How would you deal with OCD intrusive thoughts
Who me replied to Kili's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Intrusive thoughts are not real, the recommended means of dealing with intrusive thoughts is to just acknowledge them, to say ' that's right or ok,' one should not discuss, argue, ignore or suppress these thoughts. Have a look for 25 tips for successfully treating ocd, written by a psychiatrist to help his patients and talk with your doctor/therapist about your intrusive thoughts and this article as you may need medication to help you get on top of these thoughts. Lastly may I suggest investigating the resurrection of Jesus. Did it happen? If it didn't what evidence is there? -
should i give up
Who me replied to faithfull-prophet4040's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
You are asking, " Should I give up? " I am interested why you are a rebellious, hater of Jesus? You say that you have heard Jesus say to you, " Do Not Give Up! ". So why are you showing contempt for what he has instructed you.. The Christian life is no where said or promised to be easy. Jesus said we can expect to be treated as he was treated. Grit your teeth, bird up your loins and put your trust in Jesus, of your trust in the facts that he has said he will never let you go. Don't believe me, go and talk t your minister. Had you got in the habit of doing so you would not be in such a state. -
Which is what I have already said.

How to be a Christian in that has job
Who me replied to Follower's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
You work in restaurants where staff and customers engage in sexually explicit talk and casual blasphemy etc. You have to be different, by not taking part of having a potty mouth. You can also talk about church. You will be the ' religious nut job ', stick to your guns,be the one who is always helpful, cheerful, who never runs others down or is spiteful etc etc. Be ready to give a reason for why you are different and be sure to have a reason, and not a fluffy mysic faith. Christianity is fact based and is reasonable, while atheism is unreasonable. -
That is not in dispute. What I am saying is they cannot plead ' I didn't know it was wrong. '
-
I hav consistently to your talk to your minister. Why won't you do this? Faith is a gift from God, you do not loose it, God both gives and sustains you. Your task is to trust God. So go and talk to your minister and get some help face to face.

Infant "Baptism" How Do They Justify It?
Who me replied to Starise's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
"Is a huge stretch involved to get to this belief or is it plain as day and I'm missing it? So far I just don't see the scripture to make those connections." it depends what you believe. If you believe we are saved solely vthrough faith in Jesus, then infant baptism or christening is just superstition and you can ignore it it is only if you believe it is vital for the salvation of anybody that you need to know what it's supporters believe the Bible says about it. -
Just how willing were Jews, and a pagan world to accept a belief that turned there world view upside down? How willing is a modern pagan world willing to accept a belief system that turns how they view the world, upside down? Can you say what difference there is between Rome of the first century to say new York, la, or London today?

Unless one is willing or able to acknowledge that one needs help and accept help then progress will be slow. AA's twelve steps to recovery is a very good tool for helping oneself. But it is useless if one does not recognise there is a problem.
-
None. I was making a point, showing that when acts was written the number of Christians was in the few tens of thousands compare to the millions of pagans in the population and when today is looked at there isn't much difference. Both societies were/are hostile to Christianity and to Christians. Want to know God's will/plan etc. Very simple, live as a Christian showing the same sacrifical love as Jesus showed to those who hated him.

Agree with patriot21, let scripture and the spirit do the convincing. I would add be a very good friend to this Muslim. Take lots of time to know them as they risk loosing everything.

Very true, two questions. How often does your church talk about the sacrifical role of the husband in a marriage. Our example in how we are to love our wife is Jesus in his giving up heaven and going to the cross. How does your minister apply this to marriage and to all in positions of authority in the church. 2nd. How would your church deal with the accusation of abuse by a church offical. The classic two are a minister demanding obedience when making questionable decisions or of the youth leader having sex with under aged girls and the church covering it up. Go ahead and ask your minister how these would be dealt with?

The honest Question is. Do those around us see Jesus in us, in our speech, in how we work, in our deeds. Just how different are we to our neighbors? Attitudes towards the poor, to those who are different to us, whether black, coloured, speakers of a different language or attendees of different churches, temples etc.
-
Just what do you understand by this verse? How should it have been posted in the light of Jesus's statement that we can expect the world to treat us in the same way as they treated him?

