we all have to make choices of where to spend our money. why is is wrong to base this on the fact that a store is putting out a totaly tasteless ad?

First of all...I don't care if people wanna boycott. I'm just kinda bummed to see people get so twisted over something so stoopid. I see bad, stoopid, tasteless stuff all the time. I think those "God" billboards are stoopid and tasteless too...should I stop driving on every road they are on? Should I stop shopping at every grocery store that sells tabloids? I'd open my own "perfect" store...but sooner or later I'll sin in someway and then I'll have to boycott myself.

I personally don't have a problem with that particular commercial...but if other people are sensitive, then to each their own I guess. Are people really prepared to boycott someplace everytime they see something they consider a bad advertising campaign? I got more important things to worry about.

We can discuss all day whether we should boycott a fast food joint because they did a funny spongebob commercial and featured girls with square, sponge-shaped bottoms...but I think this thread is reaching with all the "poor women" sex objects...blah, blah, blah

How would you know, Axx? YOU are a man. Anyway, you're missing the point ...... which is that the commercials are inappropriate for the target audience. Children. Why must we target the young and vulnerable? They grow up too quickly even without being exposed to smarmy ad campaigns.

I completely agree. If we, as Christians, find something tasteless, crude and offensive - we need to bring it to the attention of the company and until the advertisement or product is corrected - I don't think we should spend our money at that company. When they have enough of an impact on their bottom line, they'll get the message. On a local level - I shop at a grocery store that is closed on Sunday and is very community and church oriented. My mechanic is a Christian who goes to my church as is the lady who does my hair. My husband gets a lot of his business from other Christians that we deal with, too. I try very hard to be mindful of God when and where I spend my money and with whom.

Sooooo...what you're saying is...you buy products from a bunch of sinners.

Because I truly do not understand you or many of your beliefs - I will state more clearly for your edification that I try to shop at stores and with people who are Christians - and yes, I'm sure they have sinned - but they are still Christians. I don't see where that makes me wrong or the object of your ridicule.

:) you know more and more on these threads i am noticing something.

we are allowed to disagree with one another in a loving and uplifting way that isnt the problem.

but on some of these threads, this is not what i am seeing!!! instead i see folks degrading and putting each other down. i think that is sad very sad!! :)

and yeah i am prepared for the onslaught of nasty remarks that will more than likely come from this post as well.

all i am saying is that if we could just disagree amiably it would make the posting experience so much better here on worthy.

just a thought from me is all :)

I am guilty of that Irish temper sometimes Manie - the Lord is working with me on it though. I only blew the horn 2 times on the way to work this morning.... :emot-highfive:

Lets get serious here.

I'm a bachelor, and as such I'm an opportunistic feeder (kinda like a Hyena?). I will usually eat anything put in front of me. They had me at ham......... Sorry :emot-highfive:

Amen!

And the phone book is an epic of modern literature.

The plot is a bit weak,

but man there are a lot of characters!

LOL!!! I guarantee you if we all started shopping at "Christian Only" stores someone would boycott Store A because they don't do things the way Store B does. I can almost hear it..."Did you know store A were Calvinists? I'm not shopping there anymore.." "Did you hear that store B is open on Sunday's... "

Now theres definately truth in that statement! I think the commerical is just plain stupid and won't watch it when it comes on like I do most all commericals, its just a gimic and odds are if everyone that finds if offensive writes and calls Burger Kings headquarters and stores they just may find that the commerical will be taken off the air. The Qiznos commerical is gone, cut up and redone to be less offensive. If we boycot everything that we find offensive we just may end up without food, internet, and well you get the idea. I am not saying we shouldn't stand up for what we believe in or for the things we find offensive and distasteful yet we cannot take out of the world all the things we don't like.

and you might even work on the Sabbath .......

I may be dense here but what does that mean? I don't think I will be working on any sabbath myself since one I haven't been unable to work for coming up on 8 years and I am one who does take the sabbath as a day of rest. Could ya clarify what you meant?

It's the pride in man, manie. Some HAVE to be right and HAVE to step on anyone who doesn't agree with them. It's very UNChristian behavior. As is the name calling, condescension and accusations of not being a good Christian or (gasp!) of being a liberal. As if any of us have to defend who or what we are to other mortals. It's weird. :emot-hug:

So its okay to shop at stores run by imperfect Christians...but we must avoid the imperfect world? I don't get it. And its not ridicule...its just making the point that nobody is perfect.

When did I ever say that anybody was perfect? I'm not - I'm sure they are not - but I try to support Christian enterprise - I don't see where that is a problem.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
