for worship. We had two morning services, the first was broadcast on line, at each there were 50 people instead of our normal congregation of 100+, we could not sing, or mix as we normally would. The limitation aside it as great to be together with other saved sinners worshipping our saviour. You want encourement, as I have repeatedly replied to you, attend your church. There you will be instructed, rebuked, encouraged by the sermons, worship and you will also encourage others as they encourage you. Christians are not meant to be isolated. Use the Christianity explored web site to find a church in your area. -
No those who distrust any authority for what ever reason would rather use inaccurate, biased, ' reliable' sources. Hi official stats for deaths where vivid is the recorded cause now total 149,000. This is in a country many times small than the us, who are currently in the Third lock down since the pandemic started and have the highest rate of inoculations in the world. Two suggestions. Take vivid very, very seriously. Re check your sources.

May I suggest that you see if you your partner and your pastor/elder could do a Bible study on forgiveness. If not possible are you able to talk with your husband? Ask him for his views on what the Bible says about husbands and wives, what it say about forgiveness? Husbands are to love their wife, in the same way that Jesus loves us, sacrificing everything for us. Wives are merely to obey their husband. Forgiveness is governed by Luke 17:3 we must forgive if there is repentance.

Who gave the devil permission to assault Job?
Who me replied to Riverwalker's topic in General Discussion
Job has lost his family, his wealth and his health. He is suffering and he is not shy about letting us know he is suffering. We all fear that something will happen to those we love, but that doesn't open the door to something happening to them. Job is an object lesson that in trouble we can moan, but we still can and should trust God. -
If she doesn't like the suggestions of books to read, ask her what do you believe? Then when she has explained that. Ask what evidence do you have to support that view? An additional question is. What evidence would you accept? I would suggest if she is serious to invite her to a Christianity explored or to an alpha course and to offer to go with her. The web sites of the same names will let you search where the nearest course is.

I would recommend Lee strobel's the Case for Christ. Like most books about Jesus it is not beautiful, but it is honest as that is what your friend needs more than pretty phrases.
-
Forgiveness by God is an act of his grace, it is not earned by our forgiving others.

There are words I have never heard in the bible
Who me replied to Riverwalker's topic in General Discussion
Because many groups hold firmly to what they see as the only way to Jesus and will not consider other ways to be valid. So long as other people using the label ' Christian ' are able to agree with each other as to the essentials of the gospel and agree to disagree on secondary matters then ' Christians' can fellowship with each other.
