  1. I was listening to a radio program this morning and the speaker posed that question, "Are you a thermometer or a thermostat?" Thermometers react to the situation. Thermostats control the situation. What a great example to keep in mind as a Christian. Titus2:2,5 tells us we are to be self-controlled. We are to control (be a thermostat) the situation. Let's hear it for all the thermostats!!!
  2. Praise God! It's about time these two men were set free.
  3. O'Dannyboy, thanks for the heads up on "Malwarebytes". It works great!
  4. I am with Shad on this one....hoping its the gates of heaven opening.. Planets and stars are known to emit radio waves which can be converted to sound recordings. So, who knows what it is, but it is interesting.
  5. Genesis 3:22, 23 says "Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore, the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden." Personally, I think that addressess the issue, that they did not die because it says they had the potential to live for ever if they ate of the tree of life. Hard to eat if you are dead. Also, if you go back to verse 7 in the same chapter it says that they eyes of them both were opened and they sewed fig leaves together. There is no break in what happened. They were enlightened immediately. They had time to "clothe and hide" themselves before they heard from God. Eventually they died physically but their immediate loss was spiritual.
  6. Allowing something to happen is not the same thing as causing it to happen. A lot of the things you have posted are taken out of context. It seems you are saying, basically that man has no choice over anything. If that's the case then why did Christ die? If the end is decided before hand then Christ died in vain. We have choices and they may not line up with God's will for ourlives, but he allows them to happen. Not the same thing as God forcing them to happen in spite of what we choose.
  7. "The Holy Spirit intercedes passively as serving the means by Whom Jesus knoweth the mind of the Spirit for Jesus to intercede for the saints according to the will of God." How can you "passively" intercede? Intercede is a verb, which implies action. Passive means not acted upon.....so you have an oxymoron which makes no sense whatsoever. All THREE persons of the Godhead search the heart. God the Father (1Chr 28:9); God the Son (Rev. 2:23) and God the Holy Spirit (1 Cori 2:10), so I am not really sure what the point of this "lesson" is.
  8. In my opinion, 12 is much to young for make-up no matter what the "norm" seems to be. What is the rush to let these kids grow up so fast. I nearly bite my tongue off when I see these toddlers with black/animal print clothing or the real sparkly clothing. What happened to ducks and such. Why do they need to like like minature pop-stars. Why can't they just be KIDS! Dress up/makeup is ok for a special event like a recital or something, but on a daily basis ...NO.
  9. Does that go for all the images too? You should ask your self that question. "You shall not make for youselves any graven image, or any likenessof any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the waters under the earth" Exodes 20:4. I believe that covers everything from what we can see in heaven, to the earth and in the water. Massorite, that is an excellent Scripture verse, but the question is....is someone worshipping the tree or just decorating with it. If they are worshipping it, then that verse applies. God does not want us to have 'other Gods" before Him and I really don't believe that applies to a tree used for decorating.
  10. If the military is spread as thin as the newsmedia would like one to believe, then how would their be martial law? Form a new "military"? I don't see it happening personally, but I have lived long enough to know anything is possible. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
  11. I for one will give her a chance but something just nags at me when Ann Rice needs to "make-up" something about the Lord to write a book. Isn't He wonderful enough without 'faking" things? God knows her heart, and I pray that her conversion is real.
  12. Salvation is a matter of the heart and your relationship with Christ Jesus. Tree or no tree is not going to send someone to hell. Anyone that starts adding to Scripture is suspect in my opinion. God made it very clear in HIS Word what the requirements of salvation are and anything beyond that is speculation. I think we should be more worried about those who are lost and in need of a Savior than whether someone put up a Christmas tree or not. Just my thoughts on it.
  13. I think heaven is far to wonderful for us to describe with our limited vocabulary. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind conceived what God has prepared for those who love HIM! - 1 Corin. 2:9
  14. I don't believe in 'Luck" but I know we all go though valleys sometimes. Been in quite a few over the years. Maybe you could work out of your home. Contact some of your clients, ask family and friends to put the word out for you. Praying for your success in whatever you choose to do.
  15. slim777, what do you mean by this statement: "It's a shame that God has so left a record of his the Holy bible" Not quite sure I follow you thoughts.
  16. I personally have not experienced the "happy holidays' comment with regards to Thanksgiving, but have noticed the trend to jump straight from Halloween to "THE holidays" totally trying to bypass Thanksgiving which is a day set aside to give thanks to God. Should we Christians be surprised by this? I don't think we should, but I personally will continue to say "Happy Thanksgiving and Merry CHRISTmas". "As for me and my house we will serve the LORD" which includes giving thanks and praising God every chance we get.
  17. Actually he did. Jesus was born on September 11, 3bc between the hours of 6:30 and 9:00pm You site several secular references to how the birthdate of Jesus is determined and its very interesting. If you could prove your point solely from Scripture then you would be on to something.
  18. We are to do all to the glory of God. Rufus mentions it begins in chapter 8 and I agree. Basically we are to test all conduct by whether or not it manifests the characteristics of God. Will our behavior hinder the spiritual growth of a brother (8:3)? Does it edify (10:23)? Paul concluded that it is done, not for his profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
  19. Colossians tells us that Jesus "blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross. The legalism which so many liked to hold over others was removed. In chapter 2:16 it says "let no man therefore judge you in meat, or drink, or in respect of a holyday (festival), or in the new moon, or or of the sabbath day". False teachers in that day were insistant on abstinence from certain foods and observance of certain days. Paul says they were dispersed by the coming of Christ. I suppose if someone wants to live in legalsim, so be it.
  20. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the person who died.
  21. I believe God in His infinite wisdom purposely did not give us the exact date of the birth of Jesus so we would not be side-tracked by worshipping a date and forgetting who we should be worshipping. Satan has been a master of perverting the truths of God and if Christians want to turn the tables by making a pagan holiday into one that HONORS the King I am not sure that is such a bad thing, so long as we remember its all about Jesus and not the holiday. The reason for the holiday has become lost in all the commercialism. The WHEN of honoring Jesus isn't nearly as important as the actual doing which should be DAILY not just a specific time of the year.
