  1. No wonder I like hanging out here...all the comedians and the really smart ones. Of course, you have to figure out which category you are in
  2. It really puzzles me how many people get all bent out of shape over rules. There are rules about posting on this forum and yet people challenge them over and over again and then get mad when they are reminded of them. Almost every part of our daily life has "rules". Where you work, where you shop (shoes and shirts, no checks etc.), rules of the roads, where you bank, games you play and so on. So why do people just absolutely INSIST on defying rules that (a) they read and agreed to or (b) are clearly posted? Maybe its just me, but I was taught to obey rules. Ok I feel better
  3. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. Susan Rosegen was a fixture for years in New Orleans with NO PERSONALITY, then she magiclly got a job with National Geographic which was hardly a blip on the radar, back to New Orleans and now she is with CNN. She never had any reporting skills in New Orleans and clearly nothing has changed except she has become aggressive or perhaps showing her true colors after all. It's so interesting when liberals like Rosegen get their feathers all ruffled when "WE THE PEOPLE" voice an opinion about actually wanting to keep what we earned. I know thats nervy of us...imagine that. Earning money and actually getting to keep it and not have the government take over half and give it to others. Geesh what were we thinking.
  4. All of those types of movies are anti-God just by thier very nature. They glorify whatever genre it is, demon posession, vampires, ghosts, or whatever. It's all about "darkness" and rarely do you see GOD being the winner over the evil. Personally I don't think Christians should be filling their minds with that type stuff. I realize that is my opinion, but I just keep thinking of the Scripture from 2 Corinthians 6:14 "...what fellowship can lightness have with dark?"
  5. Fasinating! Way to complex for "random". The most complex things we create as humans pale in comparrison to what God has created. No way is any of this a product of evolution. Complex desgin requires a designer. It requires thought and that didn't happen by chance. Thanks for sharing!
  6. I think its a great reponse to this nonsense. People still have the freedom of CHOICE in this country. If Biden chose to buy from a private individual, then why is that anyone's business, but his. Since when is buying a dog, something of national concern? Good grief! I am for buy an animal at a shelter, I have done it several times in the past. However, should I choose to buy a specific breed from a breeder, then that is MY BUSINESS. Not PETA's! And the same for anyone in this country, including the President or VP. I feel sorry for the lady who sold the dog. What a bunch of moron's who are attacking her.
  7. I am for keeping "under God" in the pledge, but who are we kidding. It's been in the pledge for over 55 years and you sure can't tell it by the way this nation is headed. So did it really help to put it there? Who knows? It's the hearts of the people that need to be reached that will make a difference.
  8. Just another example of someone saying, "yeah God said that, but he really meant this". I guess they missed the verse about God is the same, yesterday, today and forever.
  9. Wow, I love both the photos , the one nebula and AyinJade posted. Amazing!
  10. We sit in the back, because we learned early on that the kids are not distracted by what's going on behind them and therefore are looking towards the front of the church. We continue doing this with our great grandson and it works really well. Amazing how people can decide the reasons why people sit in the back without knowing the real purpose. Leave the content of the heart to God.
  11. Jeptha's daughter was dedicated to remain a virgin and devoted to the tabernacle service for the rest of her life. Basically this also meant this was the end of Jephthah's lineage because he had no other child to carry his name (v 34). The sacrifice was great for Jephthah's household.
  12. Nebula, well said! I have had several people call me a pacifist because I don't want to "try to stop what it going on." They would know how much of a pacifist I am if they ever tried to harm a family member However, to think that I could alter a plan that God set before the foundation of the world is rather arrogant. No, I don't like what I see happening, but I can pray about it and leave it in God's hands. I can be prepared spiritually for all that I see unfolding that we were warned about in Scripture. I can prepare my family and friends as much as they will allow me too. I can share the gospel with those willing to hear. I can be doing what was commanded of me. That I can do. I am not sitting on my porch sipping coffee waiting for the end like some do, but I sure don't think I am going to prevent it from happening which is the mind set of some people. I think its foolish to not pay attention to the signs of the times, but at the same time, I don't worry about it. If I have placed my trust in God then what have I to fear!
  13. It does seem to be specific instructions for that one situation. What I find most interesting about the story of Peter cutting of the ear of Malchus is that Jesus restored 'man's" hearing in the garden. The first man Adam lost his hearing (ability to commune with God, one on one) in the garden. Jesus, the second man Adam restores hearing in the garden. It was also Jesus last miracle before His cruicifixion. God is so amazing in all that he does. We just miss the importance a lot of the times. There are no small things when it comes to God. Everything has meaning and importance.
  14. That is so true of most of us. We believe it, because it involves someone else and not us. In other words, yes THAT works for him, but no way will it work if I am involved. We have faith for others but not ourselves which is why we miss a lot of blessings. One of my favorites quotes is "People want God to do something so they can believe. God wants people to believe so he can do something." That sums it up!
  15. Man...You are so right!!! Wouldn't getting up and moving as soon as someone sits down be considered rude? I would think that is the epitome of rude. Doesn't the Bible tell us that love is not rude? How is this showing Christian love? Although, I do agree that sitting in the middle of others would be a good solution. For a while, I was purposely coming in late to church to avoid him, but I really don't like doing that!!!! STOP worring about what others think. If you think others perceive you as rude, because you get up and move, you can apologize to them later for your "lack of socail skills." I wasn't suggesting making a production out of it...just say excuse me, get up go to the back of the church for a few minutes while you find another place to sit. The most important thing for you to do is get out of the cross-hairs of this person. Worry about how it appears later. I can assure you that most people you know in your group at church aren't aware you have a problem with him because you haven't given in any indications of it. If you start ignoring him they will pick up on it. Pray for him, YES. But by all means keep your distance.
  16. You have been given some really good advice. But I noticed that you said in one of your latest posts that he gave you a gift, and that you need to give it back. HELLO! STOP taking gifts from him. You are saying one thing, but doing another. STOP! When he brings you a gift say NO THANK YOU and turn and walk away. When he sits beside you, get up and move, or at least sit in the middle of others, so he will not be able to sit by you. Stop making yourself available. When he comes up to chat with you, say excuse me" and walk away. You do not have to be rude, but you can be direct and to the point. He is stalking you, but you aren't helping yourself by trying to be nice and not hurt his feelings. Just because he is in church doesn't mean his motives are pure. I have seen too many "church guys" that were wolves in sheeps clothing. Many a pervert know that they are able to find prey at a church. If being rude is the worse thing you ever do, you will be ok. But STOP this man NOW. You are putting yourself in a dangerous situation by being polite. GO to the pastor immediately, church elders, or whom ever you need to in order to put an end to it. Praying for you!
  17. Who ever said they were thousands or millions of years? 1) 24 hours 2) 24 hours 3) 6 days 4) 24 hours 5) 40 days 6) 3 days That was easy! How about these? 1) Who is buried in Grant's tomb? 2) What color was the white horse that George Washington rode into town on? 3) Why is the timepiece which we wear upon our wrist called a "watch" when we only glance at it occasionally? 4) What would happen if Batman were bitten by a vampire? 5) Can we spell "creativity" however we want? 6) Does wild rice have to be hunted?
  18. "Be still and know that I am God" comes to my mind when I think God is silent. Maybe he is just waiting for me to shut up, sit down and WAIT on Him!
  19. A friend sent me the link to this article about China proposing one world currency. Here is the link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090324/ap_on_...global_currency
  20. Daniel 9:27 is talking about Antichrist (see verse 26). The covenant referred to is the one which antichrist makes with the Jews. He will break that covenant of peace. Matthew 24:15 gives reference to this as well.
