If the ear is the organ for hearing a terrestrial being, what would you suppose would the organ be for hearing a spiritual being?
I don't know Ovedya, what would the organ be?

That would be your human spirit. Often people who seek to find God through the facilities of their soul (primarilly the mind) do not find or experience God in the most profound and intimate way. Using the soul to contact God, who is Spirit, is a bit like using your eyes to listen to a song.

The soul is supposed to be spirit as well, is it not?

You are saying that our "human spirit" is the organ we should use for listening to God. The human spirit is not an organ. You can't look up human spirit in the dictionary -- it's not there. Human spirit is something ephemeral, it's not unlike the olympic spirit, perhaps. It is more to do with emotion, or outlook. It is something you would be hard pressed to define, but whatever it is, it is certainly not an organ.

The human spirit is an organ, just not one that can ever be placed in the coroner's weighing-scale during the autopsy or studied under a bright light. The Rolling Stones are playing on the radio, but if I take the radio apart trying to find the tiny singing men, Mick and the boys are not there ....

Science is our salvation, it is our future. It is opening the universe to us. It makes all dreams possible. It does bring in its train potential treats and so we must always approach it responsibly. Science is not our enemy.

Are you an ordained priest of this religion?

Humanism is man's worship of himself. Humanism is man making himself into God. I can't put into words how much that disgusts me. The horror of that is beyond measure.

So, with your logic....you are putting your faith into the very same thing that is killing you...with me, I put my faith with God, the One who will give me life eternal.

Two hands working accomplish more than a hundred clasped in prayer. Sure you might get a splinter every now and then but I'd prefer a physical roof to a spiritual one when it starts raining.

You'll be needing that 'spiritual roof' before long, my friend. :emot-pray:

Now, you speak of science [Negative_Cool]. I myself am a nurse, so I know much about science. I will not refute that science has done many wonderful things in our days. But I also know that the same science has done many harmful things as well. Because of science we have medicines, many are great...but as a nurse I know all medicines have side effects. in order to get rid of side effects, well, here's another medicine. Science has developed chemicals beyond knowledge...chemical agents that cause cancer, destroys our enviroment, and many our bodies in general. How about our bombs...thanks science, now we can blow the world up 10x over. the list goes on and on.

So, with your logic....you are putting your faith into the very same thing that is killing you...with me, I put my faith with God, the One who will give me life eternal.

Without science I would have died more than 25 years ago and many of the people I know would be dead, as well as both my children. Without science we would be back in the medieval period relying on prayer to heal contagious disease and cancer. Science is our salvation, it is our future. It is opening the universe to us. It makes all dreams possible. It does bring in its train potential treats and so we must always approach it responsibly. Science is not our enemy.

Sorry for the little diatribe.

Science is, indeed, a wonderful thing. God gave us science, Hitchey, just as He gave us every other thing that can be named. :emot-pray:

You know better than that Gauntlet. We can both go to the radio station and check out where the broadcast originated, find the recording and trace its origin back to a Rolling Stones recording session. There is no 'human spirit' organ in any biology text! If you queried biologists about it you would soon be forced to admit that you were simply expressing an opinion that was contrived to defend a religious view point. You are making it up. I have no objection if you want to conjecture that there might be such a centre in the human body, that at least we can argue, but to say as you did, "The human spirit is an organ..." flies in the face of being reasonable.

Biology texts are written by mere men. You are looking in the wrong book, Hitchey. :emot-pray:

I recognize your sincerity but, I for one, can't believe again without a reason, and I couldn't find one the first time. If you were once an atheist what brought you back to belief in God. What convinced you?

Well, I was never brought up a christian. I was forced to go to Catholic school in my early days though. I will be completely honest, the catholic dogmas pushed me further into non-believer than draw me closer to God. My mom today still stands a devout catholic, whereas, I am a protestant. I have tried to educate her on the history of the catholic church, the symbology, and meanings behind their doctrine (other than the bible)...she won't hear it. So I continue loving her anyways.

I would never say I was an atheist. But lets be honest, atheists biggest thing is that christians hold to a "blind, unprovable faith". Now, though you may be a non-believer, that does not discredit your educational status...Im sure you are quite smart. So lets think logically. Your theory, whatever it may be....requires "faith"...and unprovable, blind faith. You say man evolved...I say and many scientists NOW say, the early skeleton was put together from pieces of different species...one being an actual ape. You have dinosaur fossils that "prove" dinosaurs lived on earth millions of years ago....I give you a verse from the book of "Job"

Job 40:15

Humanists do not see Man as divine.

I disagree. If you place Man before God, what else can it be called?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