May I suggest you read some history, maybe history of Christianity. Have you any idea of the nature of the Roman world that Christians were living in ? It as not Christian, strange today's world is not Christian. They faced discrimination, loss of employment, being robbed of possessions, strange Christians face these threats today in the west, yes even in America. Paul wrote to those facing perscution about these ' light and momentary troubles ' What does God want from all Christians. Simple to show that they Love him by how they live.

For thing is You do not save yourself or make yourself rightous. It is Jesus who saves you. It is Jesus who having given up the Glory, Splendour, Power etche had in heaven came as a baby, lived as a human and died ahorrible, degrading, shameful, painful death to forgive you your sins and to give you his righteousness. This is basic Christianity. Second you need to read and re read and re read https://iocdf.org/expert-opinions/25-tips-for-ocd-treatment/ Then talk to your doctor/therapist about it. Also discuss it with your minister so he can support you better. A big problem with OCD is the ' intrusive thoughts ' that seem to tell you to do or say nasty things, or seem that you are thinking them. There is only one way to deal with them and that is to say ' ok that's right. ' and just carry on. Last thing, stop watching, listening to end time preaching, rantings etc. You have enough to be dealing with so put your energies into normal everyday Christian living, reading the Bible, praying about it, praying for all those who need prayer and in living for Jesus.

'Praying with your boots on'
Who me replied to Thewhitedove's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
Family life is made up of compromises. There will be certain service when your children are involved or when they are intended for the whole family. You can talk about next Christmas services, about the whole family going, he may not accept going next Christmas, but in time he will, if only to stop you asking. Church outgoings, work vents, men's meetings spending on how imagentive your minister is there are many opertunities to involve non Christian spouses. -
Why do you want to rival the devil and rule the world?
-
What has Christianity got Todo with storming capital hill? What did James say. He told off Christians who favoured a rich man who wasn't Christian yet abused a poor man who was a Christian. There are no news, Greeks, slave or free in Christianity. There should be No racial segregation, no division based on wealth or class in Christianity and the love shown by these different sections of society should shock a pagan world. Live it.
-
Two questions that are very powerful. What do you believe? Let's people talk to you, explain what they believe so you understand where they are coming from. What evidence do you have for that belief? Puts them on the spot to make their belief reasonable. Just be sure you can answer these questions as well. Coldcasechristianity is a useful site for information etc.

'Praying with your boots on'
Who me replied to Thewhitedove's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
May I suggest then that you lower the intensity. Your intense constant prayers are not going to change God's mind about when he will save your husband. So drop the temperature, still pray for him, but maybe pray that he will attend church, will have a discussion with you about spiritual things, etc etc Deepen your spiritual life and broaden your prayers to include those in your church family as well as those suffering abroad etc. I like the illustration of praying with work boots on, except you need to be praying with your marathon running shoes on. A lady in our church saw her husband converted. Converted recently after forty years of married life, just before he died. So lace up your running shoes, and get involved in your local church, live the Christian live before your husband and your children, introduce them to church activities, insist on family attendance at certain family/evangelistic services like at Christmas and Easter. One of the major influence on the husband I mentioned, was the Christian men he got to know, men of integrity,of character and who were educated, holding down professional jobs or running successful businesses. -
How to deal with brokenness?
Who me replied to Iamnikki's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
We do not redeem or heal ourselves. Let go of that responciblity. Have you spoken to your minister about this? Did he suggest you might need to see your doctor? Feeling one has constantly failing, that nothing is right is not healthy so please speak to your minister/doctor. Look at what Jesus gave up, what he endured, what he suffered in order to save you and me. If You are his than nothing in all creation can separate you from his love. -
Then you are judging God forge said that All have sinned in both the old and the new. Salvation depends entirely on God's grace and mercy, not on man's efforts.
